  1. I use Cakewalk Sonar Artist. You can download the instrument definition file I created for Cakewalk on this site. Makes editing SO much easier when the editor "understands" your keyboard configuration. ;-)
  2. The simplest answer is that not all MIDI files are created equal. Sometimes you have to take a file into a MIDI editor and rearrange the channels so the X500 can more easily recognize the patterns for extraction. It works best for me when I set channel 9 = Bass, 10 = Drums, 11 = Percussion and 12 through 16 = Accompaniment . See page A1 "Part and MIDI Channel Assignments and Diagram" in the MZ-X500 Tutorial PDF. Nice MIDIs by the way! ;-)
  3. You could edit the PADs. I think the default Velocity is 100. You can boost them to 127. Also the PADs are touch sensitive, more volume can be had by striking the PAD harder. ;-)
  4. AHA! Thank you. Keep forgetting about A-B-C ports!
  5. If it is a User sample, I would think you would just make sure the sample is normalized for maximum levels before importing it into the keyboard.
  6. Don't Pads just play MIDI data locally? I haven't found a way to send a midi control signal to the MIDI output when pressing a Pad yet. Maybe I'm missing something? Wouldn't be the first time!
  7. No excuse here. I do not need a review now, as I already have purchased my MZ-X500 and have all the manuals. When I have a question I find the manuals are pretty good at answering them.
  8. Moontom, In that price range I think you would be better off with the Korg PA4X - $1500 cheaper with awesome sampling.
  9. In fingered 1, 2, or 3 you can use just two notes, a 5th or an 8th (octave)
  10. I think the answer is on page A2 of the Appendix ... Unlike Fingered 1, 2, and 3, Full Range Chord requires pressing of at least three keys to form a chord. Casio could have been clearer and noted that the 'three keys' must be unique to the intended chord (octaves not allowed as an octave does not add differentiation)
  11. Nobody mad at you ;-) We just need time to test this out. Be back later.
  12. The English translation is pretty hilarious!!! This keyboard has 'fish' and 'snack bar' LOL He basically is just going through the spec sheet.
  13. I don't think you can. This is all I found on using an external instrument with MIDI for Logic Pro X http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10.4/#/lgsifc5bfcdb Good luck!
  14. That's the FIRMWARE 1.5 Users Guide. You can copy data from the PDF to a spreadsheet.
  15. You never know, I may add one to my collection while they're still available. $499 at Zzounds! ;-)
  16. Thank you Alen! By the way, I downloaded your "The XW-P1 Companion" and have been reading it cover to cover. Excellent work!!! KUDOS!!!
  17. I was able to successfully open the document in iBooks on my iPad 2 running iOS 9.3.5. Your mileage may vary. ;-)
  18. Not sure Randy. I'll get my iPad out of moth balls and see if I can find out what's going on. The file is a plain PDF.
  19. I got really tired of searching through 5 different manuals when trying to look up something, so I concatenated them into one PDF file. You can search all 5 files at once. ;-) Combined Manuals Included: Web_MZX500_300-ES-1A_EN.pdf (USERS GUIDE BASICS) Web_MZX500_300-E-2A_EN.pdf (USERS GUIDE TUTORIAL) Web_MZX500APPEND-140-WL-1A_EN.pdf (APPENDIX) MZX_midi_imple_EN.pdf (MIDI IMPLEMENTATION) Web_MZX500_300-150-E-1A_EN.pdf (FIRMWARE VERSION 1.50 USERS GUIDE) Note: Casio has used the same page numbers across all their manuals, so for example you will find two EN-22 pages, one in Web_MZX500_300-ES-1A_EN.pdf and the other in Web_MZX500_300-E-2A_EN.pdf.
  20. The parable has been used to illustrate a range of truths and fallacies; broadly, the parable implies that one's subjective experience can be true, but that such experience is inherently limited by its failure to account for other truths or a totality of truth. Many people on this forum have shared their beliefs about what is right and wrong with Casio and what direction would be best for the company with regard to the MZ-X500. I would humbly suggest that no one here has the "totality of truth" with regards to Casio's plans and goals and how they may relate to the MZ-X500..
  21. This topic reminds me a bit about the parable of the blind men and the elephant. You can read about it here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_men_and_an_elephant
