  1. I was playing a performance which sounded smooth as a bit trimmed down laid back something. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/tell-me-2-hold-on-live-performance The performance patch has a deep gong bass sound I played with it a lot having fun with it and then I had the though to try the arpeggio on it because lately I used the phrase sequence a lot (bless that function), I had several altered arpeggio for which I wanted to edit to find a nice arp thing going then while going through the user preset I stumbled on one in particular that gave the performance patch that analog kinda deep roaring thingie I was like what the F*ck was the XW doing this. I should do more with it maybe create it into a solosynth what do you guys think do you have something like this is it worth the effort. !!! Warning be "Careful" with headphones on or with speakers !!! Bizzar Motion Sequence.MP3
  2. No fuss 3 chilling patterns a lowsub solosynth an organ a timpani. Sample a kick ass bit to switch in between works pretty darn good that sampler. After I've finished it lay on the couch with a cold one let the sun do its work while I sit enjoy the good springtime feeling doing nutting. It isn't played 100% so I've called it Out-Off-Sync a well I'm still chilling. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/out-of-sync-gooberjam-on-sunday Edit (redone it because it was to soft)
  3. Hi all I have a request about new stuff put in the download tab, You all have great patches in the make and set them up for download and that is super however there is a volume of releases exceeding the overall view over them where it is easy to loose track from. Like if you post 1 or 4 patches that is oversee-able but when its over that amount it really hard to pick a good one out. If there is a special theme to you're patches bundle them together in a zip file together with a txt/pdf list of the sound. This way if you also do want to update the patches you don't have to individually access each patches and upload them again, which I think would be a daunting task if you have several of them. I hope this rings along as a good idea for you're next patches, There are already a good few packages maintained this way. Regards XW-Addict - Color Is Nature Emotion -
  4. I was working on a patch for that Interstellar thing (with the in-between time to spend on it), I've found something very interesting while working on this kind of fiddling. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/beef-sandwich-a-vegetarian-nightmare-nightfish Wanting to assign Eq to knobs 2 3 and 4 while having cutoff on knob 1. Building a performance patch arranged as follows solosynth on zone 1 and tones for 2 3 and 4,Zone one with the solosynth as a riser like sound configured white noise increasing and lowering cutoff for the Sseq as well. Nice yes but not enough so I rearrange the knobs like this Knob 1 Cuttof , Knob 2 Release , Knob 3 Attack, Knob 4High Gain. So now I don't have full access for Eq having Low , Mid and High which I wanted all and all it was a nice config. And then I let it rest until the next day I found something and was like "Hold on", Solosynth is on zone 1 use the TotalFilter knob to directly access all sliders control function for the solosynth .....Because the G1 can . Yes now I have Filtertype on 1 ,Cutoff on slider 2,Resonance on 3 , Envelope dept on 4. True it's not assignable but its there as I don't need Resonance and Envelope dept for this particular patch I can leave them but Filtertype and Cutoff works well in this case. Thats two sliders and four knobs for this Performance patch and that is because a solosynth is on zone 1 which is convenient. Actually it is two sliders, modulation and bender which you can use effectively. I have not used full scope from solosynth with samples to switch and use Osc block, Env generator,TotalFilter/LFO as of yet this prove, With a bit of creativity there lots to get out from this synthesizer. (I'm still on discovery spree but on the sonic side I'm there dude)
  5. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/planet-zed-part-1-interstellar-travel XW-G1 is a though little one, Previous I would use anything in a patch or leave out stuff like DSP over control, Global reverb chorus and in combination with Solo synth. End result was quiet a muddy patch and Sseq over time I learned to get the best of parts of the G1 with much desirable result. I got this Planet Zed song setup as follow in performance I got a solo synth on channel 1, This Ssynth I use as sound fx using white noise in addition I've set arpeggio only to this zone. Then I used on zone 2 a VA synth and 3 has Sweep choir. And then I program a step sequence first in the sampler build that up to a nice groove and rebuild it again in Sseq. Try to figure out if you can hear the switch between Sample loop and Sseq pattern I'm switching between with.

  8. I like Metal so I've edited the Last Order patch a bit and came with this XD I call this one - The Crave - Seriously enjoyed making it as part of a coming set Performance patch - Phrase and Step Sequence. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/the-crave-death-metal-on-the-xw-g1-xd ROCK ON !!!~! UUUUUURGH XD
  9. Here's a house track which just uses the sequecer and mixer mute buttons. Had to use three chains on this one. No chords in this piece so the problem/lag with the clock when swtching patterns wasn't really noticeable. Could do with a mean vocal accompanied by some filter sweeps and kicks rolls to build up to the section changes. Peace!
  10. A demo of my second to be soundpack plus Step Sequences its not big but still under construction. They are good for single performances or stacked as one big one for recording. I always feel invited to do something cool on this synth, The sense of limitation is what lifts the curtain of endless possibilities when you try. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/saturdee-skit-sonicaddiction https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/scraping-on-saturday-xw-g1-jam XW-G1 Cool In Many Way's.
  11. Still bussy with synth stuff though I let one of the jamstuff I'm working on for some listening. I want to include it all to an all file like its done on the PX5S will take some time some sequence takes weeks to build nothing copied all fresh from the noggin. For you're (ahem) enjoyment La Guitara https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/xw-addict-lanza-del-relampago-improvisation-on-px5s This a step sequence I've been working on (still) its a demo of the 8 patterns I normally succeed creating four https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/dubstep-city-dub2stepchoco
  14. I'm new to the forum and have a coupla questions I'd really appreciate your help with guys on the XW-G1. First up:- Whenever I record a chord or melody line in the step sequencer it always changes the tone to a full tone or more higher. It's as if it's transposing or raising the pitch of everything that goes in. I have looked for a solution before posing this but it's got me beat- Is there something wrong with my machine maybe? While I'm here can I ask a cheeky question about changing the volume of the tone you play vs the step sequencer which is really soft. I imagine this is pretty straightforward.

