  1. 3000's short fulcrum and heavier key weight than my PX-5S = an issue for me. Is there any way to lighten the action? I don't mean the touch response. I mean like shaving weight off the weights. I get fatigued, and I have good piano technique. I don't have this issue with my PX-5S. Thanks.
  2. Hey, this answered the question I just posted in a new topic, so that can be deleted. I was confused since I was not using a stage setting (or so I though, since I was not using an internal sound source). Anyway, I set my PX5S to "tenor saxophone key" (Bb) and that lowest "A0" means that the "B" two notes above is actually the lowest sounding note. Not to be a total nerd, but how to get those last two notes (Bb, A, which now "sound" as Ab and G)? How to input the desired lowest note OTHER than using a key to select same? Thanks...
  3. OK, so I set up a split for piano and bass... Now, I want to use a VST piano (Ivory Fazoli). I can use "Omni" for MIDI channel, and the entire ranger for the keyboard sounds the Fazoli piano sounds. BUT: If I use MIDI channel 1, only the range that I assigned to the piano (for Casio sounds) sounds. The rest (bass area) is silent. I can't figure out how to make the zone "whole." Hopefully that is enough information... Thanks...
  4. OK, I've got "local control off" to permit my VST electric piano to play across the entire keyboard. I've done that on a global basis, by pressing "sys setting" and then paging through the MIDI choices (transpose, octave shift) to get to "local control." Now what do I do to assign "local control off" to a specific zone only (rather than the entire keyboard) so as to permit me to use the PX5S bass along with the VST electric piano? Also, pressing the zone buttons doesn't seem to do anything at this juncture (if I want to use, say, as VST bass). Tx...
  5. I don't know if this question should go here or in the controller section, but is it possible to use a combination of a virtual instrument and the sounds on the PX5S? As an example, a VST Rhodes and the Casio's bass. Similarly, how about varying the split point for two virtual instrument, again, say, electric piano and bass, both VSTs. Thanks...
  6. For the programmer types out there: Whatever split point you pick (say C, C#) between bass and piano will work well for some tunes, but not others, depending upon key, etc. For example, I was trying this with "Cherokee," a really fast Be Bop warhorse. It's in Bb. I'd want the split point probably at F/F#. Currently, I get some bass notes and some piano notes in the walking bass line. Is there a way to assign the split point to one of the knobs or sliders? I'm guessing there isn't, since they are independent. If not, what would be the workaround? Create a dozen of them and plop them into adjacent stage settings? Thanks...
  7. BradMZ, there is indeed a "take01" wav file in the "music.dat" folder, and it plays back on my computer. I tried to record several takes, but the others are not there. That's OK, as I captured the song idea. I renamed it on the computer and, sure enough, for playback on the Casio it said "no file" under "audio select." So, apparently, in order to rename files (and therefore have some idea as to what they are), the workaround would be to copy, rename one (for computer playback use, keeping the take number to correlate with the non-renamed version), and keep one as is, for Casio playback use. Then look to the file folder on the computer to see what's what. As to writing, I followed the above directions and a new "take01" was indeed saved and plays back on the Casio without renaming. Per the above, it is not necessary to utilize the "write" or "ENT" save protocol. That was what was confusing me (page 11 of the the manual). Jokeyman123, I use VLC media player or Transcribe to play files on my computer. I'll check out that Goldwave. Thanks, guys. You should rewrite the manual!
  8. I just spent the last 20 minutes trying to record and then play back something that came to mind - and to save it, and name it. All I got was "take one," "take two," etc. I failed (I think). I read the directions in the manual. Nothing is intuitive. Nothing would play back, however. So.... Please, some simple, step by step instructions for recording your own playing. Not a phrase, just one's own playing. Just use "start playing" to start recording. Don't need the other methods. This can't be that difficult! Thanks, and please don't say "watch the videos." Unless I'm prepared to spend the next several hours just trying to figure out one thing, that won't help. The videos are great, but they're not a book and lack an index or table of contents. The info in the manual was useless and did not work.
  9. I own the Kawai MP11, which features a similar but improved keyboard to the Kawai VPC1. I've now owned the Casio PX5S long enough to make the following comparison: The Kawai is like butter. It's landing is softer. It's touchweight is slightly lighter. It's key length and pivot is much longer. Thus playing on the inside of the keys is easier. There is more throw in the Kawai. The Kawai weight almost three times as much as the Casio. The Kawai feels more like an actual piano. The Kawai has a much simpler interface and is easy to use. It only has 40 sounds and really fulfills a different function. The VPC1 has touch curves that are germane to the individual VST instruments. The MP11 does not. I think the Kawai MP11 is about as realistic a piano keybed as is available for less than 10 grand or so. The Casio is probably 90 percent of the Kawai. I'm glad I own both.
  10. To change volute of external devices: SYS Setting button 69666 -/no or +/yes buttons to actually lower or raise volume This type of command sequence would be helpful in chart form; i.e., list what the desired function is, then the buttons to press as set forth above. My problem is that I'm a "Random Abstract," like Branford. This board uses menues and submenues, like Wynton: "Consequential Sequential." That's what Ellis called 'em. Perhaps a page could be made so that everybody could contribute?
  11. The title really states the question, but to repeat - I want to change from just electric piano (or just piano) to an electric piano / bass split - on the fly. So, I would go from comping to walking bass lines, then back to just piano, etc. I need to do this immediately, not by going through multiple pages/menus. Is there a one button solution? Thanks.
  12. I am shopping for a tablet. There are many things that I do not like about the Apple product line (anything of them). I won't list those here. Thus, is the app or a like one available for Android? Thanks.
