  1. The XWP1 and PX150 are sitting on a custom built stand that rotates infinite times in either direction, as well as being height adjustable. A $200.00 slip ring allows all of the power and foot pedal circuits to tun through it. Both boards are set to have their local keys, OFF. The boards will not. function without them being mapped through my Macbook that is running MainStage 2 and Logic9. This trio makes for one powerful on stage rig. The XW is a workhorse and is one of finest midi controllers i I've used to date. It reminds me of the ESQ-1 back in the mid 80's. " Except the XW actually works!" I can honestly say that I'm proud to use CASIO as my boards of choice. P.S. Dear Casio, Please make a firmware update; "If possible," that allows the HOLD button assignable to the sustain pedal or a midi control number. It would be a beautiful thing to be able to control the hold function with the pedal, or a midi assignment.
  2. I've got to play that board! I bought my PX150 before the 5S was introduced. I know I'll end up buying a 5S eventually. Hey, the PX150 has an on board amp and speakers. There's my excuse to buy a 5S. The PX was made for the home and the 5S will take its place on the stage. Yeah, I think that I could sell that to her....
  3. Jordan isn't human… What a player! Even he must admit to how much easier it is to process midi data today rather than 25 years ago. Man… I was running a Midi Mapper, 2 MEP4's two patch bays, one JL Copper midi link, two mergers and a dedicated multitrack sequencer. That's just the MIDI Processing equipment. Then there were the samplers, and synth modules. One Macbook running Logic and Mainstage blows all of that out of the water. Although, "The Midi Mapper can still hang" It's still relevant today... If you can find one that still works. Love the leads! Keep em coming.
  4. I too like that very breathy Sax tone. If you or anybody comes across an overblown tenor, please, please post it. That is the one sax tone that I used to use a lot back in the late 80's - early 90's. I think this current tone layered with an over blown tenor would make an incredible tone. I'm just getting back into playing again after a twenty one year hiatus. One of my old bands wants to get together for a 25 year reunion gig. So, I assembled some of my old equipment and one by one the old gear was failing. I already committed to doing this gig, so all I had was my Roland XP-80. I decided to download Mainstage 2 from Apple for $29.95. It took five nights to download all of it. I was amazed that it could do even more than all of my old equipment combined. So I needed a 88 key weighted action digital piano. It was a no brainer. Casio Privia series. I bought the PX150. It worked wonderfully with the roland and It routed through my Macbook. Then the sound card went out in XP-80. I wasn't about to spend $2k on a new synth or workstation. At first I wasn't impressed with the XW. I went on line and checked out its midi implementation. That got my attention. Then there was the price… under $400.00! I'm so damn happy I bought that synth. I didn't like the step sequencer. Now I love it. Didn't like the fact that it didn't have channel aftertouch. Don't miss it a bit. And wouldn't you know it… It has some really amazing sounds too. Why would anybody spend money on a midi controller, when for the same price you get so much more with XW series. Sorry….didn't mean to rant. Keep the tunes coming, sounds great!
  5. One XW and one Privia run through a Mac using Mainstage 2 and Logic 9 ( An unbeatable Combo!) Class compliant ready USB… Awesome Job CASIO!!! https://soundcloud.com/qwerty5511/rockaria-classic-elo
