First attempt to create synth sound from "Queens Break-Free" Queen allegedly used Oberheim OB synth to create this, The G1 has Oberheim samples for both the synth and PCM parts within the solo-synth. For the synth part its 0087 - 0101 For the PCM part its 1767 - 1781 I've tried to figure out how to make that rich fat sound but I can't identify it yet. However I've found using sample 0046 MG Square L for synth part a better option to come close at it. So I'm guessing its a square wave and now have to figure out how to fatten it up and to make the sound glide down. maybe using portamento but a single stroke from the last note going down a few octaves also work. (work in progress)
  2. My weekend jam session playing on the XW-G1 made a cat-ish like sound patch and made a tune out from it .
  3. Ambient soundscapes live performance from a few newer patches I've created. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/sealiones-performance https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/radio-silence-performance
  4. Oscillator Shaping - RavingPundit View File This is an example for using Oscillator Shaping on the XW. Install it on a free user slot, assign solo-synth to zone 1 and don't forget to add the custom arpeggio also in a free slot. Its a rave synth btw :-) very addictive to play with. 6. I've done an re-issue totally for the PX5S this time a song about the adventures in a far away galaxy where there is a world with surrounded by planets that world is as big as the moon Titan. But what is Ghorak-V really. Everything is done in song mode except the pad which I've used arpeggio on so its a full phrase / arpeggio song :D. I've got to learn more about song mode and programming special voices to use on it cause like XW-G1 once you get the hang of it, It turns into a sonic creative addiction XD. Used two drum tracks on this the mix isn't up to par the song isn't complete or done well but i've learned song mode for a change.
  7. Hi all, Can anyone pls help me whether casio xw-g1 can be used for live performance or it can be used for only DJ's.. Actually i couldnt able to set sound banks in this as like we do in normal casio keys... pls help in this
  8. I've been up and jamming again solely with the XW-G1.
  9. I just purchased the XW-G1. After powering on the unit, the volume is very low. For example, with the master volume turned to max (i.e., 10), the sound remains at min (i.e., 1). I cannot tell if there's a problem with the instrument or if there's a setting that needs to be adjusted. The troubleshooting entries in the manual does not seem to address this issue. Can anyone offer suggestions to remedy this problem? Thanks for your help. Imanji
  10. XW-G1 45 Performance Sound Sets View File Sounds created to record and play with the Looper, They are also new sounds for the G1. This will get gradually filled up with more Performance sounds I've intentionally created to record loops with the looper but as I've later discovered the standard step sequence are great joy also for these patches. Hope you'll like some of them and be free to edit and make you're own from these. Submitter XW-Addict Submitted 03/08/2016 Category XW-G1

