  1. Good to be aware. I'll pay attention to whether to issue changes after transporting the board to/from rehearsal etc. Thanks, Brad.
  2. Thanks, Chandler. This is just more reason for me to bite the bullet and open up the board and try to address the issues I'm experiencing. I'm long past the warranty.
  3. Anyone run into issue where the Bank button is not accepting input on first press. It seems the internal contact or something is going bad. I have to press repeatedly and harder in order for the blue light to light up. It seems to be getting worse, which is disturbing because inevitably I won't be able to change stage settings. Any solution? (By the way, I'm contemplating doing open heart surgery on the board anyways because I also have a bad case of the one of the Bb keys (and now some other keys) making unexpected responses due to the rubber contact pad inside getting all gummed up.) Thanks in advance folks!
  4. Thank you very much, Brad! Looking forward to my next session so I can give it go!
  5. Hello! When selecting a factory phrase to play, say, a drum loop in Zone 1, I can't figure out how to make it continue playing without having to hold a trigger key down. I'd like to trigger the drum loop with a press and release of a key or keys (I do understand how to set up the trigger key or keys, fixed or not...). If I could do that, then I could play along with the drum phrase accompanying me. I notice that in the factory Stage Setting called Piano Groove, the phrase plays continues to play after releasing the trigger key. I'm unable, so far, to "reverse engineer" this Stage Setting and phrase to figure out how that's achieved. I've also noticed, oddly, on Piano Groove if I stop the phrase by pressing the Arpeggio key (turning off the light), and then turn it back on... now that phrase DOES NOT continue to play for me unless I hold a trigger key down constantly. Something gets switched when I turn Arpeggio off then back on within the Piano Groove stage setting. Any insight would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance!
  6. BradMZ, thank you for sharing the Sawyer Time stage setting. It is fantastic! While I did mess around and achieve a setup that would "pass" during a gig, yours is leaps and bounds more authentic sounding. I've got a lot to learn. Over time, I'll dissect the stage setting and come to understand how the sounds were achieved. Thank you again.
  7. You're making it look easy! I'll keep tinkering with it!
  8. Just an update. I finally played with the stage setting BradMZ provided. Using trial and error, I was able to "reverse" the Hex tone so that it swells down, as BradMZ suggested. To do this, I worked with "all" layers of the tone (zone 1), instead of singular layers, and found tweaking the Filter to be more useful than other options. Raising the Initial Level was the key to flipping the swell, and then the Attack Time was used to get the decay rate close to desired. I've got a long way to go. I wish I understood more of what I was actually doing with these adjustments (the Tutorial Manual is a bit of a help, especially when combined with trial and error). But, it sounds pretty good already! I'm dangerous now! Thanks for any more pointers (or files!). I gained even more appreciation for your ability to nail it, Choppin! Nice!
  9. Holy smokes, Choppin, that test sample sounds fantastic! That would certainly do it! I've gotten as far as loading BradMZ's offered stage setting on my PX-5s. Haven't had time yet to mess around with any edits (trying to be productive for a while so I can disappear with the keyboard later tonight!). I'm not sure I'll be capable of applying the theoretical technical tweaks and approaches you and he have suggested. But, I'll let you know...
  10. Thank you, BradMZ. I'll play with this shortly. Doing so will challenge me to dive deeper into the keyboard's capabilities. I set up and tweak a bunch of stage settings to accommodate our large and dynamic repertoire of cover songs. But, I've not had to manipulate filter envelopes and the like. I'll keep you posted... This exercise may lead to further questions!
  11. Hello, all! Has anybody figured out how to create/replicate the synth sound in Rush's Tom Sawyer? Specifically, I'm talking about the song's initial synth hit (at the very start of the song), which is then repeated periodically throughout the song. If anyone can share an upload I'd be grateful! The band I'm in is going to add this to our cover list asap, and I'd love to get that sound right! Thank you! (I'm SO excited to rock this priceless piece!)
  12. I bought my PX-5S in February, and haven't yet received my decal! Since I don't recall if I registered online, I just went and (re?) registered. Can't wait for my sticker! BTW, I finally played my first gig (the primary reason I bought the PX-5S) in June! The PX-5S carried me through, and it was amazing! Loving the keyboard!
  13. Thanks, Brad! I got all wrapped up and it's been right there in front of me! The machine is way smarter than me....
  14. Folks, I have to ask... Anyone come up with a really good stage setting or tone for Van Halen's Jump? I thought I had it by simply layering Saw Leads 2 and 3. Also, I felt close with Krullebolle's downloaded Simple Retro 80s Synth. But, unless I'm on headphones, these both are not sounding smooth enough (way too much feedback or rasp or something.... too "loud"?). I wonder if it's just the speakers in my home set-up (haven't had the chance to try it where the gig equip is set up...).
  15. Thank you, Mike (BTW, mega kudos for the PX-5S, your impressive individual role, Casio, and this awesome community...! I'm going to learn more than I ever imagined!). So, the "!" is my cue for this condition... got it! It's not a Hex-thing. Makes sense and sheds perspective in general. On a related note, just sharing that I find I'm reluctant to replace factory Stage Settings with my gig-specific Stage Setting needs because I value the factory templates as examples of what the PX can do, inspiration, and possible solutions for me. So, NICE JOB, Casio, with the factory settings! Nonetheless, since I still gotta save my gig-specific Stage Settings (still a work in progress), I'm loving the ability to save the factory Stage Settings off-board, along with any other Stage Settings for that matter! That, along with all the very useful and awesome user-created Stage Settings accumulating in the Downloads section, I predict much fun in developing and maintaining a personal organized approach to managing the 100 onboard Stage Setting slots, and the growing number of Settings files not currently in use, stored on my PC. Maybe we users can share some sea stories on what's working best for us in managing this stuff. I'll let the group know if I figure something out that's particularly useful. (What a blast...!!!)
