Hello , i want to connect a guitar to a casio px 5s through the input line of this one and control the volume of the guitar through a slider. Now , which is the midi control setting for doing this operation? -

I have arpeggiated the double notes so that they sound very even and mechanical, and there is also another arpeggiator which adds a bit more life to it, I think. I had a third one which was even better, but I decided to reluctantly delete it to give the melody more strength. This is one of my first goes with the arpeggiator - or indeed any arpeggiator - and I am surprise how much fun it is to both program and play. .The stage setting has a piccalo, synth, synth strings & a cello. I've done an re-issue totally for the PX5S this time a song about the adventures in a far away galaxy where there is a world with surrounded by planets that world is as big as the moon Titan. But what is Ghorak-V really. Everything is done in song mode except the pad which I've used arpeggio on so its a full phrase / arpeggio song :D. I've got to learn more about song mode and programming special voices to use on it cause like XW-G1 once you get the hang of it, It turns into a sonic creative addiction XD. Used two drum tracks on this the mix isn't up to par the song isn't complete or done well but i've learned song mode for a change. -
So I really only have two questions I hope someone can enlighten me on.. 1. When I change the tempo of a phrase I'm writing, it wont save the tempo after I write and save.. is there a way to save tempos to phrases? 2. I can't seem to figure out how to overdub more than one specific sound to a single phrase.. Is this possible? My band has a Rush situation going on as I'm playing Bass and Keys. So I really want to start triggering phrases on the keys while staying on bass Hope someone can help! Thanks, Bob

Hello everybody, I would like to be able to switch my PX5s patches and stage settings from Mainstage. In order to do this, I connect my Macbook to my PX5s with a usb cable, then I create a new channel strip in Mainstage and select "external instruments". I select "CASIO USB MIDI" as midi output device, channel "1-16", and click "create". Having done that, if I try to change the "program change" value, nothing happens on my Casio. PX5s is supposed to be a strong midi controller, so I guess I'm doing something wrong. Can anybody hel me? Thanks a lot in advice.

I've been using song mode lately as a drum machine to keep zone 1 free for sounds. Now I've been diving in stage menu if there was any possibility to start song mode by any key or if song mode would start by other means then the start / stop button itself. Phrase and song mode can start simultaneously when the start /stop button is pressed. But to do that Phrase and song mode have to be lit on for that to work same go's for audio play. So there is a bit of versatility there but what if I just want to hit a chord and have it all play. I've been menu diving to look purely if I could start song mode when I press a key as it seems It can't however. I needed a few things for a performance using the PX5S stage. 1 : Can the PX have song mode triggered when I hit a chord. 2 : Can the PX use the fifth phrase instead of song mode for drums. 2 : Can the PX have tempo sync either sync song mode and arpeggio or all together. I've looked in the Stage Common menu to find a way to make it work. And found something interesting about the pedals which can be programmed for anything including tempo sync and starting arpeggio , phrase or songmode. Not exactly what I've opted for but that'l work to get the show running. First triggering song mode by pedal, because the way I use it to apply a drum sequence its clearly different then using phrase sequencing which start and stop with key presses. But if you want to use two hexlayers this is one of the many ways using the PX5S only. Certainly if you want to keep the pedal free for sustaining or other. Cause I'm not sure if song mode sync's with arpeggio or phrases. Tempo sync is a bit of an oddity in a stage arpeggio / phrases are synced as is the fifth phrase which sync also this phrase can also be selected which phrase to play in the common menu. I've still to figure out how to set it up for drum sequence instead of using song mode. Tempo sync can be done by pedal I've assigned pedal two for when it is pressed it hits in. I'm still figuring out how this all work to make a stage sound tight and how I want it.

Some time ago I saw right here in the forum that there was an ongoing project of an app editor for ipad, just as there is for xwP1, and xwG1. Does anyone know if this software has been finalized. If anyone else has an interest in such an application, let's use this topic to ask developers!

Since a few weeks every working morning when I'm waking up while walking to the kitchen I also fire the PX5S up, which sits nicely in the living room near the window. It takes time for me to get into gear each morning but getting out of bed is the first step. After turning on the keyboard and either have my cup or not mostly I'll sit at the couch with the radio on my favorite classic channel it turns on at a , specific time and while I do not consciously completely hear the music I am watching the key's of my PX5S while thinking the day ahead but this the thing. Those morning times when I sit on the couch going through my waking process, Five minute or two I don't know I'll go sit behind the keyboard and try a brand new tune something out of no where. Before I even touch the key's I see my hands moving over for some kind of chords and then I'll keep going until a tune is there. And it actually is every morning going through my morning rituals a new tune comes up and it even doesn't require a lot of though or key presses something comes up from nowhere and there it is. Thank to the recorder inside the keyboard when I come home I always listen to the things I've tried that morning which is really funny but in the end it sounds quiet good. Thank You.

Hello, I just bought my PX5S and need to place my music sheets somewhere for playing. I have seen plastic shelves attached to Casio home pianos. Is there a simple attachment that I can get for my keyboard or even reuse one for another piano? Thanks in advance and I am really happy with my keyboard even in 2017.

