  1. I dunno anymore how long I have the G1 maybe a year and a half but I'm so into it now, Totally grown with it musically it changed allot it gave me piano lessons for real and the step to buy an PX5S which I also feel the love from. In short I'm addicted to this thing, I always though making good music comes from the best instrument money can buy its true for a part but the best comes from inspiration and skills. Skills you can get buy practicing, Inspiration is just opening you're mind while you learn from the best. I'm glad there is an sample option so glad that I've made a whole lotta bunch of them I mean really this thing has sampling function to do near almost anything. Overdub is a great function I wish all Casio had them even the PX5S if that one would overdub the sky would be the limit. The thing is when you get experience with the sampling on the G1 you soon wish it could do this and that specially when it has synthesis on it and filters. Layering performance sounds on a sample track is what I do most but its something you can do once some times I wish to filter a part of an instrument while the sample plays usually I'm stacking four sounds which is a typical setup , drums , bass , melody and Fx sounds. But its asking to much so a work around is building the same sample loop a couple of time with different filters on different instrument sound. And program a patch to play on top within that patch assigning note to a key to each loop with multi-key but that is during breaks or drops to have it work smooth. Loading time is still an issue on this synth seems there isn't anything to do load them faster. All is good the force is strong in this one .
  2. As the second all-file patch in the making "Loop The Looper" plus a few sample loops I've made and soon to be added. I'm starting to love making patches and how sound designing works synthesizers are great machine I can't have enough purely because making music is fun and addicted to do.
  3. I got into Sitars this week and tried several way of performance synthesis, After several day's I got something to my liking I though to share it with you guys as it is one better yet the first complete performance patch I've created since having an XW-G1. For the listeners I have this noodling I've made with the SitarGroove Performance patch, For owners of the G1 the patch is downloadable here. http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/919-sitar-groove/ Note of interest I created prior before even improving or finishing the patch made a sample loop from the second try and am using that to switch from Sseq to Sample loop creating this ambiance which you can hear in the noodling as usual my enthusiasm make some wrong notes but its late (*Half past twelve close to midnight*) I'll do another one some other time. Enjoy. SitarGrooving.MP3 Sitar greets.MP3

NOTE: The website would not let me upload the step sequence with the correct extention of .ZSS, I had to change it to .ZSQ to upload it. So if you download it you will have to change the file extention from .ZSQ back to .ZSS the correct file name extention. Description: This is the StepSequence with a new user configuration called GrooveBox 1. I had an issue using the XW-G1 factory settings for the StepSequencer as a groovebox. The issue is I want to use the sliders to turn the parts on & off with all drum parts and the bass guitar part on the same group of sliders. The factory setting has the kick drum on slider 8 in the first set of sliders (1-8 sliders) and the other drum parts on 9-12 sliders and the bass guitar on part 13. So I created a new user step sequence configuration with the parts moved around a little. I moved the kick drum from slider 8 (part 8) to slider 13 (part 13), the bass guitar from slider 13 (part 13) to slider 14 (part 14), and solo 1 from slider 14 (part 14) to slider 8 (part 8). I could not change the part names. The part 8 is still named "Drm1" even though it is now "Sol1", part 13 is still "Bass" even though it is now "Drm1", and part 14 is still named "Sol1" even though it is now "Bass". Instructions for use: 1. Press the "STEP SEQUENCER" button 2. Press the "SELECT" button to select sliders 9-16 3. Create a sequence by turning the buttons off & on for the parts 9-16 as usual 4. While playing the sequence, Press the "MIXER" button to bring up the mixer menu and make sure "Part" is selected so the sliders turn on & off the parts. Slider up turns on the part & slider down turns off the part
  5. I made a patch with brass and strings to create an old kind of country , western sound. I find that kind of music so versatile in playing style like the stabs with violins and little glissando effects. It would be a nice addition to add so far I got two patches in the works trying to get some of the country style synthesized. Heck I even try flat picking with key's )
  6. Jamming with PX5S and XW-G1 The first from Berlin the second I don't remember from which band It just sprung out while I was jamming a beat. Take My Breath Away. Familiar Tune For Which I've Forgot The Name From Familiar Tune Which I forgot The Name From.MP3 Take My Breath Away.MP3
  7. I'm new to the forum and have a coupla questions I'd really appreciate your help with guys on the XW-G1. First up:- Whenever I record a chord or melody line in the step sequencer it always changes the tone to a full tone or more higher. It's as if it's transposing or raising the pitch of everything that goes in. I have looked for a solution before posing this but it's got me beat- Is there something wrong with my machine maybe? While I'm here can I ask a cheeky question about changing the volume of the tone you play vs the step sequencer which is really soft. I imagine this is pretty straightforward.
