Hello everyone! It has been a pleasure delving into the PX-5S community throughout the last few weeks - what a fantastic group of folks willing to help each other out. Thanks for having me. On to what you are here for: the Flavell Horns stage setting 🥳🤠 The patch consists of four tones, assigned and volume-controlled by slider: Slider 1: Choir Pad Slider 2: Saxophones Slider 3: Brass Slider 4: Piano There are three features of this stage setting that set it aside from other horn patches: real-time vibrato rate and depth adjustments, the ability to perform "pseudo-falls," and three separate cutoff assignments for extremely shapeable, dynamic timbres. 1. Vibrato rate vs. depth Slider 5 controls the rate of vibrato (fast vs. slow) while the mod wheel controls vibrato amplitude (deep vs. shallow). Slider 5 at around 090+ and mod wheel all the way up creates a brass shake. For a gentle warble effect, dial slider 5 to around 010-020 and raise the mod wheel about 1/2 of the way. 2. Falls, scoops The pitch bend wheel has been modified to perform comfortable falls (simply hold down a chord with one hand, and quickly bend the wheel all the way down - once all the way down, release the chord). Scoops and other pitch inflections are also very doable with the current pitch bend wheel settings. 3. Timbre alterations/secret sauce 🙂 There are a couple more parameters that provide for a highly flexible stage setting, spanning from punchy horn sections to extremely mellow pads: Knob 1 controls frequency cutoff for Z1: Choir Pad Knob 2 controls frequency cutoff for Z2: Saxophones Knob 3 controls frequency cutoff for Z3: Brass Slider 6 controls global reverb Slider 1 is intentionally left at 0 volume when you load up the setting because of its reverb tail. I find that it's not as suitable for more aggressive timbres that can be crafted with this stage setting; it's meant for gentler, paddy textures that can be quickly created by turning down each of the first three knobs. Generally: Knobs set to low cutoff = mellow and pad-like Knobs set to high cutoff = bright and aggressive So there you have it! PinballEP2Pad this is the stage setting that i made for my tune called "Pinball Blues" and I used it on the Casio booth live stream on SXSW 2014 in Austin TX. Stage Setting tha uses all 4 Zones: Zone 1 - Crunch EP2 (Hex Layer) - downloaded from the Casio Music Forum Zone 2 - Too Close (Hex Layer) - downloaded from the Casio Music Forum Zone 3 - Brass Section - preset from the String/Brass section Zone 4 - Click Organ - preset from the Organ section Controller assignements: Pedal 1 - Sustain (sustains all zones except the Zone 3 Brass sound) Pedal 2 - Zone On/Off (with this pedal you turn the Brass sound on/off) Mod.Wheel - Delay intensity (from 0-127) Slider 1 - Distortion level for the Electric Piano Slider 2 - Amp.simulation Slider 3 - Dist.Low / Dist.High Slider 4 - Chorus Slider 5 - Volume for Zone 2 (Pad sound) Slider 6 - Volume for Zone 4 (Organ Sound) Here is the link of the video on which i'm using this stage setting with the backing track wave file played drectlly from the PX5S thumb drive.The Wave file is the original backing track from my album with live Drums/Bass/Guitar/Trumpet minus the keyboards which I'm playing live on the PX5S! I'm playing a solo synth lead part on the Casio XW-P1 but i don't remember what was the sound name that i used on the video,maybe Mike will know. This Stage Setting uses three arpeggios on three zones to separate a tuba, trombone, and trumpet into the lowest, middle, and highest notes of a triad. Because it's an arpeggio, the main "gotcha" is that it repeats. However, the step size is set to be a quarter note to help minimize this effect. You can also press the sustain pedal and release the keys for a full sustain with no repeats. The attached MP3 has a "before and after". The first sample is with the arpeggiator turned off. All voices are sounding on all notes in unison. The second sample is with the arpeggiator on, separating the instruments. I chose brass sounds in response to an old post in the forums about the "more perfect brass section," but I'm sure there could be plenty of other applications!

I love brasses they give such a full range of harmonic color I had to try it out I was thinking. Count bassie, Don Ray , Duke ellington, Grover Washington Jr. So here it is a sort of brass-hit, Softbrass I've eq't for a softer edge,CitybrassXl is louder ive added delay effect I've discoverd that you can create an effect specific within performance mode patch you create that cool. So it is more like a brass hit you can alter each instruments ,octave shift ,transpose and effect to change how it sounds. Enjoy. I've edited them again today new upload deleted the other changed the step sequence same stuff different beat added a third.

My first effort at getting a meaty synth brass sound. Hope it's of use to anyone out there.
