  1. I actually had a conflicting webinar already scheduled so I missed it live. I'm looking forward to watching the recording.
  2. Have you tried MIDI Monitor? That will tell you if your Mac is seeing the MIDI from the PX-160 at least. Let us know what that tells you. http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/
  3. You can download the alternate order version of the stage settings, which puts all the acoustic pianos in bank 1, electric pianos in bank 2, etc. And you can move around within a bank just by pressing one of those ten buttons once you're in the bank.
  4. I'm not familiar with that particular model, but many Casios now auto-detect the way the pedal works on startup, whether it is normally open or normally closed. So be sure to have the pedal plugged in when you start the WK, and don't touch it until the startup sequence is complete. If that doesn't fix it, was the pedal one that came in the box with the keyboard? You may need the other type. Or if there is a switch on the pedal, switch it. (Note that people will often refer to the type of pedal as "polarity" but that's not technically correct.)
  5. It could be a dirty sensor or contact. If you don't feel up to disassembling and cleaning it yourself (there are posts here about people doing this), then you'd have to take it in for service. Sorry that I don't know where for you.

Since you're on a Mac, download the free app MIDI Monitor. It will tell you if the computer is seeing the MIDI coming from the keyboard. That will tell you if it's connected properly. Then we can go from there. http://www.snoize.com
  7. Ohhh - you're playing all those tones through the same stage setting (0-0). You should select different stage settings via the buttons on the right. Those should sound different to you. I'm not sure how different it sounds by the way you're changing things, probably not much.
  8. If this is the case, you might be able to "fix" it by plugging and unplugging headphones until the speakers work again. The switch in the jack might be stuck. Try all jacks if there is more than one. However, be aware that this may or may not fix the problem long term and you may need repair as Brad says.
  9. It's on the Casio web site under manuals.
  10. They are all over the U.S. but I have no idea about other parts of the world. I don't know if anyone from Casio Europe is on here to answer your question officially, though someone from Casio America might be able to find out for you. Good luck - it's a great keyboard!
  11. You don't open the file on your Mac, you drag it to the MUSICDAT folder on the USB stick. Once it's copied there, you can eject the USB stick from your Mac, put it in your PX-5S, and load it there. The "loading sounds" video should show you how to load them from the USB stick. Also, the USB stick needs to be formatted a certain way. Your best bet is to take a blank one and format it on your PX-5S before you insert it in your Mac. How to do that may be in the same video but I'm not sure.
  12. Yes, this keyboard should come with a complete power supply and a working volume knob. Sorry for the problems you and your girlfriend are having with it, but hopefully you can get a working unit in short order and she'll be able to enjoy how great this keyboard is!
  13. Merry Christmas! That is weird. I've never encountered it nor heard of anyone else having that problem, either. Hopefully someone will come up with some ideas of what you can try.
  14. The CGP-700 sounds fine without the external speakers, just not as great as with them. (I played two different CGP-700s today and demo it with and without the external speakers on all the time to show the difference.) That being said, I've never had the external speakers On but disconnected. I've always turned them off and on via the System Settings menu.
  15. This has been a common feature of keyboards with speakers from what I've read. People dig it!
  16. Good for you Dave! I hope it sells like hotcakes, or chocolate cake, or whatever.

    PX-560

I haven't actually played the 560, but I've spent a lot of time with the CGP-700, which is similar. That color touchscreen makes it so easy it's silly. I've never had an easier time with a keyboard, especially doing things like splits and layers as well as transpose. If you are located near a Guitar Center, go try the CGP-700.
  18. These things sound incredible, Dave. Nice work! I hope they get the places that they deserve - everywhere!
  19. The way I describe them is the rhythms are patterns you can play along with and that play along with you. You can hold down notes or chords depending on the setting with your left hand and the keyboard will play accompaniment according to what you play. The music presets are more like songs where the arrangement and chord progression is already specified. You simply play along with it.
  20. Brad meant "back up". It's definitely in there under two words, not one.
  21. I was wondering why you weren't going back to the repair shop with this question, but the mode thought isn't a bad one. Still, I'd call the shop, they'll probably tell you to bring it back in.
  22. The "extra" data posted in your debug output from FL Studio is definitely high resolution MIDI data. To be clear, hi res MIDI is part of the current MIDI spec and is correct, but unfortunately some older devices and software used that controller number (CC#88) for other things prior to the specification approval. As software gets updated this problem will go away for software but older hardware devices that used CC#88 will usually be stuck (like my Nord Electro 2). To get this working properly, you'll either need to tell FL Studio to ignore or filter CC#88, have it look for those control changes on another channel, or update/upgrade FL Studio to a version that meets the new MIDI spec.
