  1. I'm so fed up with the components of the 7500 breaking, I've become interrested in the Casio CT-X5000 because of demo videos. But I notice the same darn volume knob. If you have migrated, what are the pros and cons. I do like the return of the keypad for direct selection of tones by number! A far, far better solution than that stupid spinning wheel thing. I
  2. I had that problem in the 7500 from the very start, and somewhere on this forum, I asked about it. My work-around is put a simple no, no, no, set in the #1 / #1 bank. Just turn on the keyboard and the opening default sound, store in the 1/1 slot. So any time you're in an exotic setup, return to 1/1 and you're back to normal. Now you can select others from the direct input methods without fear of octaves, etc. :-) It was irritating ... we do "Pirate Looks At 40" and with split keyboard, piano below and Steel Drums on the top -- but steel drums had to be lowered an octave. Going from that set, to any other sound left that new selection an octave too low. YIKES! I came up with the fix above after I finally figured out what's going wrong.
  3. FOLLOW UP . . . I got my knob fixed, and now four gigs later, the NEW one is going out!!! THE SECOND VOLUME KNOB HAS GONE OUT I had to go back and borrow a WK3800 from a friend to get through gigs. CASIO seriously needs a "Quality" control on some of its components.
  4. FOLLOW UP : The headphone jack works like a charm! So my problem is solved to a certain degree for these upcoming gigs. Come out of the headphone jack, into and out of the Ernie Ball expression pedal, on to the amps and bingo I'm in business. The signal even seems stronger, and louder! Also, a Sweetwater tech guy gave me the contacts for an actual service center where I can take the keyboard to get it fixed.
  5. Hey ... thanks for that! I do have the Ernie Ball expression pedal ! Consider this : an old time Casio guy (actually the guy who introduced me to the WK) suggested I NOT attempt to take the cabinet apart to replace the volume pot because too many screws and other things fall out . . . BUT . . . He then suggested plugging the pedal into the PHONES jack, in-line to the amp -- should be a workable solution because the phone jack kills the speakers! (says I may even enjoy a louder output than the regular line-out jack!) I'm about to try this once I pick up a Stereo to Mono cable. The Ernie Ball does go from zero, no-sound to 'full' At the end of the day, I think at best, this is a good excuse to buy another keyboard! :-)
  6. So, what you're saying ... after re-reading this a dozen times -- is I bought the wrong keyboard! :-( But I love playing "alone" ... I love the sound quality of the built-in speakers when playing alone or in a small acoustic venue with other acoustic players ... I love the array of 'voices' and am relatively successful with emulating various sounds on popular music (Except steel guitar, as mentioned in a previous post) ... love the "battery" feature, light weight, and relatively good looking "black" professional stage look. It is really superb for 'showing up' at the corner jam or the friend's living room with acoustic guitars without amps, and no need to 'plug in' ! Having said all that, I still love my WK3800 for sounds, easy use at live gigs. But it was 'silver' and looked more like a Casio toy, being the brunt of many jokes at live gigs, so it's retired to the vacation home in Florida. I've lusted after the Hammond SK1 for years but just can't bring myself to pull the trigger ... if it had internal speakers like the Casio, I would probably jump for it. I'm too old to be hauling around 90lb Roland speakers every time I want to play and too cheap to provide an external amp at every place I like to play. No reply necessary.
  7. LOL ... guess I should have said "besides the 7600" . . . which for all intensive purposes, doesn't have any real advantages over the 7000 other than the "Teaching" feature. ( still has the faults of the 7500)
  8. IF I cannot fix my broken volume knob, which other keyboards should I shop for ... which include built-in speakers??? I've really become quite attached to having built-in speakers! Thanks for any leads. YOu can include links if you wish! :-)
  9. If the volume knob is broken, then can the speakers be turned off, and volume controlled by an expression peddle like a regular organ? My knob is broken, stuck on maximum volume. 😞
  10. Someone said "IF the volume is wide open, then turn off the speakers, and use a foot "expression" peddle to control the volume to external amp/speakers." Can this be done? If so, how? The book says nothing about turning off the speakers. :-) Thanks
  11. Have you had this problem? Suddenly, my volume is wide open and the volume knob does nothing! Replace the knob? Is that even possible? I have a gig Friday night!