I've just bought a Roland A500 Pro to hook up to my PX5S (and of course a DAW at some stage) and am starting to work on the basics of driving zones - so I've managed to play with setting the zones off/on for the PX5S but realising that, even when off on the PX5S, they can still be driven by the A500. But does anyone know if it is possible to assign a PX5s tone/stage setting to a channel other than 1-4 so that I can then drive that from the A500? In my limited logic, this would mean that I could assign up to additional "patches" to be driven by the A500. Or is it not as simple as that? I've exchanged some points on the FB page and it seems it may not be possible but just wondering if I can get a definitive answer here/ TIA, Kev

Built my own custom Organ Hex Layer Tone using all 6 Hex Layers. Basically combined several Organ Tones (plus a Voice) and edited the pitch and filter sections heavily. This is my own sound, not trying to be another sound, just a decent cool organ for pads mostly. Hi everybody, As new as I am with the PX-5s I don't find much on the net about the possibilities when connected to an Ipad. I bought aleady the USB to lightning connector , but I am very curious what I can do with my Ipad air. I suppose I can use it as a controller , so then what software do I use and how ? Is it possible to use th Ipad as a editor ? What about the midi sounds available on iTunes , are they compatible and do I need to install anything extra on the Ipad. Hi everyone! I need your help because I'm not able to set the PX5s as I want. Basically, in my Yamaha Motif's SONG I have programmed 3 channels in which the channel 2 is totally played by my Motif, the channel 1 is totally played by PX5s and channel 3 is layered with channel 1 on the PX5s but I would like that the CH 3 is enabled when I increase the slider number 1. I think that it's possible, but how can I do it? Thanks! Francesco

Hi People! I recently purchased a PX5S and love this forum along with the Facebook page. It's been a huge help getting started. I am learning my way around, and finally starting to get the whole stage setting thing. I have a question. I have read that I can use a specific stage setting... say 1-0, that be be completely for MIDI and control MainStage. I was using MainStage before buying this keyboard, using a simple MIDI controller, and it was plug and play... very easy and never had to worry about MIDI channels or any of that. I am a complete idiot when it comes to MIDI, and would like someone to explain specifically in detail, how to set a stage setting so that I can jump to that, and have control of my MainStage concerts and patches using all the sliders and knobs on the PX5S. Again, I am new and don't know much about MIDI, so if you can, please give me step by step, or point me to where that step by step process exists. So far, I have not even got into any editing of stage settings, other than I know how to change tones. I use USB for the MIDI and have a Pre-Sonus Interface along with a Macbook Pro. I did find the download for the PX5S layout, and that's awesome. I just don't know how to set my PX5S to use it for MainStage. Thanks in advance for all the excellent and wise advice from all you experts out there in Casio Land. J-MO

Used the Symphony stage on the PX5S. Inspiration hit me for a little improvisation. Bugs are bugs they don't all look pretty but when they fly its like a small symphony.

Good morning everybody I am a truly satisfied owner of a Casio px5s. For the first time since I've bought it, now I would like to use its phrase recorder. My aim is to record a simple phrase with a pad sound, so that I can use it as a loop and starting an improvisation with another instrument (from another keyboard). Well, I saw one of the providential Mike Martin's clinic where Mike explained how to do that, in fact I think I understood the theory. My problem is, if I do the same with a wonderful pad (such as, let's say, "Rainy dayz"- a Stage setting with two zone active -the first is a pad, the second a simple base with arpeggio) the phrase recorder will rec only zone 1 (the pad part) leaving me without the arpeggio part, and I found no way to record zone 2. Is it possible to rec it concurrently with zone 1? If not, how can I overdubt it in a second moment? In a sentence, my problem is that I am able to use phrase recorder only with zone 1. Many thanks tho everyone who'll help me and sorry for my english if I did some mistakes. -
To learn more about how an hexlayers is constructed I've chosen the preset "Rainy Dayz". Rainy Dayz is build around 1 hexlayer on zone 1 and a synth bass on zone 2. I've disabled zone 2 and dive in the hexlayers to examine it by turning all layers to off except the first layer. Layer one is an ReedOrgan tone but in this hexlayer it sounds more like an swirly string so went and turn all attacks, decay , release down. Did it with Pitch , Filter and AMP. Wanting to know what made ReedOrgan sound like a swirly string there was no change. So I checked the DSP nothing different, Switched from ReedOrgan a tone back you'll get PipeOrgan2 it sounded like that not swirling string like and went back to ReedOrgan. Now that was different the ReedOrgan tone didn't sound so stringy anymore. So I've reset the hexlayer to its origin and turned off everything except layer one I got the swirly string tone with ReedOrgan so I changed ReedOrgan to PipeOrgan2 and back. the swirly string tone was gone. How and what parameter changed ReedOrgan so much that I can't reconstruct it back. What I want to know is how that was done in the hexlayer from Rainy Dayz cause I can't figure it out.

I was doing some waveform browsing to create an hexlayer, And something stroke me a bit odd while auditioning the waveforms that is some are duplicate or just similar but shifted an octave up or down Have not noticed that before because I've not auditioned all wave previous then just skimming through them until now Some of the waves are the same waves but shifted and octave apart. Like orchit1 and 2 or some of the lead and pad sound sound similar but with a tiny distinction in their wave nuance. Half of the waves have their own unique sonic to them except the waves that sounds like duplication of the previous waves. I can only think something did not mapped right seeing I've updated PX5S twice but I do not know for sure if anyone else has this also.

I have created a stage setting that has piano in Zone 1. And an external module (Roland VK8m) that is connected to Line In and controlled by Zone 2. I want to be able to switch back and forth and also be able to blend the 2 instruments. I'm currently controlling the volume of each on Sliders 1 & 2. The problem is that I hear a tiny bit of the external module all the time, even when Slider 2 (cc11) is all the way down. Is there a way to access the Line In volume via a Stage Setting? Perhaps then I could really turn off the sound from the module.
