  1. It's a lie I tells ya! I was nowhere near the scene of the crime at the time and the cheese is purely circumstantial evidence!!! I wanna lawyer!!! Gary
  2. The most logical question is whether or not you have tried running the G1 on batteries or not? Since you saw it was unsoldered near the battery compartment it seems likely it is a battery connector wire. If the unit doesn't run on batteries without the adapter then Bob's yer uncle and you've solved the mystery. Gary \
  3. This may end up becoming my signature emoticon Gary
  4. I believe the Vax77 folds in half. You could squeeze it into a very LARGE suitcase Gary
  5. Here's a link to the XW FAQ thread directly. You can just bookmark it if you like. http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/forum/2-general-discussion/ Gary
  6. No Prob. That's why the FAQ is a sticky at the top of the XW Forum. Gary
  7. Those should answer your question. Probably worth your while to take a couple of hours and browse thru the FAQ at your leisure as well. Gary
  8. Nice piece Carlo. It ,keeps you guessing until the end. Gary
  9. The drumkit was the Kurzweil Layered with the Blofeld. The XW was used among the others for lead. The Juptrian Pad. Thanks for the appreciation guys Gary
  10. I was possessed by the spirit of Ozzy Osborne this week. No matter how hard you try you can't win the race... Without further ado, here's a little orchestral deth metal for your enjoyment. Created using Kurzweil PC3K8, Casio XW-P1, Waldorf Blofeld, and M-Audio Venom using Cakewalk Home Studio 9.01 on KXstudio Linux. Gary
  11. What on earth is a Rhodes Organ? Do you by any chance mean Rhodes Electric Piano and Hammond Organ tones? Gary
  12. There are a couple of alternatives to the Kenton MIDI Host but they ain't cheap. 1) http://www.lab4music.it/index.php?lang=EN 2) http://www.iconnectivity.com/products/midi/iConnectMIDI4plus or if you are handy with a soldering iron there are a few much cheaper DIY alternatives. 1) http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=9681.0 2) http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=16301.0 Gary
  13. Musikmesse Frankfurt is usually handled by Ralph Maten. Gary
  14. Thanks for the offer but I already have just about every free patch for the PC3K out there. As well as a boatload of paid for patches. Fact is I have more patches already than I have time to listen to. I appreciate the offer but my board is pretty much configured now the way that I want it. Gary

    Recorder

You could accomplish this quite easily on ANY keyboard, with or without a sequencer built in simply by purchasing a cheap mixer and a multitrack Tascam SD Card recorder. Actually you don't even need the mixer. The Tascam can handle the routing by itself. No computer required at a total cost of under $150 USD. http://www.amazon.com/DP-006-Portastudio-Portable-Multi-Track-Recorder/dp/B00BEGS5NI Gary
  16. I had to make a similar decision 2 years ago. I could buy a brand new PX-5S for $899 CDN or a store demo PC3K8 with full warranty for $2399 CDN. Frankly the discount of over a thousand dollars from the list price of Kurzweil won me over and to be honest, though it's an intimidating machine, I've grown to love it more and more each and every day. I ended up spending close to another thousand on all the pedals, (three switchable and two CC pedals) as well as the ribbon controller and the Kore 64 Expansion ROM and now the unit is the centerpiece of my studio. I regularly use it as master controller for all my other synths and the quality of the inbuilt sounds and thousands of loadable patches I've found for free or very inexpensive on the web just blows my mind. The VAST synth sounds are excellent as well as the K3B organs and the acoustic and e pianos are all first class. Likewise the orchestral and drum sounds are extremely realistic. I'd say if you can score a PC3K6 for a good price then jump on it. You could always pick up an inexpensive PX-5S later on to use as a keyboard controller and mainly use the PC3K6 as a module and for the organ voices. Don't get me wrong. The PX-5S is a quality instrument and one of the best in its class, but the Kurzweils are in a class by themselves. In the best of all possible worlds it wouldn't hurt to own both. Gary
  17. It's also almost 4 X the PRICE of the Behringer. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Spacestation3 Even a pair of Nearfield Monitors and a 200 Watt Sub add up to less Gary
  18. Nice work Carlo. I've always enjoyed Italian Prog Rock. PFM, Seventh Wave, Sensations Fix... Some great bands have come out of Italy in the past 30 years. Gary
  19. The Keystep appears to be newly released, expected to ship this spring. Available for preorder at Sweetwater right now. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/KeyStep Gary
  20. You're very welcome Tony. The K450FX and the built in Casio speakers will compliment each other nicely, with the Behringer supplying a deeper, richer bass while the CGP speakers reproduce the higher frequencies faithfully. Gary
  21. BTW, if MIDI is a dealbreaker pick up one of these. http://www.lab4music.it/index.php?lang=EN or one of these. http://www.kentonuk.com/products/items/utilities/usb-host.shtml Sure they cost more than the controller itself, but they're usable with a wide range of equipment. Gary EDIT >>> And if you really feel cheap here's a DIY set of plans for simple USB MIDI Host using a $20 arduino board. http://cyfrowogitarowo.pl/archiwa/124 http://cyfrowogitarowo.pl/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/MIDI-USB-HOST-DIY-tutorial.pdf http://www.hinton-instruments.co.uk/reference/midi/promidi/index.htm
  22. Here's a likely suspect that comes up on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Korg-microKEY-37-Key-Powered-Keyboard/dp/B007VQIGPW It's velocity sensitive with 37 mini keys and pitch and mod wheels and dirt cheap. The only thing it's missing is true MIDI ports. Or if you can work with 25 keys howabout this one? http://www.amazon.com/ARTURIA-MiniLab-230401-25-Key-Controller/dp/B00COPKOUK Gary
  23. I'm still inclined to believe it's a gummy pot or a switch somewhere. Either that or a bad solder joint. I think at this point you either have to spend a couple hundred to have a technician fix it, or else sell it off to someone else who is willing to figure out the problem himself. Either way, if you decide to sell it please be honest when you advertise it about the problem. Nobody likes a scumbag ebay seller who unloads a problem child for full price. Gary
  24. The SA-76 is not velocity sensitive anyway so a retrofit wouldn't help. Neither are the microkorgs as far as I know. The new Korg Minilogue DOES have velocity sensitive mini keys but it would be heartbreaking to butcher such a sophisticated instrument to use as a simple controller. You might find velocity sensitive keys on the newer boutique lines of synths from Yamaha and Roland but again way too expensive to butcher. What you are asking for is a marketing paradox. Most players DESPISE Mini Keys as being unplayable with any sort of nuance or feeling. Even I plan to use my Minilogue when it arrives almost exclusively with a weighted, 88 key controller. It would surely be marketing suicide for any major manufacturer to release a 37 minikey controller with anything more than basic functionality because they would never recoup their development and tooling costs. I think you are in search of Ahab's white whale and if you ever are lucky enough to find it it will end up costing you more than it would ever be worth to you. Gary
