RagTonk Tack Piano's (PX-5s)

   (4 reviews)

About This File

These are dramatically different piano's for the PX-5s. These are upright pianos with tacks applied to the hammer felt. Great for playing ragtime or honky tonk style piano. This piano represents a piano where microphones are not ideally placed. You can hear a lot of hammer noise, both at key strike and key release and some room acoustics being picked up as well.

Note: The modulation wheel gives a very special effect on this stage setting. It simulates analog "Wow" similar to off center vinyl record on a poorly setup turntable. A little modulation goes a long way here. Don't apply too much. :)

Note 2: Zone 2 of these stage settings is part of the piano sound. Do not overwrite zone 2. If you sequence this piano, you will need to sequence 2 channels. Zone 1 and Zone 2 make up this piano sound.

The stage settings included here are two variations of the same piano.

Tack Piano 2 ...has a dull bass range that allows the higher register to shine bright.

Tack piano 1... has brighter bass range for when you need a cutting rhythm.
