  1. I have always used an SC-88 through a MIDI interface as a MIDI sound module sourced by my laptop’s software sequencer. . I now wish to simplify and scrap the SC-88 and use the keyboard for both a MIDI sound module as well as for live performance. Can the MIDI volume be adjusted separately from the keyboard volume control? In a live performance this must be done quickly at times. I could use the volume adjustment in the laptop's sequencer, but that takes too long. With the SC-88 I could be on the knob in less than a second. Please be gear specific if recommending any additional gear. Thanks!
  2. Can someone please help me with setting up an external keyboard midi controller? I would like to use the PX5S keyboard with one stage setting, and at the same time use an external keyboard to drive a second stage setting on the PX5S. For example, play Concert Grand on the PX5S keyboard and have a midi controller play the PX5S FastStrings stage setting. I also want to use ForScore to send the two stage settings to the PX5S via midi. What are the basic steps to make this happen? I know how to send a single stage setting from ForScore to the PX5S keyboard, but not how to use the external keyboard or to control its stage setting. Keith
  3. I really enjoy using the built-in sounds on my PX-S3000, but there are times when I want to use it as a MIDI controller too. I'd like to have the flexibility to play only built-in sounds, only external sounds (VSTs), or a combination of the two. I thought about maybe saving some registrations with different MIDI setups so I can quickly change. Are the MIDI settings on the keyboard global or can different MIDI setups be saved with each registration? Also, is there any way to turn off MIDI out on the keyboard? Thanks.
  4. Here is a screen recording from my iOS app, Verti-Chord Pro v7.7.7 (beta), which transforms a Casio PX-5S to emulate the FULL functionality of a pedal steel guitar (i.e., full portamento). Guitarists, notice that the left hand is not playing piano chords. It is ‘fretting’ guitar barre chords. Also notice that the right hand is not playing piano notes. It is ‘plucking’ fretted guitar strings. Enjoy. Feedback welcome. GARY
  5. Hello my friends! I have a Privia PX160 and two days ago I bought an XW-P1 to complement my setup. The question is: can I connect both via USB cable or do I need an interface like this https://kentonuk.com/product/midi-usb-host-mkii/ ?\ Thank you in advance for your attention.
  6. Is it possible to change instruments on a midi file played from a flash drive? I love to listen to player piano rolls converted to midi and think they would sound great with a Honky Tonk piano instrument.
  7. Hello all, I've created an account and posted here after spending the last 6 hours searching Google and Microsoft with no success. I have a Casio CDP-220R and I was finally able to move it into my office where my Windows 10 PC is. I know in the past I briefly had it connected to a laptop running Windows XP (and possibly one running Windows 7) but for the life of me I can't get Windows 10 to recognize it. The error I'm getting is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)", code 43. According to everything I've read, my Casio is GM Level 1 class compliant, so there are no drivers to download for it and it should just work. I've seen some discussions regarding USB 2.0 vs. 3.0 ports but I believe I only have 3.0 ports on my computer (at least my Device Manager only reports USB 3.0 hub controllers in the list). Everyone who posts this issue to Microsoft is told to reinstall or update the drivers (which of course does nothing because there are no drivers) or contact the manufacturer for updated drivers (which of course means nothing because class-compliant devices don't have any drivers at all). I have tried every USB port on my computer, tried different cables, no dice. I was wondering if anyone out there has had this problem with Windows 10 and knows of a workaround or solution? Thank you so much for your time, Clayton
  8. Hi, i have a Casio ctk 591 that i have since around 2007 when i was a kid. in the last years i haven't used it at all, but i wanted to start using it again but as a midi controller, so i bought a cheap usb to midi cable, the program i use recognizes the usbmidi cable and i can play some notes ok, but some other keys play a sustained high pitched note, for example: i play a key in the second octave and the program says its playing the key on the 11th octave. Now my question is what its the problem, i dont know if the midi cable its just bad or if there is somethign with the keyboard, maybe some configuration or some driver. Thanks.
