  1. I remember someone did some narly wave/tone stepping with the solo synth using nrpn , I have to look it up on soundcloud hope it still there very long while ago 🙂
  2. Some of the stuff I'm working on with the PX5S. I leave this kind of stuff for weeks cause it doesnt feel done for me, after a few weeks I listen to it again and for some reason it sounds okayish. Some weekends and during week days well spend on the PX5S I say. Think its time to turn these in proper music knowing it will take longer with editing in a daw a new thing to learn I guess. A nice electronic like sound with lovely ring mod , it kinda some familiar synth wave for techno. The best part Ive got was with S1-S6 for some flavoring and stock arpeggio. (Check the sounds out i've silenced on the other zone ,*I'm not sure about those yet still building) BR_003.MP3
  4. Its up , Side note I remembered the XW does this per key with full phrases.

One Note This an example file for what I'm explaining right here. So it works like this Zone 1 , has regular drumkit with phrase 92 for accompany Zone 2 where hexlayer kit is , Both files Onenote Stage and Onenote phrase are needed. Be sure when downloading Onenote phrase to assign it to Zone 2. What I've did is make individual one note sequence per key from C2 To F2. Could done the phrase on the keyboard but did it in a daw lots of possibilities. This only works best with one hexlayer note fixed to a key like D2# what I experimented so far. When the phrase plays each key plays a different pattern , other layers wont get heard because there one layer on. More layers possible but distance between notes where the layers stored is needed for instance one layer on C2 the other on G3 etc , To compliment two patterns with each other. The reason I chose to work with daw with this because its easier to experiment patterns with locking certain note keys. I wonder now how crazy the shapes of the pattern could be and trigger each note by it. Its a cool something I've bumped at making phrase motion , grooves and such. and example audio file. TAKE11.WAV

  7. Soon for the "All" file, I'll see for the coming weekend for an example, Have to try a few things out if it's only for hexlayers. I'll make work in the explanation as well. It's cool something I've bumped at.
  8. I was recently doing a groove on the PX5S and had this cool thing going with a hexlayer which was set as a drum kit, Here is the cool thing I've discovered. Each hexlayer tone can be key-mapped to a single key, It can make a hexlayer drum kit or wave sequence hexlayer. In this case I made a drum kit with each layer on a key. Hexlayers make it possible to set each key to an octave range. I've set it up like a regular drumkit. When a drumkit is made from a hex layer it can be played as one and a phrase can be recorded with a phrase sequence where the key is set on fixed to play this hex-layer as a drum kit . I wanted to try something different. I wanted several one-note patterns using the phrase sequencer on this hex layer tone I used as a drum kit as if the hi-hat had different patterns to play with. Worked perfectly and then I had the idea can I play this one-note phrase on another key and extend different patterns over the range of the keys just like I've recorded it in the phrase. Yes of course it can and it did play over an octave range. just as it can be recorded in the phrase sequence. Imagine it like recording a hi-hat pattern in the phrase sequencer on each key in the octave in a variety. What I did was record a pattern on four notes each skipping a few notes and four notes again in an extended variety. patterns recorded in the phrase can then be played according to how a musical sequence should sound, Because of the versatility of the hex layer where tones can be fixed on a key range, there are new ways of patterns at the disposal of single tones or layers of them by the key range they are set. This one-note sequence can be anything I've tried washy synth sequence and slow to fast hi-hat sequence. Lots can be done with note duration, filters, Amp, and motion recording on a single note. The trick here is getting several one-note patterns recorded in the phrase sequence where each pattern should be played over in the octave the phrase key is set from the arp select menu. To highlight this means recording each pattern as overdub at the beginning of the phrase sequencer recording over again or else each pattern gets spaces if the individual patterns are recorded in one go. To emphasize because there are six hex layers fixed in the key range like a drumkit record each pattern individually in the phrase sequence, Overlap each one-note pattern by simply overdubbing the phrase recording. Or use a daw to make each single key pattern into a MIDI file and convert this MIDI file with the PX5S app to a phrase. The drumkit setup works best this makes it possible to have the desired tone being played by that pattern. It's a bit of experimenting. Its possible like with make shift hi-hats and synths that handle single one=note patterns. I knew phrase recording is versatile but I never came up with this to this extent early until I made a groove with a stage in which that sound and pattern caught my ears. I'm releasing an all-file sometime when I'm done experimenting with this.
  9. hear hear, I say we have been quietly waiting for some time, And that time has been spent very well. Learning to adjust sound steadily over time has shown how very enriched the Air tones are. Unlike most of you who truly create the sound you want and discover how it is those facets that explain how deep this board really can get. And being quite an oddball myself in how I showcased my sound and style the years passed I loved and love it a lot more in retrospect an improved board would expand the coming years. Knowing what Air / tones can do Analog sounds , ethereal pads , prog sounds , piano , EP , clavs , I can do electronic sounds I have a stage I've even found Acces Virus like. Looking back at old sounds I've done and what I can do now is very inspiring, Limitation does breed creativity.
  10. Fondly remember when the forum was hot on these keyboards 🙂
  11. Sweet was looking for this gave up a while ago, I'm like yesss!. 👍
  12. Seems the previous Casio models support tuning tables, Mind you the term tuning table new to me here, I thought the process went through the program, Too bad it only does those specific models. I'm surprised by the support of such function , Now how to find out if the PX5 , XW or CT-S support tuning tables and how to apply that because I think if there are settings for it , That might be possible , could be wrong here.
  13. Could there be a way to do microtonal on any Casio keyboard or piano in the future It is very interesting. Microtonal music has a very distinct interval that to me sounds like small water drops falling into a pond. Currently, I see the PX5S has Tune stretching, but can't tune each key individually.
