  1. Sorry, I missed mentioning the piano type. Celviano AP-450. I would be disappointed if the piano could not save "song recorder" audio to a wav. Look forward to hearing from you.
  2. How can save a song recorder song to a WAV file on a USB? If this is in the manual, would appreciate know the page. Page E-19 mentions something similar, but not exactly the same. Thanks! David
  3. Here is something for you all to make using the AP-450 a lot easier. Attached is a function template. I printed it out and then glued the paper onto a cereal box for rigidity. I cut to size with a paper cutter and used an exacto knife to cut away the areas for the blakc keys. The template then fits nicely on the piano. No more referring to the manual mid-song in order to use a function. David P.S. Surprised this is not included with the piano. 2 pieces of light cardboard is not a big cost. Piano Template.pdf
  4. Thank you Jared! It worked. What is the process in Casio to have errors in the manual corrected?
  5. Brad, I think Jared is from Casio right? I looked in the manual and did not find any telephone numbers or email address for warranty issues. Any ideas?
  6. Brad, definitely pushed Song Recorder just like the manual says.
  7. Proof 2. Better angle to see the buttons. Please help.
  8. Brad, thanks for writing. Followed the instructions for deleting track 1 and for deleting track 2. No luck. Here's the proof: No what do I do? How do I get help?
  9. Brad, the track is not deleted. We still have the 'phantom' bass note in there. I can take a video of this if you think it would help.
  10. Hi Brad and Jared. Have really to follow the manual. The video below shows that the piano is behaving differently than what the manual says. Or am I doing something wrong?
  11. Hi Scott and Brad. Just in case you think I'm either lazy or 2 bricks short of a load, there are several areas where the manual is wrong. Honest. I try the manual before I post here. In fact I try and ty and try the manual before I post. I've made a video showing how I am following the manual word for word and the piano is not doing what is written in the manual. Please help. David
  12. Thank you!! Now back to another post I made. How to delete? It does not work. I need help. Any way anyone can call me by phone? Or via iPad Facetime?
  13. If any casio people are reading this, can you please let me know who to contact for a product defect. Each time I record with the song recorder, the piano inserts a "phantom" note after a few seconds. It's always the same note (a very low bass). I can show this to you. I recorded 2 songs and saved them as midi files and attached them to this post. I stopped playing as soon as I heard the deep "phantom" note which means you can hear it at the end of the file. This note is not coming from me, I did not play it in either of the 2 sample files. I happens every time I record a song. Please let me know how to get the piano repaired. (i.e. email address, telephone number etc.) We are in Germany. David Stephens RECSONG66.MID RECSONG62.MID
  14. Brad, Can you check this out on your own piano.... Hitting the "USB mode" key causes a beep. Hitting the save or the load keys does not cause a beep. Very odd. Let me know if this is also the case on your piano. David
  15. Yes, trying to delete a song recorder file. Not an audio recording. No USB is inserted. Any help would be appreciated.
  16. Brad, Thanks for the info. Was out of the country and have only now got a chance to try it out. I have a USB stick already inserted. I click "Function + USB mode" and hear a beep, and the lights blink just as described in the manual. Next I push "Function and the Save key" and nothing happens. No beep and no Grand Piano light flashing. Any help would be appreciated. David
  17. I have followed the instructions in the manual but cannot delete a song in the memory. Here is a video showing what I am doing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, David P.S. There should ALWAYS be feedback to an interface. That's like a rule developers learned in 1980. Deleting a song should give some sort of feedback (a beep?) It doesn't.
  18. Page 26 of the manual says its possible to transfer song date to a USB in MIDI format. I am unable however, to find the instructions on how to do this in the manual. Any help would be appreciated. David
  19. I have finally made it as far as recording to a USB and playing back the songs. Took a while and thanks mostly to Jared for his help. Now that I can record, I want to use the metronome to keep me in time. I was very surprised when I played back the recording to hear that the metronome is also recorded! I find that really pretty odd. There must be a way to use the metronom without it being recorded. Why on Earth would anyone want the metronom as part of a recording? Any help would be appreciated David
  20. Jared, Good news and odd news. First the odd news. Check out this video: I saved 1 chord to USB and tried to play back. See in the video what happens. Completely random notes. Any idea why this happened? ================================= Now the good news. I am able to record and play back. This reason I had so much trouble is the following: The manual says click +/- to cycle through the recorded songs. This is however not at all accurate. You need to click +/- and THEN click the function button while holding down the song button. That makes really no sense. Logical would be to click +/- and hear the song played back WITHOUT having to click other buttons. Suggest you inform your marketing/product design people. Really, just give it a moment's thought: Why would anyone want to have to press additional buttons after clicking +/- ?? I look forward to hearing from you on both points. David
  21. Jared, You have tried to help, I appreciate that. Now... how bout taking the next step and putting a video camera in front of your AP-450 and making an instructional video showing me (and hopefully others) how it's supposed to work. I tried again today -> no luck. That would be nice and I think fair to someone who bought the product, followed the manual and still can't get it to work.
  22. Jared, I appreciate your efforts. Please forward this to your marketing and your R&D people: Do you think the average user needs to have to worry about which "cycle" they are in? It's easy to make an interface difficult. Any one can do that. It's an art to make an interface easy and I'm afraid CASIO failed in this aspect with this piano, despite it being the high-end model. David
  23. Hi Jared. Your comment "The Lights should continue to flash as you record." Yes, that would be logical. Unfortunately it is not happening and the manual says they only flash twice, not continually. Think of any standard video recorer. When you are recording, you get feedback -> a little red light saying "You are recording". On the piano, you get nothing. The video you posted is not for the AP-450. The video is another piano. I have posted 3 videos on youtube showing you exactly what I am doing. Maybe you can see what I am doing wrong. Otherwise.... I have every desire at this point to return the thing and get my money back. David
  24. The USB was already formatted. Did not format again. OK, I got some stuff recorded. Cannot however playback. This is really an interface nightmare. Sorry to say, but who designed this interface? I have a degree in Engineering and cannot get it to work. And my 13 year old for whom I bought it for? I do no think this is anything that Casio should be proud of. Things can be sooooo easy if designed properly. This interface is NOT designed properly. For example, when recording, it flashes briefly. What if I play a 20 minute song and find out it did not record?? Better would be to have the lights flash slowly (every 2 seconds perhaps) to say "Everything is cool, still recording". I follow the instructions but cannot get the files to play back. There are 16 files on the USB. Page 19 says: 1) Press "Audio Recorder" 2) Press "Song Recorder" and it light will light up [This is not the case. Sometimes it lights up, sometimes it doesn't] 3) Hold down "Audio Recorder" and press the "+" or "-" keys (Select Keys) The files should scroll through and play each file. But... this is not the case. All very complicated. The same button is sometimes a "Function" key sometimes an "Audio Recorder". What the fah?? Really, I trusted Casio and spent a lot of money and now I have machine which is simply too complicated for me, let alone a 13 year old girl. The question is now.... Who is going to resolve this. Really not happy.
  25. Thanks. So we agree, the manual is confusing. Now I have a much more serious point... Trying to save to a USB stick. First 2 times, tried, nothing saved. Next time, tried, saved. Played back last recording, completely random keys (very add). Tried opening the file on the computer and it is corrupted. So, for some reason, the piano saved a corrupted file though I never asked it to. And the piano blinks indicating there is no USB inserted even though there is. If I cannot resolve this, what to do? Are there known bugs with this piano? Are there software updates available? How to install etc. How to contact Casio to get it resolved etc. Thanks.