  9. Is there a way to save PX-560 MIDI settings? I hate hi-res MIDI always ON
  10. Hi folks, I have invested in a PS-X3000 and am really enjoying the sounds and the playing experience. Now I want to integrate this instrument into a live setup with other midi hardware and soft-synths, so I really need remote selection of sounds via standard MIDI (i.e.using Bank Select and Program Change messages). Basically I want to play the keyboard in 'local' mode where the instrument keyboard plays the onboard sounds, AND I want to select those onboard sounds by receiving midi messages from my midi patch manager (mididings, Bitwig or similar) running on my MAC (over USB Midi). When I try this the main 'local' voice and the display don't change, however the program change IS effective for incoming midi notes, so I know the messages are getting through. So I can send PC and MIDI notes to the sound engine, but I can't alter the local setting via MIDI?? This doesn't seem right - I must be missing something! BTW It'd be really helpful to see some high-level description of the instruments MIDI architecture and how this relates to the onboard sound engine. I'm sure it exists somewhere?
  11. I recently found out about the feature on the sd card , so i decreased the size of my 16gb sd card into 1gb and i get this error "card r/w" when formating it in the piano. What does it mean? and how do i fix that?
  12. Hi! I have a problem because I have created a MIDI performance and I want to move it to my CTK-6200 Keyboard, but I dont want to move it to the SD card, I want to move it into the Keyboard memory, but the Keyboard only accepts CMS files. The Casio software SMF convertor only can convert to CM2 files so it does not function in my case. Is it some tool or It is some way to convert that midi file to CMS?.The software that I used to create the MIDI performance allowed me to make the song compatible with my Keyboard Instruments. The problem is that I need it in CMS.
  13. Hi guys! I enjoy with my new CT-X5000 and really love the gear. Now trying to make it work with the PC (I use Sonar Home Studio). Everything is great, and I even attached my Novation Launchkey MINI MIDI controller's knobs to edit CT-X5000 sounds on the fly (filter, vibrato, EG, portamento etc). But there is a problem. The manual indicates, that sounds, controlled by external MIDI source, use their own separate block of effects (Reverb/Chorus/Delay) - a so called System Effects 2. So I can only change depth of these effects (CC#91,#93, #94), but I can't change effects' type. When I enter into a [SET] menu on the CT-X5000, it changes only System Effects 1 (used for keyboard/style playing, but not for external MIDI). Any ideas how to reach System Effects 2 block and switch there Rev/Cho/Delay type for external MIDI? System Exclusives? NRPNs? Thanks in advance.
  14. This is my second question for the day so please bear with me. I will give a break down of how I went about layering different midi recordings. 1. Tone: Grand piano, I made a recording for about 30 seconds. 2. Once I was done with the 'first recording' I pressed the record button again but this time I chose a different 'system track'. (Tone being drums now) I pressed onto the play button and the piano piece I recorded started to play and along this I started adding some beats. 3. I stopped and listened to the recording, the piano was playing along with the beats. And I found this to be great. The issue that I found out was that, when I transferred the 'midi recording (with the beats)' onto my pen-drive and tried to use it on my FL studio. The keys played for the beats were coming up as piano keys and the piano piece that I 'first (initially)' recorded doesn't even play. So I'm quite confused as to what I should do in order to layer piano keys and beats (basically different tones) and make it sound the same when I transfer it as a file. Please help me out. Thanks :))
  15. Hi ! After I've made my recording on midi, and when I save (or transfer) it to my pen-drive , it gets saved as ".ZMF" Due to this, I cannot import this recorded midi file into the software I use as it requires a ".MID" and several other types which do not include the ".ZMF" Please provide assistance on how to overcome this issue Thank you :)) FIRST.ZMF
  16. I have a CTK-3500, and am trying to send MIDI files to it. I called basic support, and they said they would have to get special software for it, but couldn't help me with recommendations for software. Does anyone know of MIDI file transfer software preferably compatible with Ubuntu 18.04, if not Windows 7? Thanks!