  12. Well, I've try to do a little routine with the step sequencer... just to use User waves instead of common instruments. The problem is now to export it to my DAW. I can record the pattern in WAV mode... This is OK. But, If I want to export the sequence in Midi mode ? Is it possible ? Even if there's only the note...
  13. Hello, I've received last week my XW-G1 ! I live in a little french tropical Island near Mauritius Island named La Réunion, so, the XW-G1 arrived by postal. When I received it, some keys were blocking a little so I decided to open the XW-G1 to see what's the problem. the white grease was absent in some places. I've seen that a little yellow wire was not welded, near the battery compartment. If someone could tell me why this yellow wire is not welded... Otherwise, the XW-G1 works perfectly ! It's a very powerful machine. I love it !
  14. Hi everyone, New to the forum and first time posting. I am trying to assign midi channels to control the midi send and receive on specific channels so I can mix external synth sounds with the G1 when using the step sequencer. There is a midi chart which makes it look straight forward but I can not find the settings in the synth. Also I always get midi channel one playing the (the solo synth) no matter what number the basic midi channel is set to. Hoping someone can advise. Many thanks Gabe
  15. Hello and happy new year 2016 ! I plan to buy a Casio WX-G1 but I have some questions that are not mentioned in the User's Manual. I read that it's possible to record samples (maximum 19 seconds, from another electronic instrument or a dynamic microphone). For example, I record "Happy New Year" with my microphone. The questions : 1°/ Is it possible to use this sample as an instrument (tone or performance, I don't know the exact term) and make it tune with the WX-G1 played notes ? If YES, using a sample record in a SD card ? And tweaking OSC, filters, decay... to apply effects ? (I've seen it's possible to speak in a micro and change pitch by playing keyboard. Not exactly a vocoder but similar... A video shows this example : " I am Ralph and I do synth" 2°/ Can I record the result ? 3°/ Is it possible to record a complete music (Step sequencer, loops etc...) in SMF (Midi) format (except the samples, of course !) ? Thanks a lot for your help. Xavier-Joseph from Reunion Island
  16. Hi I've recently purchased the XW-G1 and I've been trying to figure this out for ages. basically I want to know is after you create something from within the synth e.g. a drum pattern, melody ect.. how do I then export that as a wav file to use within my DAW? also I would like to know how I can record full tracks and live sets from within the synth, Is there any way to take the master output of the synth and send it to my DAW and record it as an audio file?
  17. I was watching B-boy breakin video's music and dance is catchy, I wanted to do the music part this my first try of it. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/b-boy-breaking-jamnod
  18. I dunno anymore how long I have the G1 maybe a year and a half but I'm so into it now, Totally grown with it musically it changed allot it gave me piano lessons for real and the step to buy an PX5S which I also feel the love from. In short I'm addicted to this thing, I always though making good music comes from the best instrument money can buy its true for a part but the best comes from inspiration and skills. Skills you can get buy practicing, Inspiration is just opening you're mind while you learn from the best. I'm glad there is an sample option so glad that I've made a whole lotta bunch of them I mean really this thing has sampling function to do near almost anything. Overdub is a great function I wish all Casio had them even the PX5S if that one would overdub the sky would be the limit. The thing is when you get experience with the sampling on the G1 you soon wish it could do this and that specially when it has synthesis on it and filters. Layering performance sounds on a sample track is what I do most but its something you can do once some times I wish to filter a part of an instrument while the sample plays usually I'm stacking four sounds which is a typical setup , drums , bass , melody and Fx sounds. But its asking to much so a work around is building the same sample loop a couple of time with different filters on different instrument sound. And program a patch to play on top within that patch assigning note to a key to each loop with multi-key but that is during breaks or drops to have it work smooth. Loading time is still an issue on this synth seems there isn't anything to do load them faster. All is good the force is strong in this one .
  19. As the second all-file patch in the making "Loop The Looper" plus a few sample loops I've made and soon to be added. I'm starting to love making patches and how sound designing works synthesizers are great machine I can't have enough purely because making music is fun and addicted to do.
  20. I got into Sitars this week and tried several way of performance synthesis, After several day's I got something to my liking I though to share it with you guys as it is one better yet the first complete performance patch I've created since having an XW-G1. For the listeners I have this noodling I've made with the SitarGroove Performance patch, For owners of the G1 the patch is downloadable here. http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/919-sitar-groove/ Note of interest I created prior before even improving or finishing the patch made a sample loop from the second try and am using that to switch from Sseq to Sample loop creating this ambiance which you can hear in the noodling as usual my enthusiasm make some wrong notes but its late (*Half past twelve close to midnight*) I'll do another one some other time. Enjoy. SitarGrooving.MP3 Sitar greets.MP3

NOTE: The website would not let me upload the step sequence with the correct extention of .ZSS, I had to change it to .ZSQ to upload it. So if you download it you will have to change the file extention from .ZSQ back to .ZSS the correct file name extention. Description: This is the StepSequence with a new user configuration called GrooveBox 1. I had an issue using the XW-G1 factory settings for the StepSequencer as a groovebox. The issue is I want to use the sliders to turn the parts on & off with all drum parts and the bass guitar part on the same group of sliders. The factory setting has the kick drum on slider 8 in the first set of sliders (1-8 sliders) and the other drum parts on 9-12 sliders and the bass guitar on part 13. So I created a new user step sequence configuration with the parts moved around a little. I moved the kick drum from slider 8 (part 8) to slider 13 (part 13), the bass guitar from slider 13 (part 13) to slider 14 (part 14), and solo 1 from slider 14 (part 14) to slider 8 (part 8). I could not change the part names. The part 8 is still named "Drm1" even though it is now "Sol1", part 13 is still "Bass" even though it is now "Drm1", and part 14 is still named "Sol1" even though it is now "Bass". Instructions for use: 1. Press the "STEP SEQUENCER" button 2. Press the "SELECT" button to select sliders 9-16 3. Create a sequence by turning the buttons off & on for the parts 9-16 as usual 4. While playing the sequence, Press the "MIXER" button to bring up the mixer menu and make sure "Part" is selected so the sliders turn on & off the parts. Slider up turns on the part & slider down turns off the part

  23. I made a patch with brass and strings to create an old kind of country , western sound. I find that kind of music so versatile in playing style like the stabs with violins and little glissando effects. It would be a nice addition to add so far I got two patches in the works trying to get some of the country style synthesized. Heck I even try flat picking with key's )
  24. Jamming with PX5S and XW-G1 The first from Berlin the second I don't remember from which band It just sprung out while I was jamming a beat. Take My Breath Away. Familiar Tune For Which I've Forgot The Name From Familiar Tune Which I forgot The Name From.MP3 Take My Breath Away.MP3
  25. If only it was on the engineers wish list side band filtering keeping tonality in a full spectrum and skew it however you wanted on the G1. Loop points can only do so much and so little you keep telling yourself aaaaah if only that would be sweet.
