  1. First of all thank you very much Mr. Martin for your response. It has made clear the problem I was having. I don't believe it was covered in the manual, or if it was, the unintelligible mess that is the manual made it impossible to locate. I do find it telling that it took 6 months to get a response, and apparently only upon swearing never again to buy Casio products. You insinuated that the lack of response was perhaps because I poorly worded my question, but you didn't seem to have the slightest problem understanding it. (!?) As to my statement that Casio's "expert" did not have access to an XW-P1, that was a true statement, not false as you claim, and I do not appreciate being called a liar. Perhaps your company should hire some "secret shoppers" to see just how well your tech support section actually works. Upon calling Casio's tech support number given on their web site, and finding staff completely unable to answer (any!) questions relating to the XW-P1, I was told, more than once, that they would research the issue, and get back to me. They made a big show of taking my name and number, and no one ever called back. This happened three times, before on their fourth attempt, I stopped the pretense of giving them my number. At that point, I asked for the very best person they had on staff. The person who could answer the questions that no one else could. I was given the number of their "expert". (Their choice of words, not mine.) His name was/is Sal @ 973-361-5400 x4339. He was very personable and polite, and was completely unable to answer any of my questions, and expressed true sorrow at not being able to assist me. And he did, in fact, tell me that he did not even have access to an XW-P1. It is not my intention to insult or disparage anyone. Everyone I have dealt with at the company has been wonderfully polite, and with the exception of you, Mr. Martin, 100% unable to answer a single technical question posed to them. I simply wish it to be crystal clear to Casio why I will no longer purchase their products. My next keyboard will likely be another Yamaha. Thank you for your time.
  2. Well at least I got responses to that post! I received none to the below post, in which I've included the original date. So, no, this forum has (so far) not been any help to me either. I've had experience with tons of manuals, from Roland to Yamaha, Moog, etc., etc. I have yet to see worse manuals and/or tech support. Insulting Mr. Martin was neither implied nor intended. He and every employee of Casio that I have dealt with were at all times quite polite. They just didn't help me. Mr. Martin may very well be too overworked to assist everyone. Which illustrates precisely the point I was making. What I stated about Casio's tech support stands. On calling their self-proclaimed "tech support" number, I was never once able to receive any assistance from anyone there. No one there had the faintest idea (to put it kindly) of what I was inquiring about. When given the phone number of what everyone at Casio tech support referred to as "the expert", I also received zero (practical) assistance. This was the individual who (eventually, and with what sounded like some embarrassment), admitted to me that he did not even have access to an XW-P1. If y'all call that "tech support" , then you inhabit a different planet than I do. Here's your chance - any replies to the question posted below? Members4 postsPosted 04 October 2013 - 09:56 AM HELP! I'll describe what I'm trying to do and what's happening: I've saved a (user) solo synth tone and a (user) performance setting, both of which I want to use in the same song, at totally different times. What I want to do is start the song using (only) the saved user/solo synth tone during the intro. Then during a break in the song, I use the wheel to switch to the user/saved performance, which I want to use for the remainder of the song. This performance utilizes a different (user) saved solo synth tone for zone 1, PCM organ tone for zone 2, and a PCM piano tone for zone 3. All zones utilize different parts of the keyboard with no overlap. Well, what's happening is that when I switch to the "saved" performance, instead of the solo synth tone on zone 1 which should be there as part of the saved performance, I get the OTHER saved solo synth tone on zone one; the one which I had been using for the intro!!! . If I play the intro, push the performance button (switching to my saved performance) and THEN toggle the wheel to the adjacent performance, and then back again to the one I'm wanting to use (before the part of the song that I want to use it on comes around), up pops the correct solo synth tone that I saved with the performance. And all is good. But if I use the saved solo synth tone, then push the performance button, even though I saved that performance with a totally different solo synth tone, it puts the first one in zone one. \ All the other saved tones/zones in the saved performance function correctly. Just the solo synth in zone 1. Any ideas on why this is doing this??? It's driving me bat crap crazy. Thanks
  3. This is in regards to Casio's manuals and tutorials. (Specifically, my new XW-P1) To preface: I admit that I am "old school", and not a computer genius. That being said, neither am I a total idiot. I have two degrees (math and applied science) and was a Sgt. in the USAF. (Talk about having to deal with some idiotic, mostly useless manuals!) I also was a keyboards player back in the days of mini-MOOGS and ARP 2500's and 2600's. (I owned all of them) I'm constantly buying gear, and have never had any problems with manuals or tech support from any of the companies I've dealt with. Until now. BTW: I have been constantly "graded" genius level in all of my schooling, service, etc. When I was a teenager, MENSA contacted me, asking me to join. I'm now 60, have been around the block a few times, and while I admit I'm certainly not the smartest guy in the world (!), I'm most assuredly not a dummy. All that being said (not wanting to brag, I'm just wanting to make a point) I have to tell the people at Casio that their manuals are the saddest, most pathetic waste of perfectly good trees I have ever EVER seen in my life! Never have I seen a more abominable, worthless pieces of s***. The tutorials are excellent --- as far as they go --- which is about 1/2 way through the first chapter of the necessary information. But...Why should a youtube tutorial be necessary at all??? Seriously??? As to "tech support": When I contacted your tech support, I was consistently given completely false and useless information. When I finally insisted on speaking with "the expert", i.e. the guy at Casio that knows more than anyone else about these keyboards, the guy I was connected to told me he didn't even have access to an XW-P1!!! In short - strictly because of this issue - I will NEVER IN MY LIFE ever buy a Casio product again. Yes, I'm 60, but I expect to be purchasing large amounts of gear (as I always have) for at least ten more years. None of it will be Casio. PS. Mr. Martin answered ONE of my questions, and was quite polite, but after receiving a few more questions (very politely worded, not at all like this post), I guess he got tired of answering questions and he simply stopped communicating with me. Way to go, guys!
  4. I own a WK-6000 as well as a XW-P1. The WK piano sounds, even though they (seem to be) proprietary Casio tones, sound FAR better than those on the XW-P1. The XW piano tones all sound muffled. Not horrible, like I said, the WK are far, far better. What gives? Any chance there are new downloadable PCM tones? Thanks

  6. I've set up several performances and they all work fine except for one of them: This performance is set up as follows: I have zone one as a user "drawbar organ" tone, and zone 3 as a PCM preset drawbar organ tone. I have them split on the keyboard with no overlap. (The idea is to have two separate keyboards to use, just like a Hammond.) Well, when I try to adjust the volume of either one, the volume of the other simultaneously changes as well. I don't have this issue with other performance/split keyboards that I've made - just this one. (I've tried using zone 2, 3, or 4 for the PCM tone. Same problem.) Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks
