  1. Great song from 1984 that has a catchy beat similar to MJ's Beat It. Recorded entirely with PX560 (no DAW) having 11 tracks consisting of: Disco Pop rhythmn Synthbass4 OverdriveGt1 Voice Doo VA SynseqBs1 Oct Strings Saw Lead1 Synslide Velo Pluck Lead Stereo brass New Age Misled.mp3
  2. Here is my cover (by ear) of the original Lost in Space Theme from 1968 by John Williams (long before his Star Wars and Jurassic Park fame). The piano tone and MIDi input is from the PX560. The remainder of patches are virtual instruments. Recorded from PX560 into Reaper and using sound effects from https://freesound.org/ . I also found some sound clips of the awesome B9 robot. As a kid, I was a fan of the show, despite it's cheesy-ness at times. Plus, I had a huge crush on Penny (i.e. Angela Cartwright) 😍 . Lost in Space 1968.mp3
  3. My simplified cover (by ear) of Twilight by the Electric Light Orchestra circa 1981. I recorded this from my PX560 into Reaper DAW. I used my headset mic and the free program TAL Vocoder for the prologue. 5 midi tracks consisting of: Grand Concert Piano Hex Pipe Organ Stereo Strings 1 Wide Strings Choir Aahs ELO_Twilight_PX560.mp3
  4. I'm using a old Surface 3 Windows (10) to display PDF sheet music and use 2 of the pedals on the SP-33 pedal unit to page up & down as I'm playing. I'm using free program called MidiKey2Key https://midikey2key.de/download.php to receive CC midi info from the PX560 and turn those into PC commands. In my case, page up (sustenuto), page down (una corda), and full screen (note C9). I didn't want to buy the expensive PageFlip Butterfly unit, nor did I want extra clutter at my feet. This solution works very well. https://youtu.be/CcyU8aUKBWU
  5. Here's a cool piano piece from Italian composer Einaudi from 2009. Sounds harder than it is, but the ending took me MUCH time to master. I find the Grand Concert Piano on the PX560 still hard to beat versus virtual pianos (I have Keyscape). To me, VSTi's are either too thin or too muddy and lack the crystal clarity of the PX560. I recorded this in Reaper DAW (see attached screenshot) using PX560 for midi input. The piano is Casio PX560, the other instrument tracks are virtual. Nightbook.mp3
  6. Here are some fun variations on "Happy Birthday" 🎂 from The Joy of Piano Entertainment songbook (highly recommend) by Denes Agay. Being that I'm a "senior", I'm now partial to the versions in a minor key (e.g. Chopin) 😁. All played on PX560 with Grand Concert Piano tone. BD Strauss.mp3 BD Chopin.mp3 BD Debussy.mp3 BD Gershwin.mp3 BD Liszt.mp3 BD Mozart.mp3 BD Sousa.mp3 BD Boogie.mp3
  7. Shaker traditional from 1848. Thought it would be appropriate for upcoming Thanksgiving Holidays. Be sure to check out Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring which uses variations of this song if you never have . (8) midi tracks consisting of: Grand concert piano Flute1 French Horn section Strings 1 Strings 3 Wide Strings Drums Celesta Simple Gifts_PX560.mp3
  8. I'm not a B-52 fan, but this instrumental from 1989 is awesome. Sounds like a cool cowboy western theme. All sounds (including guitar) are from PX560 except the female voice "aahs" which is Omnisphere. I added tremolo and reverb effects to PX560 (Cho.CleanGt1) guitar in Reaper. Follow Your Bliss.mp3
  9. This is my cover of a 2014 cover of Moby's original piece from 2000, Ha. Completely by ear. All sounds are from the PX560 except the female "singing" which is Omnisphere. The stock grand concert piano on the PX560 really shines on this one with lots of reverb and delay. Porcelain.mp3
  10. This is an obscure hit from 1967. Very interesting and dissonate Lydian scale mode used (supposedly by accident, albeit a happy one from the composer, Michael Brown). All the instruments are from the PX560 except the male "singing" voice which is from Omnisphere VST. Sure wish Casio would make a pro-level, 88 key version of the CT-S1000V! Until then, I'm forced to "enhance & modernize" my PX560 sounds with a DAW and VST. Pretty Ballerina.mp3
  11. I have honestly never watched a Dr. Who episode. I can't get past the trashcan looking robots and the cheesy sets, Ha. However, I do like the ethereal theme music. I found a good piano score from Musicnotes.com. I used the Casio PX560 merely as a midi controller for this one (keys & pitchwheel inputs) using Reaper DAW along with Omnisphere 2 synth voices (newbie to both programs). Pretty impressive sounds on the original 1963 version without traditional instruments and lots of adhesive tape. I've attached the very interesting "making of" video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsRuhCflRyg Dr Who.mp3
  12. This is classic elevator music from 1967. Showed up in my Spotify "recommended" set list that I initially hated, but it grew on me. WARNING: Happy tune that gets into your brain, Ha. Bought the sheet music and it is VERY fun to play. (5) midi tracks consisting of: Guitar 8Beat rhythm on system track Modern Piano Breathy TSax Stereo Strings 1 Finger Bass 1 Check out the killer Andy Williams version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7iXpTJk15s&list=RDE7iXpTJk15s&start_radio=1 Music to Watch Girls By.mp3
  13. My cover of a big hit from 1992. Gabriel is known for his crazy music videos and this one is no exception with weird/early CGI tech that's worth a look. Took much time (but fun) layering all the sounds, especially the funky clavichord track. I used several arpeggiators creating the backing track. 10 midi tracks consisting of: Electropop & Electrohop rhythms on system track Synth Bass 2 Clavi 1 Steam voice (custom hex tone consisting of 80s Syn-str, 80s SynBrs1, Sqr PulseLd1, Vox Lead 1) Drawbar Org 1 Stereo brass Charang Pulse lead 2 StrEnsemble 2 Pluck lead Steam.mp3