  8. I was playing a performance which sounded smooth as a bit trimmed down laid back something. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/tell-me-2-hold-on-live-performance The performance patch has a deep gong bass sound I played with it a lot having fun with it and then I had the though to try the arpeggio on it because lately I used the phrase sequence a lot (bless that function), I had several altered arpeggio for which I wanted to edit to find a nice arp thing going then while going through the user preset I stumbled on one in particular that gave the performance patch that analog kinda deep roaring thingie I was like what the F*ck was the XW doing this. I should do more with it maybe create it into a solosynth what do you guys think do you have something like this is it worth the effort. !!! Warning be "Careful" with headphones on or with speakers !!! Bizzar Motion Sequence.MP3
  9. No fuss 3 chilling patterns a lowsub solosynth an organ a timpani. Sample a kick ass bit to switch in between works pretty darn good that sampler. After I've finished it lay on the couch with a cold one let the sun do its work while I sit enjoy the good springtime feeling doing nutting. It isn't played 100% so I've called it Out-Off-Sync a well I'm still chilling. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/out-of-sync-gooberjam-on-sunday Edit (redone it because it was to soft)
  10. Hi all I have a request about new stuff put in the download tab, You all have great patches in the make and set them up for download and that is super however there is a volume of releases exceeding the overall view over them where it is easy to loose track from. Like if you post 1 or 4 patches that is oversee-able but when its over that amount it really hard to pick a good one out. If there is a special theme to you're patches bundle them together in a zip file together with a txt/pdf list of the sound. This way if you also do want to update the patches you don't have to individually access each patches and upload them again, which I think would be a daunting task if you have several of them. I hope this rings along as a good idea for you're next patches, There are already a good few packages maintained this way. Regards XW-Addict - Color Is Nature Emotion -
  11. I was working on a patch for that Interstellar thing (with the in-between time to spend on it), I've found something very interesting while working on this kind of fiddling. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/beef-sandwich-a-vegetarian-nightmare-nightfish Wanting to assign Eq to knobs 2 3 and 4 while having cutoff on knob 1. Building a performance patch arranged as follows solosynth on zone 1 and tones for 2 3 and 4,Zone one with the solosynth as a riser like sound configured white noise increasing and lowering cutoff for the Sseq as well. Nice yes but not enough so I rearrange the knobs like this Knob 1 Cuttof , Knob 2 Release , Knob 3 Attack, Knob 4High Gain. So now I don't have full access for Eq having Low , Mid and High which I wanted all and all it was a nice config. And then I let it rest until the next day I found something and was like "Hold on", Solosynth is on zone 1 use the TotalFilter knob to directly access all sliders control function for the solosynth .....Because the G1 can . Yes now I have Filtertype on 1 ,Cutoff on slider 2,Resonance on 3 , Envelope dept on 4. True it's not assignable but its there as I don't need Resonance and Envelope dept for this particular patch I can leave them but Filtertype and Cutoff works well in this case. Thats two sliders and four knobs for this Performance patch and that is because a solosynth is on zone 1 which is convenient. Actually it is two sliders, modulation and bender which you can use effectively. I have not used full scope from solosynth with samples to switch and use Osc block, Env generator,TotalFilter/LFO as of yet this prove, With a bit of creativity there lots to get out from this synthesizer. (I'm still on discovery spree but on the sonic side I'm there dude)
  12. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/planet-zed-part-1-interstellar-travel XW-G1 is a though little one, Previous I would use anything in a patch or leave out stuff like DSP over control, Global reverb chorus and in combination with Solo synth. End result was quiet a muddy patch and Sseq over time I learned to get the best of parts of the G1 with much desirable result. I got this Planet Zed song setup as follow in performance I got a solo synth on channel 1, This Ssynth I use as sound fx using white noise in addition I've set arpeggio only to this zone. Then I used on zone 2 a VA synth and 3 has Sweep choir. And then I program a step sequence first in the sampler build that up to a nice groove and rebuild it again in Sseq. Try to figure out if you can hear the switch between Sample loop and Sseq pattern I'm switching between with.
  13. I fiddled long enough with the G1 now I'm more acquainted with it mind you I'm not a professional musician although with more practice and the piano lesson I'm taking for several months it's getting there so here is one of my many creations its not a well put together performance patch but after a few try's something like this came out. 16. Here's a house track which just uses the sequecer and mixer mute buttons. Had to use three chains on this one. No chords in this piece so the problem/lag with the clock when swtching patterns wasn't really noticeable. Could do with a mean vocal accompanied by some filter sweeps and kicks rolls to build up to the section changes. Peace!
  17. I like Metal so I've edited the Last Order patch a bit and came with this XD I call this one - The Crave - Seriously enjoyed making it as part of a coming set Performance patch - Phrase and Step Sequence. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/the-crave-death-metal-on-the-xw-g1-xd ROCK ON !!!~! 18. A demo of my second to be soundpack plus Step Sequences its not big but still under construction. They are good for single performances or stacked as one big one for recording. I always feel invited to do something cool on this synth, The sense of limitation is what lifts the curtain of endless possibilities when you try. https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/saturdee-skit-sonicaddiction https://soundcloud.com/clay-louis-petty/scraping-on-saturday-xw-g1-jam XW-G1 Cool In Many Way's.
