  1. Would you happen to have a link handy for where you posted info on doing this? I am also thinking of re-spraying the PX to another colour (can be done a guy at another forum did it ) so maybe I can kill two objectives in the one opening session
  2. Yes interesting post Jokey....one thing I have found is that the USB port (front panel) CAN supply power to an external device. I use it to power the Midi Expression iO (which gives me expression pedal and "half-pedaling" for the sustain pedal) works really well. I only use that as an example that sometimes things work in a manner that one would not expect. I tried that as the USB spec (and Casio built the PX within spec for both USB and MIDI afaics) is standard, it port SHOULD provide +/- 5v and it turned out it did. Or thereabouts and certainly enough to run the device. I have noticed over the years that a lot of keyboards use the same ribbon cable and clamp connectors for the keybeds connection to the mobos as well...not saying they are the same just they all use the same method. As for MIDI, there may be a slight timing difference between using midi or the ribbon cable, but I daresay noticeable only on the test bench and not in real-time.
  3. thanks, but it is not just the noise. The sideways movement of the keys has become excessive as well. I mean I may not even go ahead and simply sell it off, and look at something else...haha, might even strip it of the keybed reduce the size (front to back) and add it to another keybed via MIDI, in a modded casing...who knows. Limited only by imagination
  4. As long as there are no master EFX set yes it works...the MFX are hard-wired to stereo. So if you want a bit of say, slapback echo on a bass sound, you'd have to use the insert efx on the part. Bearing in mind you can have only one insert efx per part. So if you also need a compressor, you are out of luck.
  5. Cool, thanks jokeyman Pretty sure we cannot buy from the US site, and in Oz I think their dealer/distributor agreements prevent direct sales, but I'll have a look anyway.
  6. Thanks Joe. Yes I have since learned from Casio Australia that they are obtainable. $650 Now I need to decide if I want to spend that or put it toward, possibly, the new Numa X Piano from Studiologic. Trouble with those is I have heard that first shipments are still way behind (COVID and supply chain issues) and that even in the US it will be at least mid February 2022 before units start to arrive. Which means (usually) even later for Oz,
  7. Yes I did like the -560 and in fact about 9 months cast around for one down here...none available.
  8. Thanks guys. @Jokeyman123 yes I tend to agree that Casio would not sell me a replacement keybed for the PX-5 (although I also doubt if any even exist anymore). Ok, I might have to offload the PX for the best price I can get and look at alternatives. Again, my thanks.
  9. My old PX-5S keybed is so noisy now it is not fun to play (unless audio is very loud haha) so I was wondering if I can find a used PX-S3000 (or 1000) and swap the keybeds over to the PX-5? Reason is I still would need the MIDI capability of the 5S. The S3000 is not quite the same really. They seem to have the same specs, but as always the devil is in the detail so I thought I would ask here and see if any Casio gurus could chime in with an opinion.
  10. Would there be any way the Acoustic Piano sounds on the PX-S3000 could be somehow transferred or copied over to the PX-5S?
  11. Just wondering how to assign a DSP to another part, say, lower? All I can get from the manual is it is, apparently, only available for part one. I can find no clear instruction on how to apply one to another part. Thanks
  12. Trying to turn off the sustain pedal for a part in a setup registration, successfully found the location under ctrl editing, turned the pedal to off, exited back out to the registration screen saved it to the slot, but the sustain pedal is still working. I tried turning off Freeze as well, but nothing seems to work and all the Registrations are not recognising this setting. Any ideas? EDIT: My bad, I'd forgotten I'd started using the pedal unit. I was turning off the Sustain Pedal, it needed to be turned off under Pedal Unit instead.
  13. The USB port can provide power out to an external device, however when I connect, the 3000 automatically tries to mount the port. Can this be turned off? All I want the port for is power, not data. Unfortunately when it is set on Mounting one cannot access registrations or any other thing on it.
  14. Can anyone who actually knows this please respond? I'm not about to spend another $140 on this pedal (and before anyone asks I am NOT in the USA so please do not post links to cheaper!!) if it cannot do this. In fact I am thinking that if it can't, the PX is going back tbh.
  15. Can the messages generated by the SP-34 pedal be set (or is it auto??) to go out the USB MIDI out port, as well as to the local sound generator?
  16. And why you'd put Modulation with Portamento? I mean who came up with these combinations anyway? Maybe Modulation with volume, or even pan, that makes sense, but not porta.
  17. Just tried again, and the registration does NOT recall those settings! So I will now try setting the Auto-Resume..... EDIT: ok it only recalls, if indeed it does at all from a registration) when AutoResume is on. If that's off Hi-Res off is not saved. So that works for me
  18. Thanks Brad - so, similar to the "trick" on the PX-5S. (rhetorical) So at boot it defaults to piano 1, correct? So if I select auto-resume it will load those system settings, and even if I change sounds it won't change? I have noticed that even if I edit these settings and then save to a registration it still reverts back to the factory system settings....are they actually saved in the registration? EDIT: sorry for the late reply, for some reason I did not get a "ping" for your reply.
  19. For example Hi-Res MIDI out, touch response etc? I set these yesterday but when I turned the unit on again today they were back to Hi-Res ON and touch to normal....
