  1. Hi guys Just sold my MZ - loved the keyboard but have moved house (downsized) and really have no convenient room for it. Would like to thank everyone here for your support and sharing. Take care Pete 😀
  2. Unfortunately the above youtube video is no longer available
  3. Yep!! Hilton says (hope I'm correct!!):- 😀 Hmmm I had some key noise which a few of us have reported and Casio replaced my keyboard - now it is super quiet.... Cheers Pete
  4. YES, 1.61 has been in the newer MZs for a while - you may be right - perhaps they are fooling us or playing games!!! Does anyone know the difference - 1.60 vs 1.61???? Come on Casio - wake up!!! You've hit the market with an incredible piece of gear - don't drop it so soon!!!! Pete 😀
  5. Agree - think they may have closed their doors on this one - great shame if so - perhaps even Casio don't realise what they have created!!! 😀
  6. Hey guys Am I correct in saying that the MZ's Rotary effect played with the tone wheel organ sounds only has a single rotary speaker? Could be my hearing, but I cannot hear 2 speakers spinning. Not a major issue as it still sounds OK. Cheers Pete 😊
  7. 1.61 has been around and commented on for a long time. I am unsure how some new models are at 1.61 as all us mortals can only get 1.60 I doubt 1.7 is happening but it would be nice to know - I get the feeling Casio has dropped TOTL arranger/workstations - so hope I'm wrong. I've lost faith in Casio regarding this. Pete 🙂
  8. Yep - agree - 73/6 would be a great move forward when the new MZ-X600 is released!! (Sorry, I lapsed into a beautiful dream for a moment there 😉 ) Seriously guys, I read all the MZ accolades and excitement but I am seriously so upset by the total "ZERO" from Casio - I have been a Korg lover for over 20 years but was so excited by this keyboard - are Casio seriously a "Create-and-forget" company? Why is this flagship not developed further? Was it a marketing flop? Casio-marketing here in Australia is a big "Zero" but then most musical vendors are much the same here. Would be nice if Casio at least said "...we're still working on it...." or "...we've dropped that one..." - just would be nice to know. I'm barely hanging on to mine but mostly because I feel it has zero support and is already a dead Casio product - the keyboard is great, don't get me wrong. The fact that our local dealers are not getting new stock and have dropped the price by 50% leaves me a little nauseous Hope things change Pete 🙂
  9. Had mine greased and it was silent for about 2 weeks then the creaking came back. The Service centre said re-greasing would only ever be temporary and that they could not replace the keybed in that model, so they gave me a new keyboard - no problems at all now - so far. Here, we have a 5-year warranty so I am not feeling too worried - if it happens again I will expect the same treatment or my money refunded - I have a superb and very supportive retailer too (which helps!!) Good luck guys - don't do it yourself - get your Casio retailer to have it fixed or replaced!!!! Pete 🙂
  10. Great video demo - thanks - please let's have some more. Pete 🙂
  11. Australia list it as current but similarly, no-one is stocking it - my local retailer sold off a few at less than 1/2 price - Casio literally produced this keyboard and didn't bother marketing it. Can't imagine it will survive now - VERY disappointed!!!! Will probably end up getting rid of mine.... Pete 🙂
  12. I have no complaints about my MZ-X500 - fabulous value for money and an inspiring musical instrument. The original post was "Why shouldn't I buy...." I have one answer If I was buying again now I would be concerned that Casio had dropped it already. Mine has a 5 year warranty and I question whether Casio will even remember it in 5 years. Now this is based purely on all the available information and feedback. I SO hope I'm wrong BUT that is now only one reason I might not buy it. Everything else about it is excellent - seriously. I don't even know if it is discontinued or not!!!! Come on Casio, give those other manufacturers a kick and put some effort into this range (or was it a mistake?) Pete 🙂
  13. Just repeating.... my MZ was replaced under warranty - so far the new replacement is fine.... difficult to play with my fingers crossed though 😉 Happy New Year Pete 😎
  14. Yes I hope Casio check out this issue that a few others have experienced too. For me, it is not just the fact that the keys are noisy - I owned a Roland A33 which had the noisiest keybed I've played BUT it was consistent across the entire keyboard. What bothered me with my MZ was that it was NOT all keys but enough to make it very annoying and the noise could be described as a "creak". Anyhow Casio have Kindly replaced my keyboard and hopefully I can continue now and enjoy this truly great instrument. Cheers Pete 😀
