This is a hex layer attempt at the landing jet at the beginning and end of "Back in the USSR", by the Beatles. The zip file contains an MP3 of the sample so you can listen to it before you go through all the effort of loading it into the PX-5S.

Firmware v1.10 Required This Stage Setting includes a modified Concert Grand Piano Tone. In this Stage Setting, the main Concert Grand tone on the PX-5S has been modified with a lower "initial Attack". Some players like this more melodic piano tone. This piano tone also features a narrower amplitude range which makes it easier to control.
  3. Nice to meet all of you. This is my first post. I´ve been Casio keyboards user for years. Now, I just bought a PX-5S for using it mainly as MIDI controller. I work with FL Studio and I am moving now to Presonus Studio One. But I have two doubts. As controllers, I use a Privia PX5S and a Korg nanoKontrol. From the Korg, I only recognize one knob (and no fader). I am asking asking in nanoKontrol´s forum. From PX-5S recognizes the Pitchbend wheel, the Modwheel and the faders, but no knob. Is this normal? How can I solve that? I found these patch scripts: https://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=2260 No one for my DAWs Could I use any of them? Thanks for your help. Kind regards.
  4. Hi everybody. Probably a silly question. As I navigate the possible targets that can be assigned to the pedals I'm having difficulties understanding what do they actually mean. I see a lot of names like "CC02:" that have no description and seem to have zero effect over the sound when the pedal is pressed. Or fpr example, on stage settings such as 1-4 I find that the target for Pedal 1 is "Wah Manual" but I can't find the way to set that target for a custome stage setting. Is it maybe something related to the Tone settings? Is there some place in the manual where I can find a list of the meanings of all posible targets? I don't think so. Any tip is welcome, and you are allowed to give brutal feedback to this newbie XD

Stage Setting and Phrases for Baba O'riley by The Who. To work properly, you will need to download the phrase files and place them on your PX-5S in the phrase library. The BABARP1 consists of the continuous arpeggio with the notes C, F and octave C, allocated in zone 1. The BABAARP2 consists of 2 bars of a half step ornament, allocated in zone 4. And the BABAARP3 consists of a hole step ornament, allocated in zone 3. The stage setting BABAORIL has 4 zones. Zone 1: GrPnoConcert, with Sustain Pedal; Zone 2, 3, 4: Pulse Lead 1, without Sustain Pedal. I made some modifications of EQ and FX individually in the stage setting itself. I hope to help the forum friends as others have already helped me with great contributions. BABAARP1.ZPH BABAARP2.ZPH BABAARP3.ZPH BABAORIL.ZPF

This zip file contains the Stage Setting and the Percussion file needed to reproduce the sound in the included sample MP3. Don't forget to update the phrase location in the stage setting with whatever phrase slot you end up using for the percussion loop. Sliders 1 and 2 control the two organ layers. Pedal 1 switches between fast and slow rotary, which also switches between the C1 and C3 chorus settings. Pedal 2 toggles the percussion off and on. I heard this song on a long road trip recently and I couldn't help but think about how to replicate it on the PX-5S. For hours, I tried many different settings and tried to "brew" my own effects, but I found that layering the stock Distortion Organ patch with an octave higher worked surprisingly well! Unfortunately, we don't have a lead guitar player in the band, so I probably won't actually use this, but I enjoyed the challenge.

