  1. I remember the first time that I got my G1 and listen to its sound it I knew there is more to it then what it initially showed. After months of practice and playing and off course reading this forum for technical advise and idea's, The G1 slowely opened up for what I want. Now I can practically program it for any kind of genre and the beauty is I have the solo synth as the base to every function inside the G1. I mean the mixing , dsp etc all comes nicely together. I love programming performances mix tones and apply step sequences. I can make the G1 sound hard and ruff or nice smooth and easy. Its never finish I have tons of idea's to explore to squeeze out of the XW. I've made a performance patch using a solo synth tone to mix other tones and apply dsp effects to them together and then applied to individual tones chorus and reverb I knew the XW would mix the total effects by itself as long if every tone is fine tuned to match each other perfectly its not perfected yet but Ill dump the patches here later before I ruin them. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/smooth-xw-expirience Smooth XW expirience.MP3
  2. For the last 2 weeks, I switched from working on my EDM music to working on my R&B/Blues music with my Casio XW-G1. I composed and recorded a more Blues version of a R&B song of mine I recording in 2010. All music is from the XW-G1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c6dCFFw3zU

EDM Live Jam FX with Performance Multi-function Keys Performance Name: LIVE JAM FX This performance uses multi-function keys to change the tone/patch being played in Zone1/Part 1 from C- to C6. The multi-function keys section is from C#6 to C7. The black key multi-function keys are control keys that turn DSP effects on/off for Zone1/Part 1, change the tone to play on Zone1, and change the DSP effect being used. The white multi-function keys section quickly sets the DSP effect to a preset effect. 6. I got an XW-G1, a demo unit from a Guitar Center store. As soon as I powered it up, I did a factory reset. Then I upgraded to firmware 1.11. After doing these things, I noticed that some of the built-in performances have step sequences, but those sequences are not playing when triggered by the keys (at the upper end of the keyboard). I think that when I did the factory reset, I deleted step sequence data in the keyboard. Is that correct? Or did I miss something else here?
  7. This is the latest configration and arragement for EDM live performances I am trying out: XW-G1, Kaossilator Pro, & Kaoss Pad. I really like it.

  11. Version 1.11 is the latest firmware for the XW-P1 and XW-G1. The update process requires your computer. The firmware and instructions are located here: http://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=20 Here are some things to remember. Do not interrupt the firmware update in any way. Powering off the XW during the process will damage it permanently. If you are worried about the power going out, putting batteries in your XW is a good precaution. Disable any virus protection, this can interfere with the Updater Do not run other applications on your computer while doing the update. Launch the Update tool BEFORE and put your XW in Update mode BEFORE connecting the XW to the computer If the update seems to stop during the process DO NOT power off the XW. Please wait at least 10 minutes before doing the following Do not touch the XW Close the Updater application on your computer Disconnect the USB cable Restart the Updater Application. Reconnect the XW keyboard to the computer The Updater should resume. When complete your XW will restart automatically
  12. If you're on a Mac computer and want to update your XW to the latest firmware, please take note. Apple's GateKeeper security will claim the the firmware updater file is corrupt. You have to disable this feature before downloading the file from the Casio website. After you've done the firmware update you can return the Gatekeeper back to it's default setting. For more information on Gatekeeper, please see this article. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5290

  14. I have had my XW-G1 for 2 weeks now. I have figured out how to do everything for my EDM electronic dance music performances to replace my Kaossilator Pro and microSAMPLER. If I can figure out how to do vocals with a vocoder robot voice I can replace my Kaoss Pad. I have not had a chance to check this post out on this forum yet but it sounds like the XW-G1 has the ability to do a robot voice: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4483-tlkbxrobot/ Here is my EDM live jam video with the XW-G1 sampling:

  17. I fiddled long enough with the G1 now I'm more acquainted with it mind you I'm not a professional musician although with more practice and the piano lesson I'm taking for several months it's getting there so here is one of my many creations its not a well put together performance patch but after a few try's something like this came out. 18. Day motion version 2 performance mode patch in the work. By accident I learned solo synth can be played by the step sequencer also one draw back is if the tone changes it also changes how the step sequence sounds but the step sequence standard stores the solosynth selected. I was happy very happy cause the step seqeunce controls did something awesome to it got a bit messy when I tried to much so I saved two version on the G1 to rethink stuff here are two demo's of the performance patch a work in progres from here on I'll just list the patches here and demo's on soundcloud. Left hand soft string + sweep synth middle C - Seashore which been used with arp to slap in sync with drum. Right hand Hirezmotion vox solosynth. electronic Daymotion v2.1.MP3 Electronic Daymotion v2.MP3

This is a Cakewalk Sonar Instrument Definition File for the Casio XW-G1. It will allow you to access all of the sounds on the XW-G1 from inside of Sonar, Cakewalk, Reaper, or any other program that uses the .INS instrument definition file format. In this revision I corrected the name of the GM Harp sound (P180, Program 46, Bank 0). This file was based on Mike Martin's Casio XW-P1 V 0.5 Instrument Definition File.

  23. I played wight eh G1 at the store using my headphones and noticed a slight change in tone when loop-recording one of the built in pad sounds. The sound was nice and wide, but after recording it in the looper, it became very narrow, as though it switched into a mono mode. Is the looper mono only? I can't find an answer in the user manual.
  24. I can't get my XW-G1 to accept the firmware update 1.10. On the PC, I get the Not Connected message. On the Mac, I get a message telling me to hook the keyboard to the PC and hit OK. I don't have any problems with the Data Editor. It sees the XW-G1 and works perfect.

This is simply just a performance which lets you control each zone volume control with each knob. I Didn't Put alot of effort into the sound as you can easily change it to your needs. Enjoy.
