Thanks Brad, maybe a simpler question is: can the 3000 midi learn?

Can you assign midi parameters to the expression pedal, mod wheel and two rotaries on the 3000? I am trying to assign parameters of the new SWAM brass instruments on the iOS platform. I wish to assign parameters like expression, vibrato, growl, etc. I have tried midi learn protocol but unsuccessful. The manual does not address midi learn. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, Brad. After reading posts on this and other forums going back to 2016 I find it hard to believe Casio has not made more of the MZX series. One Latin American member mentioned the huge market in SA, India and other countries where musicians cannot afford the higher end instruments. It seems Casio is doing a great service to those who want a versatile instrument marketing this at a low price. But, from what I read, Casio is not being very attentive to this broad market. Do you think they have turned their sights elsewhere? NAMM 2018 showed no developments in this area. Although Casio is well represented in Turkey the MZX line is not being ordered. My only option is a floor model 300, whereas the Yamaha psr A3000 (specializing in oriental styles) is very available at double the price. I would value your and the forum's opinions as of this date.

Hi, Brad. I was reading a post in the forum that led to a synthZone post of April 2016. It talked about the mixer being unable to save data from the sequencer under certain conditions (saving style variations, etc.). someone named Greta posted a rave review then updated with this flaw . I forget who posted it on the Casio forum... One of the frequent contributors, I think. i have been able to locate apparently the only MZX for sale in Istanbul. Unfortunately it is a 300, but I will try it tomorrow. Thanks for all your help. Mike

I was reading some posts about the mzx from 2016. They spoke of some bugs with the mixer. I was wondering if these were cleared up in the current units? Thanks!

I encountered another problem with the AT5 that I would like to be sure won't happen with the 300/500. when you download midi song info from the mixer to the sd card will it record the system track "a" 1-16 as well as "b" multi track 1-16? When I tried this on my AT 5 it ignored the system track "a" data and only recorded "b" 1-16. I want to be sure this is not a problem on the 300 or 500 before I purchase. thanks for the continuing help.

I was recording on my At5 and had a decent mix. When I shut the keyboard down and restarted it the pan settings were saved but not the track volumes.... I hope to try a 300 on Monday ,(500 not available in Turkey). I checked the manual for MZX and the mixer is not mentioned. my question is: can you save all parameters on mixes with the 300/500? Thanks, Brad. So you are saying that the sample pads can cannot be applied to the b multi tracks and only the a master track? By the way... Are these the portals a and b you mentioned? Your help is invaluable. Mike

Hi everyone, I hope to try an MZX this week. But till I get one I am messing with recording on my AT5. I am posting this here because I suspect there are commonalities between this and the MZX. But more because I suspect the greatest knowledge on the site is gathered in this forum. So please allow me to make this bridge until I officially have an MZX. i recorded a master (A) track on my At5 today using the arpeggiator (with a piano voice) in the upper keyboard. I discovered during playback that I could switch the voice of the arpeggiator part of the master track at will between piano and organ. This switching took the recording to the next level musically (at least in my own tortured mind). My question is: is there any way I can edit the (A) master track permanently to reflect this switching from piano arpeggiaton to organ arpeggiaton only using the keyboard and no computer? I thought of recording it to the memory card with these changes on the fly. Would that work, and, if so, can I reimport that data to multitrack more instruments? Also, Would something like this be doable on an MZX? although I mentioned this in my last thread, I feel I must suggest again to all who read this to watch Jeff Wayne's incredible 1978 live rock opera of War of the Worlds with Richard Burton narrating. This genius work, in my poor opinion, was made all the greater by the use of six or eight analog synths to create an incredibly retro other worldly effect!! Anyone who loves synthesizers would salivate over this. I kid you not! So please consult my post in the member lounge for more details. I promise not to mention this again in this forum, but I would love some feedback in the member lounge if you care to. Just my way of saying thank you for the gracious advice some of have given to me.

Yes, I had discounted the 500 at first when my greedy eyes feasted on the Roland's 76 keys and beautiful look, but then I realized any keyboard I bought in the $1500 price range would be missing something... 76 keys, world rhythms, only one arpeggiator, touch screen, great acoustic voices and on board higher quality speakers.....Wow, like why not ask for Ferrari while I am at it!! I guess I was naive on that one, Songwriter! Anyway, I realized I was judging the acoustic abilities of the 500 on the YouTube videos (excluding Ralph Maten's superior abilities with sonic concoctions which come from I don't know where). So I must actually play one! The only keyboard I played which comes closer was the Yamaha A3000, the oriental model, at $1600, but, even though they tout their Super Articulation voices, I didn't like the acoustic tones, especially the brass, pand the orchestral sounds. Generally were phony sounding and lacked immediacy... Though maybe that could be fixed. So for quality and price the Casio is definitely a winner, even though it doesn't come with a Ferrari. As to its availability in Istanbul the two biggest stores both carry the 300 and 500 but are currently waiting delivery... Which is why I haven't tried one yet. And although the prices are inflated for Yamahas and Nordstrom ( the MOXF8 goes for $2500), the Casio's actually cost less than in the states...The 300 at $600US and the 500 at $800US. I don't know why that should be, but there it is. Actually I thought they might be discontinuing in Turkey hence the lower prices but apparently not. So now I am thinking the 300 (I multitrack anyway so how important is the hex layer?) a pair of Mackie XR5s, a decent mic and a nice pair of headphones all for about $1000. yes, music, especially borderline experimental jazz piano, has been on the menu for over fifty years. I always thought I would have an agent so the universe made me one instead. My composing interests, however,lean toward Phllip Glass, Beethoven and the Beatles (good luck to me). Lastly, anyone who reads this, please, please, see my post about the 1978 musical version of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds by Jeff Wayne and Universal pictures in the member forum.... Six or eight wailing analog synths, rock band, full string section AND Richard Burton narrating. This is a must see! I cannot be more emphatic. It is so retro, 70s and synthed out!
