  1. https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=vpPXYKy-lCo You might enjoy this......mixing the old and the new. Remember that despite all its programming capabilities, there is no better way to feature the PX-5S is to play it live. The instrument stands on its own as one of the best for live performance and many of the programming and subtle change capabilities are already done for you out of the box. More coming. Tom Piggott
  2. I just got a PX-5S a day ago. I haven't hooked it up to my computer yet, but I was thinking that I'd like to build a stage setting for harpsichord, to expand upon the 2-3 built-in patches for harpsichord sounds that exist. Harpsichords normally have up to four ranks of strings: 16', 8', 8', 4'. Much like organ stops, that means 8' is at exact pitch, 16' an octave lower, 4' an octave higher. Usually, 16' and 8' are playable separately or coupled on one manual, and then 8' and 4' are playable separately or coupled on the other manual. Optionally, manuals can be coupled together, making it possible to double the 8', combine 16' and 4', or any other combination. (Though it's physically hard to play when all four ranks of strings are engaged.) In addition, some harpsichords offer a lute stop, which dampens the strings, resulting in a more lute / guitar-like sound. Others have a "nasale" stop, which imparts a more nasal tone (not sure how this works, as I haven't seen an acoustic harpsichord with these). So then I got to thinking: what can hex layers do with this? I was thinking that mapping the 6 sliders could control volume levels of the following: 16' (harpsichord patch played an octave down) 8' (manual 1) 8' (manual 2) 4' (harpsichord patch played an octave up) 8' lute (tweak harpsichord patch envelope/settings for more guitar-like sound) 8' nasale (tweak harpsichord patch envelope/settings for nasal tone) And then it would be possible to "couple" these by adjusting relative levels of the sliders, resulting in more flexibility than a real harpsichord. Since I'm new to this keyboard, maybe this reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of how it works ... but is something like this do-able?
  3. Hi all, I recently got a px-5s (Holy crap what an amazing instrument, but I'll save my praising of for somewhere else. Now back to the question), and I want to hook up my xw and my ipad to them. I have connected the ipad alreadythru both the usd and midi ports and the audio in I'm sure its the same for the xw. My question is how do I make them a part of a stage setting? For example, I would like to put the sound of the audio in in zone 3 (or any for that matter). Also can I make the audio of the stereo ins and the 1/8 in two different zones? Right now it plays throug what ever zone I'm on as long as its on. And finally, would it be possible to call up a stage setting (that I set up) that will change the tone on the xw? Thanks

  5. Hey guys I have a question. Does the Casio Privia pro px5s have any way to create and play drum loops? I am asking this because our band does not have a drummer and i would like to get a keyboard that could play drum loops for some of the songs we do. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Version 1.10 or higher firmware is required. These are the Stage Settings will be included in v1.10. These are strictly here for backup purposes. Should you happen to delete or replace a Stage Setting this will allow you to get any of them back.

  9. Is their a way to assign tone settings to a control knob or fader or am I missing something? For instance I want to be able to control the LFO amp rate so I can use it for a synth lead. Also how do you change the name of a bank like autoclav 1 how would I edit that, (and i am not talking about renaming the tone) without using the computer data editor. Thanks for any help you can give! Cheers!

Another Rhodes sound for the PX-5S. Audio demo coming soon. Stage Setting (ZPF) and a HexLayer (ZLT) are located here so you can easily import the tone into another Stage Setting. Controls: Slider 1-3 Phaser Slider 4-6: Chorus / Delay / Reverb Knobs 1-4: EQ
  15. I spent a good bit of time with the folks at Finale trying to figure out why my PX-5S wasn't able to input midi information in Finale 2010. They finally said that it was because my keyboard uses high resolution midi velocity. And they suggested there may be 3rd party ways of filtering the midi flow and getting my keyboard to work. I just found an easier (for me) solution. I unplugged the USB cable and created an Audio Midi Setup using midi out from my PX-5S only. Now Finale is happy.
