  1. I have both the wk-7500 and the xw-p1. I like the effects of the longer piano sustain notes with the pedal on the xw-p1...and in arpeggio mode the sustain notes continue in arp mode with sustain and stop the arp effect with the key release and pedal down. The effect is what I want. On the wk-7500 the piano sustain note are slightly less...but also in arpeggio mode the arp effect continues with key release and the pedal down...with less sustain than on the xw-p1. I would like the wk-7500 to have the same effects with the sustain pedal as the xw-p1...or are they just different by design? I know this may be hard to understand...thanks, Bill
  2. I tried changing to different sequences and it cleared up...seems like I tried that before with no success...there was something in the display with either the pure organ tone...or the specific sequence...I cant remember...but your suggestion made me look more closely at the display and I somehow removed it. There really is some quirk there...actually quite nice if you could do it on demand...the pure organ tones combined with the xw synth bass sound was a really nice solo mode...using the sustain pedal the organ overtones would sustain after the initial synth base tones...especially jumping the base several octaves...
  3. Thanks for the reply...it definitely has the organ tone with whatever other tone picked when switched to the step sequencer...I have some tweaked tones saved in open slots that I would not like to lose...would a factory reset eliminate these? Thanks
  4. Hey guys, I somehow have a combined tone when I select a tone to play in step sequence mode. Any tone I choose in tone mode is combined with the pure organ tone when I switch to step sequencer mode. I noticed now when I first turn on the synth, that the pure organ tone is already on the screen no matter what the last tone was selected when I last turned it off. It used to display the first synth tone always when I first turned it on. I must have performed some step by chance to get these dual tones in step sequence mode and would like to get rid of the dual tone with pure organ tone now. I admit that I explore the capabilities of the synth by chance as I just can not seem to understand the manual. Thanks for any information! Bill
  5. Ok...thanks alenK...for what happens with the hex tones and sliders...that is also what I do to get back to original setting. I just want to know what actually is going on when I push these buttons...explains the six layer effects. This being my first real synth, it is a totally different instrument from a wk-7500. I love it... and am disappointed and frustrated at the same time...wish there was a way to see a tutorial in person...so many questions...I guess "Joe" was referring to me?...my name is Bill...although I maybe am some "lost Joe!"
  6. Thanks, for the replies...maybe reading between the lines I will see something...I just don't see any depiction of the displays in the manual. I do enjoy the hex layer tones and solo synths. On some of the hex layers the sounds seem muted to start with...moving the sliders makes them more "dynamic"?...and louder...etc. Just wonder what the reason for that is?...although the effect is nice. Also once a layer is tweaked with a slider, why does it remain in that new sound and not go back if the slider is reversed?...and how do you get back to the original tone...besides going to another layer + and going back - ...? Thanks!
  7. Hey guys, I am not getting what to do with most of the features on this synth. I have come from the wk-7500...playing the rhythm tracks and chord changes in the "casio keys"...re-creating current songs and original songs. I get the solo synth features...have some fun with the hex layers creating sounds like "space music"...even now playing with the sliders to tweak them some. But the performance lists seem to be set patterns with rhythm in one chord...I guess that you can solo over with a synth sound. The display shows a series of lines...some dotted...and some arpeggio effects with key strikes. I stumbled upon the key change button for more variety...but not much else. I do not see anything in the manual about what is on the display...what all the lines and dots mean...can scroll down with the arrows, etc. Just what do you others do with this feature? I have seen some tutorials...but not many that actually explain what you can do. Is this more a solo instrument vs what can be done with the wk-7500? Thanks...
  8. Is it possible to turn off the on-board speakers on the wk-7500 and just have the speakers on a stereo amp play when playing through the amp? On the keyboard I see where it says speakers off...but do not know how to do this. Thanks for any responses!
  9. Hey guys, thanks for the responses....I think I found my problem. I had my synth going through the phono terminal on my amp. For some reason years ago, I originally ran my wk-7500 this way too...maybe because I was using other terminals, tape deck etc. and not playing vinyl much any more. To get the best sound I had to set bass and treble like I said. The sounds were good...just could not turn up volume very much because it was overpowering...not distorted, just overly strong, with some popping on some hard rhythms. There must be something different about the phono jack...because last night I disconnected everything and patched the xw-p1 into an aux jack...now the synth sounds have no static pop at all...and my bass and treble controls sound good back to their normal settings. I have to raise the volume more on the amp...but it is nice and clear now.
  10. Thanks for the reply...I don't think it is the speaker because I swapped speakers from right to left and still only popped on the right side. Volume is really not turned up that much...but you are saying to keep volume lower on xw-p1 than amp...will try that. I do have the treble turned up highest...and bass turned down lowest...on the amp...because this way provided the best sound with my wk-7500 keyboard and assumed that would be the case with the synth. Having the settings "normal" for cd's etc....the sound with the keyboards was too booming bass-wise and muted. I can try putting the speakers on some "rear" terminals on the amp to see if the problem is with the right channel on the "front" speaker terminals. Thanks...
  11. Hello, I just received the xw-p1 synth and I have two questions...1) I am playing through my kenwood stereo amp and polk audio speakers and on some tones, particularly lower synth tones, I get some static popping through the right channel speaker. It seems to be just on the right side and not the speaker itself...it also seems to pop on the initial note and does not continue with repeating strikes of the same note...but if you change to another lower note it will initially pop again. I was playing a casio wk-7500 before the xw-p1 and on some strong drum rhythm accomps. it would have some popping there...just right side also....and 2) What should be the relationship of the two volume controls?...the volume control on the xw-p1 and the volume control on the amplifier?...should one be higher than the other? Thanks for any replies...
  12. I use Plaskolite Plastic Cleaner....cleans..shines..polishes..repels dust..resists fingerprints.