  15. I think Yamaha went overboard with its SA - I found my Tyros to be a nightmare with SAs cutting in without any control by me. Korg has a much better implementation giving the player better control. MZ?? - well for the price it has many fantastic features some of which I would love on my Korgs!!! I am however getting worried about its future - have Casio dropped it already? It was Aus$1,999 RRP and street Aus$1,699 just a short while ago - today it is Aus$799 (that's USD 575) !!!!!!!!! Is it all over - no more updates? A new model??? Is Casio serious about the MZ from a future point of view or was it just a one-off attempt to do what no other manufacturers have done - that is, "a great workstation with a great arranger functions"???? Cheers Pete 😀
  16. Well I had it "repaired" under warranty and it was like new but only for a couple of weeks then noisy keys again. Now I have had it completely replaced so I will see how this new one goes. Apparently the keybed itself is not "replaceable" and hard to get to. I hope I get to keep this keyboard but cannot live with the noisy keys if they return. Cheers Pete
  17. ....also consider using the "freeze" function - you can select what you want to "lock" when changing registrations - it's great and very useful Cheers Pete 🙂
  18. Thanks - appreciate that but have my Korgs MIDI'd up already Guess I would really like my Casio to be like it was out of the box just a very short while ago. Will talk to my retailer later this week and see what he suggests..... 🙂
  19. Hi guys I know this has come up a few times before - sorry!!! My MZ keybed was perfect when I bought it, then in a fairly short time the keys became noisy - almost like a "creak". It was deemed to be a warrantable issue and our local Casio service centre "repaired it" (I believe lubricated it) It was then back to perfect silent keys BUT now, after only a couple of weeks, it's noisy again. (EDIT: recorded in my studio and the key noise was picked up through mics and hence unacceptable) So what do I do? If all MZs are like this then I guess I put up with it or sell it or try for a refund???? Anyone have a perfectly quiet keybed (i.e. for a long time!!) Cheers Pete
  20. Thanks - just downloaded them - look forward to trying them later when I get home. Cheers Pete 😎
  21. How are you getting on with your new MZx300? It's all a little daunting at first and the manuals are not the best but just experiment, experiment experiment. Rick Stirling in these forums here kindly merged all the manuals into one PDF - very useful e.g. searching in the PDF. See: Also I find that using the registrations a lot when experimenting/learning is priceless - e.g. when you are trying out a rhythm and sounds and you've changed a lot of things like temp,.EQ, sounds, volumes, panning, pedal settings FX etc..etc.. just put it in a registration before going on to the next thing - this is great for learning as you can quickly call up your registrations to "see what you did" - you can always re-use the registrations later. Have fun Pete 😀
  22. Hi Igor I've been away and only just catching up with the forum... I have the Kronos and MZ and will try a few things with mine and let you know if I have any success. Cheers Pete :)
  23. Hey Scojo - welcome So what model did you buy?? Pete P.S. My first keyboard was a Casio MT45 !!!!!
  24. Hi guys Always great to see and hear what other musicians around the world are doing. Thanks for posting.... Pete
  25. Hi guys Regarding the OT it seems that the MZ is still readily available here in Oz but can't comment about manufacturing. I bought mine new with full 5 year replacement warranty for the equivalent of USD950. It is beyond value for money. I have recorded with mine and it is quite amazing. I think of mine as a workstation with a great arranger engine rather than the other way around. I have a PA4X-76 at 4 times the cost and there are still features on the MZ-X500 that are on my wish-list for my PA4X!! Like "wav" recording, pedal configurations remembered in registrations, the terrific "freeze" button functions and more.... nice one Casio - you could end up easily in direct competition with Korg/Yamaha/Ketron/Roland if your marketing directors want to follow that market. Anyhow, whether Casio drop the MZ series or not I'm pretty happy to continue with mine without any further changes. (Having said that, it would be nice to know that they hadn't actually dropped it just yet.) Cheers Pete
