  1. Hello keyboarders. I recently bought a keyboard CASIO CTK-6250. I'm fascinated with keyboard on rock and blues music, and one of my great inspirations is Billy Preston. I would love to sound like him and like other organ players, specifically the Hammond B3 ones. How can I do this in my CTK-6250? Is there some place when I can download a tone that simulates this type of organ? I searched for this and didn't find anything... If it's not possible, how can I create this effect? Thanks in advance, Thiago.

4 Organ Registrations with rotary speaker settings optimized and knobs preset for rotary control. Presets 1 & 2 are based on the JS Organ tone. #2 has the chorus/vibrato removed. Preset #3 is a Full Drawbar tone Preset #4 is a variant on the click organ tone. My recommended rotary settings Generally speaking I'm setting Ramp up/down times around 40-45 Slow speed is also around 40-45 Fast speed 112-119 Overdrive and chorus to your personal taste.
  3. I'm wondering if anyone has figured out how to dis engage the mod wheel on the piano sounds? I actually sent back the first 560 I bought because when I was on the phone with Casio they didn't even know why this was happening and told me to exchange it! As I was waiting for my new one to arrive it occurred to me that maybe i=t was the mod wheel but why would that ne enable on the piano sound? Makes no sense and the vibrato doesn't really turn off the whole way even if you have it down. Any suggestions?

This zip file contains the Stage Setting and the Percussion file needed to reproduce the sound in the included sample MP3. Don't forget to update the phrase location in the stage setting with whatever phrase slot you end up using for the percussion loop. Sliders 1 and 2 control the two organ layers. Pedal 1 switches between fast and slow rotary, which also switches between the C1 and C3 chorus settings. Pedal 2 toggles the percussion off and on. I heard this song on a long road trip recently and I couldn't help but think about how to replicate it on the PX-5S. For hours, I tried many different settings and tried to "brew" my own effects, but I found that layering the stock Distortion Organ patch with an octave higher worked surprisingly well! Unfortunately, we don't have a lead guitar player in the band, so I probably won't actually use this, but I enjoyed the challenge.

Or I'm missing something completely obvious, which isn't unlikely, either. Edit 2: I almost forgot to mention the controls! Sliders 1 and 2 control the two organ layers. This is my attempt at customizing a Hex-Layer organ tone layered with a Wurly. I've assign some pseudo drawbars to Knobs 1 & 3 & overdrive to Knob 2, the Modulation Wheel works as Leslie Slow/Fast and the Expression Pedal as Volume/Swell for the Organ not affecting the Wurly. Dowload the 2 files, one is the hex-layer organ which needs to be loaded in the hex-layer user slot and the other is the registration for the respective tone. Once you saved the organ tone in the keyboard load the registration and place the Organbar tone in the first Upper 1 zone and than save again the registration. Knob 1 - Volume for 2 Drawbars (midrange) Knob 2 - Overdrive for the Organ (be careful with the amount) Knob 3 - Volume for 2 Drawbars (high range) Modulation Wheel - Controlse the Speed & Fast Rate of the Leslie Speaker (try all the values of the wheel casue it increases exponentially) Expression Pedal - Controls the Volume/Sweel of the Organ Pressing the Split button you'll have immediate access to a bass sound. Also I've assign a preset Rhythm with which you can jam. Hope you like it and you'll have a good use of it for your live performances! Here is the video demo fo the sound:
  9. I am wanting to toggle the ‘Modulation Assignable’ button to activate the ‘Leslie rotary speaker effect’ that would GRADUALLY spin it up to ‘full speed rotate’....then remain there until I press it again to make it gradually slow down to a full stop again. Or—start fast, then slow down, then speed up. Etc etc. In other words, ‘press the button to gradually increase rotation...then press it SECOND time to decrease rotation speed. I can only make the rotary effect OFF.....or ON (‘off’ seems to be the normal effect of most factory sounds except the ‘072 RtfFdOrg’). There seems to be no way to gradually increase/decrease rotation speed. It’s either fast—or off. ’Drive Rotary’ sets the button so the rotary effect is OFF when pressed. None of the following function settings have any effect: OD gain OD level Speed Brake FallAccel RiseAccel SlowRate FastRate Etc etc etc Help? What am I missing?
  10. My apologies for such a rudimentary question, but I am looking to pick up a used Casio keyboard that is a) touch sensitive for piano, and b) has a wide variety of organ tones. I'm trying to stay under $200 for a used keyboard, but I could go higher. My question is which Casio keyboard(s) is best for my purposes? I've seen many WK-200s out there, and it seems like a good one for me, but I'm not sure how it compares to other models given my criteria. I don't want an instrument for beginners, but also don't want to spend a ton at this time. Thanks.

