  1. Power on while simultaneously holding the [TONE] and [FUNCTION] buttons.
  2. I would be very interested to hear how this works out. I also have a PX-3 and V-Machine running VB3. I am still waiting for the PX-5S to arrive in the UK so that I can try it out.
  3. I would say almost certainly. If you read this article http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/45ec2226#/45ec2226/27 Stephen Schmidt suggests that something new will be announced at NAMM 2014.
  4. I am still waiting for the PX-5S to arrive in the UK. But a library of song-based Stage Settings would be useful. This an area where, in my opinion, the Kurzweil PC3 and Yamaha Motif range excel. There are a huge number of song specific sounds already programmed or available for purchase as libraries. This saves a huge amount of time when preparing for corporate functions, weddings and to a lesser extent stage shows/musicals as a lot of the sounds required are already available. With regard to specific songs, This was started/covered in this thread: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4239-song-ready-stage-settings/
  5. How does your cable tidy attach to the PX-5S?
  6. Last year Jeff Dunmire from Casio gave a demo of the XW-P1 From about 16:00 to 23:00 he used a number of custom Hex Layers. Are these available anywhere?
  7. I have not tried a PX-5S yet - they are not yet available in the UK. But from reading the manuals and from what Mike Martin has said then basically yes. You would need to program the FCB1010 to send CC#11 on the desired midi channel.
  8. This is the one I play - albeit rarely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTBv4kAdk_w (Same as posted earlier by Joe Muscara). As aside when playing covers with various bands I am nearly always asked to play the studio version as this is usually the one most people are familiar with.
  9. Would a mini USB drive meet your needs? Something like: http://www.amazon.com/HP-v165w-Flash-Drive-P-FD4GBHP165-EF/dp/B00404JF80/ref=sr_1_40?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1376115992&sr=1-40&keywords=mini+usb+drive
  10. Are you sure that you are using the correct editor and file combination? For example trying to load an XW-P1 file into the PX-5S editor will not work.
  11. The MIDI Solutions controller will take its power from most MIDI Outs - this link http://www.midisolutions.com/faqs.htm lists the products that do not provide enough power. To use the FCB1010 with the PX-5S you would simply need to connect the Midi Out of the FCB1010 to the Midi In of the PX-5S. If you connect anything to the the Midi In of the FCB1010, then, depending on how things are programmed, incoming Midi data will be merged with the FCB1010 data and sent to the PX-5S.
  12. I would be very interested to see this.
  13. I am afraid that this is not accurate. For example the Kurzweill PC3 series and Roland Fantom X both offer seamless patch switching. Back to Casio - providing that you are careful with effects then this is also achievable on the PX-3. I would be very surprised if it cannot be achieved on the PX-5S.
  14. As I mentioned on another forum thanks for taking the time to go through these.
  15. Brad when you say that "The phrases will get out of sync after some time", what sort of time frame?
  16. Thanks for the video Chuck. I remember you going through the sounds on the PX-350 a while back. When you have a chance would you mind going through some of the sounds available on the PX-5S? Perhaps concentrating on strings and brass as I have not heard many examples of these.
  17. Thanks for the report. From a purely personal viewpoint I agree with you with regard to Casio UK - but I assume that their decision was made on a commercial basis, which we have to accept. Please let us know where you purchase your PX-5S from and the cost. I think £899 is a little steep especially when you hear of people in the USA buying them for $999 and others getting a further $150 off in a Father's Day sale, (I fully realize that this does not take all 'commercial factors' into account), so let us hope that it will be priced lower.
  18. I am glad that you managed to get the editor running. I hope that you manage to get the bass sound you are after.
  19. The installation does not require the PX-5S to be connected. How long are you waiting while the status bar is at 30% and CPU 100%? On a slower single core machine this could easily take a minute or so. What spec PC/laptop are you using? On XPSP3 try: Disconnecting the PX-5S. Uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Start Task Manager and leave to show performance. Start the editor with the PX-5S disconnected. Start the editor and wait for a few minutes. This will establish whether the installation was successful. If after, say, 5 minutes, the editor is still 'stuck' tab to the Task manger this will take time and kill the editor. On XPSP3 there should not be a need to reboot. If you are sill having problems let me know and I will try the editor on a Win7 PC for you.
  20. I think it is likely to be a system problem. I think the OP was tvl919. An Error 410 is likely to indicate that this user is 'no longer on the system'.