  8. How do you select Stage Settings from MIDI (Another keyboard or iPad Remote Control)?Bank 112, followed by a program change 0-99 will select the Stage SettingsWhen can I download the Mac/PC editor?Tentatively on or around April 19thI've tried all the velocity curves the piano is either too loud or too soft for my needsThe pianos are set by default for a very wide dynamic range (as are all Privia models). You can reduce the dynamic range yourself. Press the EDIT button, select TONE. Go to the AMP page. Find velocity and reduce it from a value of +64 to around 40. You'll have to scroll back up to the stop of the AMP page and reduce the overall volume to compensate. We will be posting variations on the piano for download later in April. What is the warranty on the PX-5SIn the US it is 1 year plus an additional 2 years when you register your purchase online. http://www.onlineregister.com/casio/registration/?category=Keyboards Can the MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller be used on the PX-5S for expression or sustainMany people have expressed interest in using this device with the PX-5S to use either as an expression pedal or to use with a continuous damper pedal such as the Roland DP-10. The MIDI Solutions product only transmits on 1 MIDI channel. This means that regardless of how you're using (expression or sustain) it can only control 1 zone of the PX-5S at a time. While we are investigating ways to provide better integration with devices such as this, this does NOT mean that anything is planned or guaranteed. If there is ever an official announcement of a firmware update you'll here it from me, here on this forum I've downloaded sounds from this forum and put them on the USB drive, but I can not load them. The files need to be placed in the MUSICDAT folder on the USB drive for the PX-5S to see them.
  9. Hey guys I have been wanting to expand my rig a bit and am having some issues. I am using a 2012 macbook pro running mac OS high sierra and using a usb cord to connect my px-5s to the macbook pro via usb 2.0 however my mac is not showing my px-5s at all. I have tried a few different things such as replacing my usb cord as it was a bit old and restarting my mac.I am also running the latest version of the px-5s firmware v1.13 I am still however having this same issue. It seems as if the two are not communicating at all. Is this a compatability issue? Am I doing something incorrectly? Would the midi in/out to usb be the way to fix this? Please help.
  10. Dear all friends I want to ask all of you that do anyone have the FM (DX) Electric Piano Presets for Casio PX-5S? Because I want to use FM tones with PX-5S in the Worship and other reticals. Thanks
  11. Hi Everyone, Been searching the docs, this forum, and the 'net. Behavior: PX-5S, Firmware 1.13 - If I power up the keyboard using the power adapter, and no batteries in the compartment, it eventually (after hours) seems to power itself off (screen dark) but will power up normally by simply pressing the power button. Background: Performed an outdoor show last weekend it was humid, and between sound check and the show, there was some drizzle, but the PX-5S was sheltered. Played a 90 minute show with no issue, packed up and went home, but since there was the outdoor exposure, I brought it inside, and left the (ATA) case open so that any humidity trapped inside the keyboard or case would dry out. The next day, I powered up and played for a few minutes, testing the keys, buttons, etc -- all working - so far, so good. I decided to leave it powered up, and to my surprise, after a number of hours (not sure excatly, but more than 2 or 3) the LCD is dark - and it appears that the keyboard powered itself off. I've repeated this 3 or 4 times, asked around the family, "Is anyone powering the Casio off?", and even put it in a room with low/no foot traffic (which also means a different a/c outlet.) It still powers off, eventually. Any ideas? Is this a "feature"? Memory leak? Should I expect the PX-5S to remain powered up as long as there is A/C power? Anyone curious enough to leave their PX-5S powered up on a/c overnight, as a test? I honestly just want to know if anything is wrong, or going wrong, because when I test it, it does seem to work properly. Many thanks, -Harris
  12. Can I download an install a PX-5X file as a starting point? or are the file types exclusive to the Privia model? McDTracy
  13. Need some help. I play the PX-5S live at church every weekend, and just recently it has started sounding random single notes. They happen at random intervals; usually about 3-4 times in a set. The best description I can give of them is that it sounds like someone is reaching over my shoulder and hitting a single note, out of key and out of time. It's VERY distracting. Here's my set up - Playing a piano stage setting with external audio out from the board itself. Have USB out to Mac laptop to control a synth in Reason. Also have a second keyboard (for Rhodes and organs) with its audio passing though the PX-5S and tied to a fader for volume control. Finally, I have a USB expression pedal going into the mac for volume and synth adjustment. Here's what I've tried for troubleshooting - * Made sure I was on latest firmware * Reset the board to factory (once) * turned off midi-in & USB-in on the px-5s I cannot figure it out. I've used this setup or something very similar for nearly two years. Is there something wrong with the board itself? -CK
  14. I won't be I using my Px for a bit of time and need to store it. Space is limited and I have it in the gig bag in the vertical position. It's slightly leaning back against some other items. The keys aren't the end leaning forward though. Is there any harm keeping it stored somewhat upright?
  15. Hello!I am David ,come from mainIand China,I edit the tones and stage settings, live play, a packet of 5 people live: two Blues harmonica, a guitar, a bass, and a drum of Congas. 18. Used my Px-5s for this Grateful Dead cover. I'm playing with a friend, who is singing lead and I'm singing harmony. I used the software, Mixcraft, for recording. Soundcloud - Friend Of The Devil cover - CornerStone Appreciate your comments.
  19. Here's perhaps a unique application of a Casio SA-76 run through an analog synthesizer. Recorded using a Casio PX-5S.
  20. On the PX-5s, can I assign the transpose function to a slider? I want to avoid the button presses normally used to transpose / change keys, to make it easier to transpose quickly on the fly (like the dedicated transpose button on the PX-560). For example, if the slider starts in the middle position, moving it up one notch would transpose + 1 half-step; or moving it down one notch would transpose -1 half-step. If the PX-5s transpose feature can be assigned to a slider, how would I do it? Thanks in advance.
  21. Hello I'd like to play the recorded intro to the Styx song "Too Much Time On My Hands" Is there a way to trigger a wav file to play the recorded sample? Thanks Mark
  22. Hello. This thread possibly involves two separate issues. There's some noise coming out of the phone outputs of my PX-5S, one that is there at a constant volume regardless of what volume is the PX-5S set to output. I think I read about this somewhere, but I couldn't find that exact issue being cited when I searched for it at the moment. Anyway, it's not super-strong, but it's quite audible and you notice it as soon as the keyboard is turned on. I don't know whether that's regarded as "normal", and as the output volume doesn't affect the noise level, I thought perhaps it's some ground noise from the AC adapter. So, I tried running the PX-5S on 8 Duracell AA batteries – it doesn't turn on! Why is that? I've put them in correctly. Is there a chance something's wrong with the wiring that should go from the battery compartment? Thanks in advance.
  23. This is an original song of mine. I used the Px-5s for "Modern Keys" and "Hello Stranger" here and panned them a bit. Stephen D'Amato Not Crystal
  24. Hello guys, I am having a very bad time with my Privia PX-5S, I bought it in December 31st, 2014, and for the first time I'm experiencing some issues regarding the volume knob, it isn't work properly, it gives the same volume when turning up or down, and there is a point where should be volume 0 where you can appreciate a noise, pretty much like the two states devices (a button) and instead of giving an especific amount of resistance it's giving just "On" and "Off". I don't know if this is new for you or it is a common situation. I live in Mexico, and the purchase was in the US, what do you recommend me? Please check the video.... help me ='( By the way this issue seems to be like a shortcut, sometimes happens and after an specific amount of time it solves by itself but in the end it happens again. Thank you in advance Tony Martinez IMG_4042.MOV
  25. Re: 5Velo Wurly (Hex Layer) Mike said (when he posted a version for a different Casio keyboard): <<<<As originally appeared on the PX-5S and also found built-in to the PX-560, here's my 5 layer velocity switched Wurlitzer.>>>> I can't find it anywhere in my PX-5s, even tho' Mike says it was originally on the PX. I'd like to load it in. Wondering WHERE I can download it.....I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