  12. Had a rather disturbing event at a gig and have been able to reproduce it. You go into a registry . . . let's say piano with Steele Drums in the top part of the split. I've lowered the Steel Drums an octave so I can play in the middle, but with the top three octaves of the keyboard. Okay ... song's over , and the next song is organ ONLY so I hit the Organ button BOOM I'm playing organ but when it goes to the top notes they suddenly change to Steele Drums ... OH NO! Switching to Organ, I find the register from the previous song did not give up!!! How do you "clear" the last registry??? Thanks
  13. Thanks for your reply. I'm just beginning to understand. Back when there was a CASIO forum on Yahoo, I remembered someone having TWO Bose sticks, and their formula was run one out the left and the other out the right, and through some configuration in the WK3800 they caused the Leslie to phase back and forth, and gave out a true tonewheel sound -- with actual movement like the original Leslie cabinets. I obviously never tried it because I only had one amp. I can no longer access that forum.
  14. I don't know what a "computer-based VSTi's" is. I'll keep trying to modify ... there's an organ sound in the draw bars, coupled with perc that's very close here's another one we used to do and the WK3800 Steele was superb . . .
  15. Gosh. I did not know all that. No, not looking for exact same set up -- just seeing what others are doing, and IF anyone is actually using the WK7500 or 7600 for performance. It was an economical keyboard with lots of goodies ... and alone (as you say) has some very good sounds! But I had no idea it's the keyboard that won't compete -- not the amps. I'm now looking at a Bose L1. I've been away from the music biz for 45 years, and just picking back up. Our band is a local bunch of old guys, and about 3 or 4 gigs a month is it. I'm not quite sure if I want to invest several thousands of dollars in a new keyboard. Thanks for the advice.
  16. Is there anyone still reading this forum? If you use your CASIO to play in a band, please reply with : the keyboard(s) you use the amplification the size and type of band / music IF you want, also include YouTube links to video of your band, or your band's web address. I have a WK 7500 and have been having a terrible time with amps, and outdoor gigs. It just doesn't cut through the band noise. Thanks :-)
  17. My 3800 had the perfect steel guitar sound ... perfect attack ,etc. Most of you are probably too young to remember the Byrds "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" but that CASIO had the PERFECT sound . . . I traded up for a new WK 7500, and the sound seems to be missing . . . can anyone help me find the Pedal STEELE GUITAR on the WK 7500:
  18. I need help . . . I plug into a BOSE L1 mini ... the smaller sister of the L1 ... it's great BUT cannot stand up to a band with drums, or outside. So I bought a Yamaha speaker, which also "almost" cuts it . . . . QUESTION : Two outputs on 7500 . . . can I plug ONE into the BOSE and the OTHER into the YAHAMA ??? assuming that works, which it doesn't for me, Will the sound be separated between the speakers as in RIGHT and LEFT ??? :-) THANKS for any help you can offer,
  19. What's the quickest way to return to 1-1 on the registry???? Okay, I played the song using 2-6 now next song is 1-1 ???? Too bad Casio removed the Keypad for selecting tones -- that is a design flaw.
  20. What happened to Pedal Steel ???? The 3800 had a great Pedal steel sound . . . they seem to have removed it from the WK 7500 ??? Unless the paper print listing of sounds is wrong. What were they thinking????? Anybody know how to get a pedal steel sound?
  21. Yes, and had a WK 3800 but never really did anyting with it other than just live performance with unaltered tones. Then several years off, now back with a 7500, expecting it to be a low easier, but disappointed because it has the same level of complication as the 3800 ... and not a good of sounds. The 3800 had a killer hammond, and the leslie was convincing. Why they eliminated that, I have no idea!
  22. I need to do a volumn correction and don't know how. In the song "Long Black Veil" by the BAND off the "Big Pink" album, they start the song with a killer electric piano. During the chorus an "Theater" organ comes in the background ... sounding very "Band" When I split the keyboard 60's Vintage Electric Keyboard and "Theater Organ" the volumn of the organ is about 100 times that of the Whirly and blows up the speakers. It's supposed to be very subtle in the background. So: How to turn down the UPPER split ??? Thanks
  23. Casio 7500 When I kick in the leslie on any of the drawbar Organ setups, it seems to go way too fast, causing sort of a warbling sound. Has anyone figured out a fix for this???? Is there a way to set the speed?
