  1. Thanks for that thought Joe. I hardly ever use the headphones and definitely not prior to finding this problem. Wouldn't expect the headphone switch to stick on it's own. If I lose the speakers again, I'll certainly insert/remove a jack plug.
  2. Has anyone had this problem ?? Suddenly the speakers failed after one year. I upgraded to Firmware 1.14 and after that discovered the problem. However, I did not notice it immediately since I also run the keyboard through an amp & speakers. So I can't necessarily blame the update. Also, the headphone sockets worked fine when the speakers failed. Anyway, I decided to go back to Firmware 1.10. Speakers still dead ! Unplugged the DC power connector and the 3-Pedal SP33. Lifted the keyboard off the stand, took a look around everything. Placed back on stand, plugged in power and pedals. Speakers are working again ! Loose connection somewhere ? Power supply issue ? Looks like I'll have to wait and see. Hmmmm....... not too happy.
  3. Coming back to the original issue on this post - volume adjustment for each instrument in the arranger. I posted about this several months ago and I consider it a frustratingly basic limitation which should be fixed. My 20 year old Korg i30 has this capability for all arranger features (volume, pan etc) which then get saved to a registration. The only way on the PX-560 is to create your own rhythm from the existing presets and then use it in a registration. But of course you can only create 20 user rhythms. I don't know if the MZ range offer this capability, but any modern day keyboard of this calibre should have it ! However, I do know that any instrument within the arranger can be turned OFF via the mixer function, then saved as part of a registration. But really, all adjustable features within the mixer should be capable of being saved to a registration. This capability is not rocket-science. How about out another update on this one Casio?
  4. Yes, I have had several screen freezes over the last year since purchase. Have updated to Firmware 1.10 and that didn't change the freezes. So not firmware related. I find it happens only when editing sounds. If i jump around 'too fast' changing parameters, it can freeze. Seems like the processor can't keep up. By giving it, say ten seconds, sometimes it catches up. Other times I have to power off. Certainly frustrating if you've just spent a while modifying a tone. However, the usual rule applies - keep saving your modifications !
  5. Great ! We go there ! Many thanks BradMZ for the info. My ideal solution would be just an ON/OFF control, but this solution is acceptable. Since it takes a full 360 degrees of a knob (K1,2,3) to apply the full DSP effect, I prefer to assign the Mod-Wheel. This has been a good bit of online education. Hope it's helped some others.
  6. I have given this a try as follows - without success. The Tone I'm using is a HexLayer. In the DSP section I set the 'wet' adjustment to zero. Then, for K1 Controller area, chose the 'wet' function. Yes, the knob does indicate that the DSP 'wet' level is changing. However, the change is not to the DSP; it changes the VOLUME of the Tone from 0 to 127. I would have expected that the DSP aspect only would be adjusted. Have I done something wrong or have I uncovered a problem ?
  7. Brad, I need to check this out with various Tones and DSP effects. But I doubt if it matters which Tone or which DSP. It's just the fact that the 'DSP Bypass' has two modes - On or Off. Off means the DSP is active. On means the DSP is inactive. Despite trying to save a Registration with it in the ON mode, it actually saves it in the OFF mode. Maybe there is some other way. I'd like to find it !
  8. I have set up a Controller knob to allow a Tone's DSP effect to be bypassed. That works fine. The Tone is in UPPER 1 and DSP can be switched off and on as required. In some situations I would prefer the DSP to be 'OFF' when I select a Registration. Then operate the Controller knob to turn it on when required. Even if I store a Registration when the DSP is bypassed it will not retain that setting. I guess that's understanable since Tones get called up with their programmed settings i.e. with DSP enabled. Anyone know how to save a Registration with a 'dry' Tone, then use a Controller to swich it's DSP on?
  9. Hi, I'm trying to get a Rhodes sound which has a nice 'bell' tone in the upper registers; and a 'bark' in lower registers when you increase the velocity. This is achieved on high-end keyboards because it is inherent in the original sample detail. Maybe there is a way of creating the effect using a Hex-Layer. I'm trying this already but not quite there yet. Mike Martin has done some good Rhodes Tones already which I like very much. I've also tried the Steve Weingart versions. However, if my 'bell & bark' requirement has been achieved on the PX-5S it would be great to get it for the PX-560. Anybody got a lead on this ?
  10. Many thanks AlenK for your info. The grand piano's four velocity layers (with interpolation) certainly makes sense from what I've read elsewhere. I guess these velocity layers may be similar for the AIR Elec.Piano and AIR 60's E.Piano. They represent Rhodes and Wurly keyboards. So, what vintage keyboards are the Elec.Piano 1 thru 5; and Digital E.Piano 1 thru 9 ? As an aside issue I wonder if someone could verify if their PX560 displays the following odd situation. When I try to edit HexLayer Preset 037 (Hex Pipe Organ) all 6 'waves' display 'GrPiano1-L'. Yet the 6 audible sounds are definitely organs ! Does my keyboard have a problem, or is it some kind of addressing issue in Casio's software ? Thanks for the help.
  11. HexLayers are a big selling point for Casio and an impressive feature. I have created a few and have a reasonable understanding of the structure and control features. Some more information may be helpful. I wish to use the exact same raw wave in my HexLayers that are used in a preset tones. Unfortunately, when modifying a preset tone it's not possible to identify the raw wave. For example, lets say I want to start my HexLayer with the wave used for Preset Tone 1 - Grand Piano Concert. How do I know what wave(s) to use ? Is it made from Wave 001 GrPiano1-L and perhaps 002 GrPiano1-R ? Similarly, for all other Preset Tones. How do I identify the raw wave ?
  12. I 'd like to buy an expression pedal that definitely works properly with my PX-560. From what I've read here, there is a problem. I have an Korg expression pedal which works well on my Korg keyboard, but only the first 25% of travel works on the PX-560. No doubt this is something to do with the potentiometer impedance. Are any senior forum contributors, who own a PX-560, aware of this issue ? And is Casio looking at the problem ?

Hi All, I've had my PX560 for a couple of months now; very much enjoying it. I'm a seasoned player having owned many keyboards over the years. So I'm quickly finding my way around and now have a reasonable grasp of the architecture. A question ref accompaniment instruments - In a registration, I can save many settings. However the Preset instruments in the accompaniment section seem totally FIXED. All I can do is switch instruments OFF and that will be saved within a registration. I really need to adjust volume levels and save them. I've tried to do this using the Mixer section, but it will not hold the volume changes in a registration. I know that I can create what I want by editing an accompaniment section and store it in one of 30 'user' locations. I've done it! I prefer to reserve that area for more detailed adjustments. Seems like Casio have missed something fundamental in what is a very powerful keyboard. And I have installed the latest software level. Hope someone can help - thanks.