  14. After much searching, I came across a very nice piano score for this piece: https://www.noviscore.com/piano-sheet-music-the-winner-takes-it-all-abba I initially was interested getting the score from an elegant lady who plays a gorgeous rendition on YouTube. However, her score is in Gb........Really? A half step up or down would make it vastly easier to read. The score I'm playing is in F and level 2. One take recording using Grand Concert Piano (Upper 1) and Warm Pad (Upper 2 with pedal off). The Winner Takes it All.mp3
  15. I love George, but his chord choices and rhythms are really tough to master. Here are two simplified piano arrangements of "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Summertime" on the PX560. Rhapsody in Blue.mp3 Summertime.mp3
  16. This is an obscure "B side" instrumental from the band Electronic in 1991. Electronic was a kind of techno super group consisting of members from The Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths, and Kraftwerk. This one is completely by ear. I maxed out the PX560's polyphony and memory using 16 midi tracks, several of which have multi-layered custom hex sounds without any notes dropping. This song makes me want to ride my bicycle real fast and "lean to the inside" Ha. Lean to the Inside.mp3
  17. Decided to tackle another jazz standard which isn't my forte. Keep in mind, I'm a "just play the right notes" type of jazz enthusiast, Ha. This piece is particularly dissonant, but in a real cool way. One midi track using the Grand Concert Piano. Sheet music from Great Jazz Standards arranged by Bill Boyd. A Night in Tunisia.mp3
  18. I'm not a James Bond movie fan, but I do generally like the theme songs. This one is my favorite. The original sung by Gladys Knight is AMAZING. I wish I could get that much soul and power out of my piano solo version, Ha. One track with the stock grand concert piano tone. It's fun to play those big opening chords down in the beefy F1-F2 range. License to Kill.mp3
  19. I happened upon a wonderful solo piano interpretation of this piece by an Italian pianist, Andrea Carri (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFbor-STslE&list=FLOVsap3ETXN641nYQ4v76Sw&index=2). I did a cover of this piece several years ago on this forum, but I was a noob with the PX560 and my playing abilities, so I was never really happy with it. Using the very handy https://app.musicspeedchanger.com/ once again, I was able to slow down the audio and learn by ear the Carri version. I really love how he interjects Bach's Sheep May Safely Graze into the mix. This is a four hands piano solo, so I used (4) midi tracks with (4) different piano voices: Noire Grand for backing rhythm GrPno Studio for bass Gr Piano Dolce for the lyrics GrPno Classic for the Bach runs BS_Symphony.mp3
  20. After much searching, I finally came across a well written piano score for this beautiful song from a French sheet music company (https://www.noviscore.com/piano-sheet-music-with-or-without-you-u2). This is the Level 2 version. (5) midi tracks consisting of: Slow Ballad1 rhythm on system track Grand Piano Dolce Finger Bass1 with arpeggiator #45 NoName Street (hex strings) Warm pad (copy of track 2 without pedal inputs) With or Without You.mp3
  21. I decided to cover the goofy (Oom-pah) theme song to the hilarious Canadian TV show Red Green (1991-2006). I especially enjoy Red's duct taped automotive contraptions and "Adventures with Bill" segments. It's one of those shows women (e.g. my wife) generally hate since it's Three Stooges type humor, Ha. I made a PDF of the sheet music which I found on a YouTube video. Kind of tricky with the triplets, but very fun to learn. (5) midi tracks consisting of: March 3 rhythm on system track Piano Acoustic Bass1 GM accordion Guitar with 7 semitone bends using pitch wheel Red Green Theme.mp3 Red Green Show Theme Song.pdf
  22. This is my first cover of a country song from 1968. Got to use fun harmonica and banjo voices for a change! I've always like the guitar lick and backing rhythm of this song. I had a heck of a time getting the "guitar" solo down by slowing the original music down to a snails crawl with https://musicspeedchanger.com/ and listening over and over. I ended up using an electric piano instead of guitar voice for the solo since Waylon's guitar bends, hammer-ons, etc., were too difficult to replicate. I cheated on this one by increasing the tempo to the insane 160bpm versus my max 125 bpm playing speed. 10 midi tracks consisting of: UK beat rhythm on system track Piano bright Cho. CleanGtr1 AiR E. 23. This one is per m10538's request. Really trippy and amazing harmonies from 1967. As the piece progresses, I take a more modern take using synths & arpeggiators. (12) midi tracks consisting of: Slow swing and Pop rhythms on system track Concert Piano for lyrics Finger Bass 2 w/ arpeggiator #44 Wide Strings Drawbar organ 3 for lyrics Separate (hex) at chorus Just What I needed (hex) w/ arpeggiator #1 at ending chorus Stereo Brass at chorus Cho. 24. Is there any documentation on the various PX560 drum kit instrument sounds per individual key press? I'm looking for a finger snap sound and painstakingly going thru the each of the +70 notes per each supplied drum kit to no avail. Worst case, I can substitute a wood block (which I did find). Just wondering if there's a better solution than hunt & peck?
  25. My take on a classic from 1967. No Midi editing or multiple tracks, just audio recording of live performance. Grand Concert Piano (upper 1) + Warm Pad (upper 2) with lots of reverb and delay added. Happy Together.mp3