Here's my first upload effort -- a rock organ's lower manual. I have a nice synth which nicely models single-manual clonewheel, which I play in a stack above my new PX-5S. The PX can't match that for organ, but I figured I would take a stab at at least providing a backup (lower) manual functionality. The initial (scrapped for now) trick was going to be to put the first three drawbars on the first slider, since so many registrations build from 888 00 0000. Then I was going to mix a couple of higher footages -- 1-3/5' and 1-1/3' -- on the 5th slider. Getting the 16', 5-1/3', and 8' pitches to be operated by one slider is proving to be a challenge, due to limitations in the PX-5S synth architecture. I'll work on that one again another day... It occurred to me though that Hammond spinets don't even use 16' and 5-1/3' bars on the lower manual, and that I have an extra octave of keys at the bottom anyway, so part way through the exercise I ditched the two lower drawbars. So for now I offer a fader-to-drawbar mapping of 8' 4' 2-2/3' 2' 1-3/5' plus 1-13' mixture 1' (because lots of organists like that whistle to be separate from the others) Initially, the mixture played too many major chords when I played LH bass, so I used the wonderful per-hexlayer key mapping to get the 1-3/5' sound to disappear about 1 octave below middle C, and to get the quint stops and 1' to play a little more quietly. This allows some nice bright RH comping and non-dissonant LH bass. This "lower manual" uses neither percussion nor C/V, but it does use Overdrive rotary. The Mod wheel is mapped to overdrive level. Pedal 2 is toggles fast/slow rotating speaker. There is an editable, but non-modifiable, key click.

  13. Okay, third try -- the stage setting, originally attached to this post, is now correctly linked to http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/1168-drawbars-8-1zpf/ Lessee if I did it right this time.

I am trying to recreate the original 1960's Hammond Organ sound as used by Procol Harum on A whiter Shade of Pale. I have been trying various settings and parameters but I just can't get it right. Any help or advice will be most appreciated. PX-560

Built my own custom Organ Hex Layer Tone using all 6 Hex Layers. Basically combined several Organ Tones (plus a Voice) and edited the pitch and filter sections heavily. This is my own sound, not trying to be another sound, just a decent cool organ for pads mostly. This is a tone, so can create Stage setting with other 3 zones to add strings, piano or anything else. https://soundcloud.com/baymond-rell/bays-organ-custom-privia-pro-px-5s-tone-patch

  20. GREEN ONIONS View File This stage setting is a try to reproduce that Booker T sound used in the famous Green Onions track. I have tuned a bit an old 6 drawbar stage setting uploaded on this forum few times ago. I changed the amp section, some parameters for the overdrive and volume layer. Hope you enjoy it! Stage setting is based on 4 zone: - Z1 and Z2 : HexLayer organ tone - Z3 : another organ tone to improve depth sound - Z4: click organ tone Controls: - Slider 1-6 : drawbar setting - Knob 1 : overdrive gain/level - Knob 2 : reverb - Knob 3 : Low EQ - Knob 4 : High EQ - Modulation Wheel : increase gain for another kind of overdrive, target is Z2 Submitter athomyk Submitted 04/12/2017 Category Organs

  22. I have a Privia PX-3. The organ sounds that come with the PX-3 don't have a strong enough Leslie effect for me, so I want to use a rotary pedal (e.g., Lester K, Ventilator II, etc.) with the keyboard. I know how to connect and use a typical rotary pedal. However, I can't figure out how to edit the sounds on the PX-3 to remove as much of their built-in rotary effect as possible. Otherwise, a rotary pedal creates excessive Leslie effects by layering its Leslie sound on top of the patch's built-in Leslie sound. Is there a way to remove the Leslie effect on the organ patches in the PX-3? Or is there a way to build a Hammond-type patch from scratch on the PX-3? Thanks very much.

This is a Stage Setting I created to use the PX-5S as a lower manual for my Crumar Mojo61. It is silent so that I don't have to turn down the volume on the PX-5S. Sliders 1-6 are the first six drawbars, Knobs 1-3 are the last three (usually don't use these on the lower manual of a Hammond anyway). Knob 4 is C/V selection, and Modulation controls Run/Stop on the rotary effect (because that's how I roll. It can easily be changed to Slow/Fast). I found I had to set the range of the output to 126-128 to split the switch between the two states evenly on the wheel.

This is my Stage setting for PX-5S, designed to control the Galileo organ app. I have mapped it in the following way, so that the PX will control the following things in Galileo: Slider 1: Upper drawbar 16' Slider 2: Upper drawbar 51/3' Slider 3: Upper drawbar 8' Slider 4: Upper drawbar 4' Slider 5: Upper drawbar 22/3' Slider 6: Upper drawbar 2' Knob 1: Upper drawbar 13/5' Knob 2: Upper drawbar 11/3' Knob 3: Upper drawbar 1' Knob 4: Vibrato on/off Pitch bend wheel: Pitch bend Mod wheel: master volume. I have set this for a range from 50 - 100 (I anticipate using it at about 50 but it is early days yet. Be sure to adjust it if necessary to how you want it.) Pedal 1: Rotary fast/slow Pedal; 2: Rotary brake This is my first venture into the realm of midi, and also my first attempt to properly map organ controls. Please let me know if I need to make any changes - especially if I have left out something important. I hope to end up with the definitive Galileo controller at some point......... I also hope it may be of some use to you.