  19. So the Fokes (Mom and Dad) are off to fugi and then to New Z-land for a few weeks. So last weekend i thought, " Let me do some kind of "tropical rich vachion tune" like an add that you see. This is the clip. ----------------------------------------------------------- Got to have a pic frist? Well this one might do, but it's just a Google. https://studybooks.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/leaningpalmtreetahiti.jpg But the tune is me - XW-G1 New Zeland.wav " Sir, the Beach is just right out front. 20. Although the Performance patches are nice and a good source as a template, In the beginning however it was a difficult ride because my inexperience both in synthesis , step sequencing and sound designing and most importantly as a starting musician again . Learned many things on the forum followed the video tutorial and kept experimenting with the XW-G1 and every step I got familiar with its inner working. Using the controls , arpeggio, Step and Phrase sequence in addition with performance patch. The G1 has its own specific sound it kinda sounds bare most synths have PCM tones that sound like being done in the studio with the G1 you have to do it yourself editing the tone to you're piece. The true magic to sounds are always DSP , Equalizing effects rather in DAWS or Synths they always add a little more to tones. The single DSP the G1 has, I thought it wasn't enough you can't add different effects to each zone or channel for the step sequence however you can assign which channel may use DSP effect. And with that most of you're sound designing starts off at least for me it is when I'm not using the solo synth that is because that one takes all. Solo synth is a real "solo" part with the DSP. Did allot combinations where I used the Solo synth sole DSP use in a performance patch to hear how far you can go music wise. It has its cons and pro's, Cons are if you're not choosing how tones can be manipulated it will sound far out to what you want, Sometimes you gotta keep in mind how the tone will swell or die in layers of filters. Pro's are tones can be manipulated in the same sequence of you're piece for example a pan-flanger a nice effect seem like a fine grain detune in the low and higher frequency. I did lots of patching with DSP effects one of my favorite is this one. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/snarlylead-demo-3-with-total With that I found my way to open up the G1 with its single DSP in performance mode, It also made me ponder allot about how difficult it was to make it work on my amateur level. Though also why Casio did not add more DSP to this synth or allow way's to trigger controls into tones as a patch gradually those question have been answers on the forum . I did allot with a single dsp more on the G1 in whole with what its capable. The only thing for me left is being a better keyboardist to make it sound musically right and good. But I have to say to me the G1 is a bare synth with no glamorous high quality stuff on it but the beauty of that is it made me not lazy to let it sound glamorous and high quality like its a question of good sound patch programming. Now I have also the PX5S which sounds luscious to my ear good use of controls four DSP hello sound heaven. With this last one I got a list with stuff like when I connect G1 and PX5S together through midi or redirect the line-out of the G1 into the PX5 and such etc. Last but not least some good sound programming on the XW-G1 by CasioMusicGear. https://soundcloud.com/casiomusicgear/xw-house-jam (edited in about pedals) Pedals are still new to me as an extension to use changing nature of sound its also nice switching and trigger controllers on the G1 a big difference which I should have added in the post earlier. In case of the G1 the part to trigger looper recording changes you're whole perspective chorus lines and interlude, Go figure (tap on the hat) . Good job Casio.

  22. I have created all my arpeggios and am working on creating my phrases and tones/patches. It has been a while since I have created a music video so here is one I created and uploaded today of an EDM Live Jam sampling with XW-G1.
  23. I am trying to load in some samples onto my XW-G1 that I made on my computer. My band is going to use them as backing tracks (drummer is playing to a click, and I will trigger the backing tracks) - I uploaded them onto the User Wave tones using the DataEditor. But I have a couple of questions. 1) We have one interlude sample that is about 1 minute long. I am aware that the looper can't play back the entire thing, as it is meant to only play short things that are looped. Most of the samples are short so that's not a problem, except for the one interlude. Is there a different place I can load the sample in through the data editor? For instance, PCM melody, PCM Drum DSP, Solo Synth, etc. These are all options in the drop down menu on the "transfer" section on DataEditor. 2) On my keyboard in the User wave tones, it goes from U:200-210 and then skips to U:300-U:310... where are the other 100 user tones? DataEditor will only let me load in 10 samples, from 200-209... how do I use the other user tones? or can I only use 10? Any help I can get would be great, thank you.
  24. Hello everyone: Can you share tips on the use of the XW-G1? I need advice because I've bought a XW-G1. Thank you.