  17. Hello, Been using my Px-560M for about 3 years,, most things i like, here's my questions your help is always appreciated 1. I am using Musicsheets on android tablet with usb cable to keyboard usb midi port. i can change Upper 1, Upper 2, Lower 1, Lower 2 instruments (programs) on channel A what i dont understand is how to pick a specific registration such as bank 4 , button 3 or as i call it 4-3..... what channels, settings, codes are needed to send this to set the keyboard? 1a. codes to turn on an instrument ie,, upper 1 is automaticaly on,, uppper 2 is not,, how to turn on upper 2 by midi command. 1b. any easier to read docs on midi,, seems confusing, no examples,, 2. When i make system changes using the system menu, such as Midi volume, or on the Midi menu,, such as port A,, and turn off keyboard i loose all settings is this normal,, how can i save my system settings? that's it for now,, not bad for first support request in over 3 years! mike
  18. Hi. As the new owner of a Px560 (coming from a Yamaha MOX8 I want to use an Organ simulator on my iPad controlled via the 560. Iwant to be able to control the volume of the iPad and , for example, turn the piano volume to zero on the Privia whilst I assign a control knob to turn up the iPad organ whilst I use it.i thought it was a simple matter of assigning one of the control knobs to MIDI volume but it doesn’t seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could do this? It seems so simple in principle but I just can’t seem to nail it! Any help appreciated. (I connect via a Korg key to the iPad rig). Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi, this is my first enquiry on the Casio board. I am considering buying a PX560M but I need it to do the following via MIDI. I play bass pedals and I'd like to be able to trigger the onboard bass sounds on the 560 via MIDI-In (probably on a different MIDI Channel Number) while playing other sounds on the keyboard itself. Is this possible ? At present I use a separate 'old' Boss sound module for the Acoustic Bass and i would like to reduce my set-up times and the wiring nightmare by just plugging the pedals into the 560 and getting access to more bass sounds. Thanks in advance.
  20. I've been going in circles for months trying to get reaper to send MIDI bank/program changes to my xwp1. Anyone successfully had theirs receive changes while in performance mode? I could use some help.
  21. Hi all - I dig my PX 560 and enjoy lurking around this forum. I've got a Yamaha Motif Rack MIDI'd to my PX-560, but every time I change presets on the PX, it also arbitrarily changes presets on the Yamaha. Anyone know how to bypass those midi commands? Thanks! Phil
  22. I could swear I remember there is a way to play all the MIDI files on an SD Card sequentially but don't recall how? Maybe I'm thinking of a different keyboard? Anyone know? I know you can press the PLAY/STOP & PART/SELECT BUTTONS together for a playback of a sequence of demos** I thought there was also a way to get that to happen with the midi contents of the external SD Card? TIA
  23. When I save a multi-track MIDI recording as SMF, it doesn't seem to included the system track & rhythm accomp. when I load the file into MusicEditor 3.1 on my Windows 10 laptop. Tracks 1-16 show up fine. I suspect the system track is 17 and therefore not recognized. Is there a way to either move the system track or otherwise have it show up in a MIDI editor?
  24. Hey guys I have been wanting to expand my rig a bit and am having some issues. I am using a 2012 macbook pro running mac OS high sierra and using a usb cord to connect my px-5s to the macbook pro via usb 2.0 however my mac is not showing my px-5s at all. I have tried a few different things such as replacing my usb cord as it was a bit old and restarting my mac.I am also running the latest version of the px-5s firmware v1.13 I am still however having this same issue. It seems as if the two are not communicating at all. Is this a compatability issue? Am I doing something incorrectly? Would the midi in/out to usb be the way to fix this? Please help.
  25. So I use a Roland pk-5a as a midi pedal board with my Px5s. Is there anyway to trigger phrases with the pedal board? I know the pk-5a is a little outdated and of course its Roland so I'm not sure if that limits my capabilities. I do use it to play low tones to fill in the low end when switching from bass guitar to keys, so the pedals definitely communicate with the keyboard.. However you can only play one zone through the pedals which kind of bums me out. Anyways I haven't found a way to trigger phrases through the pedals yet so I'm hoping this is possible. Really wish Casio made some sort of version of Taurus pedals that could play all 4 zones.. That would be amazing lol