  14. CT-K stands for starters series, not necessarily mean it supports sampling, the XW-G1 supported sampling as well as most of the LK series. CT-X is described as compact with a powerful sound source. Although I'm surprised there is such a range of sound set , I got the CTK 900 it has 3 scat voices and another few sweet voices not in the PX - XW or the new CT-X , Which kind of baffled me. It also has some data access which I don't know what its for.
  15. If your performance has a drum part, you can apply two types of phrases stack on top of one another by using the phrase sequencer as a second additional sequence.
  16. Wish I was a musical genius LOL - Khotel by ya byt' muzykal'nym geniyem LOL
  17. I've deliberately left those out as a reference because there are so many new ways of generative music-making it's mind-boggling. Also, MPE keyboard controller I've also left out because those are more like modulators. What I mean is I have an innovative concept for a keyboard that can predict the notes or chords a musician intends to play well before they press the keys. Think of it as a keyboard with advanced hand-tracking and finger-position sensing technology. It anticipates your movements and musical intentions, much like a wireless laser printer that 'prints' the keys onto the keyboard in real-time based on where your fingers are heading. This predictive capability allows the keyboard to initiate musical changes in real time, enhancing the creative flow and generating music in new, exciting ways. It's like having a musical collaborator who understands your thoughts and intentions before you even play the keys. Basically, you getting a live solo player way ahead of the intent of your playing style but still plays in key according to the arrangement or function.
  18. I was looking at all those new keyboards/controllers and it got me pondering. Most keyboards are made to play either realistic getting that authentic feel or built for special modulation. But what if a keyboard can sense where the hand gonna hit a note or chord? and do something remarkable? This idea is actually towards arrangers, Imagine a band is playing a song live, and every band member each their own instrument drums, bass, guitar, keyboard. Now a live play doesn't necessarily mean they play the song like on the album there are some variations. What I notice sometimes during a song to hype things up the band play for example an up-tempo variation of totally different notes still in key based on the queue of a singer or player. it can be any of the instruments maybe the drummer freestyles a groove for the others to follow, maybe the bass player. What if such a thing can be done on an arranger you hit the fill-in and a moment later instead of the picked variation style, it breaks totally differently with the bass or keyboard. Moments after the fill-in was pressed the change happened with this specific instrument. This is how it works, A special sensor near each key on the keyboard controller can sense where each finger position would possibly press a key, Meaning it can track the hand position and trigger a change before the fingers actually touch the surface, and do something until the keyboard gets actually pressed fully. Something of a smart program can arrange and orchestrate a layer that initiates the specific notes. Notes could be played in eighths, or glissando, or play in a totally different style than it would with the actual fill-in. This function of the sensor can decide to hit that instrument separately beforehand and guide it in key according to the chords being played. In which it follows the flow of the arrangement as normal exactly how a live band would. This doesn't even have to be a fill-in it could be near the end of a song or mid-song. In a crazy way, it doesn't have to be an arranger-specific function that triggers a note it could be an LFO or arpeggio or some filter or an effect anything. A complete sensing smart live host. Wild idea isn't it, What do you think it hit me while jamming out.
  19. @Jokeyman123 Mr Bill knows the haps too well I trust him on that 😄
  20. I've been pondering the possibility of seeing a solo synth make a return, complete with a wide array of waveforms. I've been quite content with the VL tones in the CTS1. In fact, I was even tempted to acquire the S500, which boasts adjustable VL tones as well. As an owner of a powerful PX5S, I've thoroughly enjoyed the Sin, Saw, Pulse, Tri, and noise tones. They're undoubtedly impressive. However, the solo synth's spectrum left me hungry for more. The gap I'm referring to is the absence of updates for the PX5S that could potentially introduce additional tones, albeit at the cost of altering existing patches. It's also disheartening that Casio's MZ-500 and XW seem to have disappeared from the market, which is quite a letdown. Let's hope for some exciting developments in the future!
  21. There was an attempt, So I've looked deeper into it and was quite startled specifically not about the sound to produce which I have to add is minimal at best. The best and simplest comparison would be a diatonic melodeon as a source trying to do this which I did. But then came the playing style for the notes couldn't comprehend that at all and how to key map to come even close to playing, First there must be a dry tune of either one-tone unisonoric or two tones bisonoric. And bellow the sound of the tones means to expand and contract it , I thought well if we use a velocity to switch between two sounds and use key release too bellow The sound by high velocity press to expand and low soft velocity press to contract this , or the other way around dunno quite messy. But technically some call it Upper and Lower dividing both contract and expand. And wanting to use amp on a tone to make it sound like that right if you know what I mean ?. this the complicated way I came up with using hexlayer which is the primary method in this whole post. The other was to bellow the sound on two different octaves, So that expand has its sound mapped on two octaves and contract has its sound mapped to two octave based on the playing style like left hand to expand and right hand to contract , But having never played such an instrument that could be a hassle 😄. Made quiet a mess for an attempt hahaha. I'm not worried about the sound of the tone to produce but how to accurately map it to the keys to make it playable for anyone. and there this thing which is called reversal and accidental. Lease to say this is more than I can chew and probably for the current hexlayer model as well thinking this out , I imagine samples as you've suggested and more then two hexlayer or functions on our current keyboards , an instrument like concertina I think is more for an arranger as well that can handle a one row instrument with the peculiarity to play scale , I wish I could help you guys out I'll stick with making techno sounds and stuff XW-Addict out 😅
  22. Wouldn't mind replacement parts though even once on a blue moon.
