  1. Hi friends! When I load download stage, example named SlipSlider, there is written: Tone: !HEX:U:102 > SlipSlidePad but when I press button "+/Yes" then "-/No" it become: Tone: *HEX:U:102 > PhasChDistEp Why? Where is stored SlipSlidePad tone? How to find it? I don't understand it 🥺 Sorry for my English. Best regards!
  2. Joes Section View File With renewed interest in my XW-P1, and after working at hex layers with the PX560-I decided to recreate-a bit old-school stylistically-a hex layer for the XW-P1 which is similar to one I have uploaded here for the PX560 already, which I divided up into zones and with slightly different instrumentation. This is a little different, the drawbars/sliders are so handy on the XW-I have programmed a trad jazz section of instruments-all layered together across the entire keyboard to be brought in and out with the drawbars. Nothing fancy as far as dynamic control from the keys-just straight through the drawbars. 1-6 are 1) flute, 2) mute trumpet, 3) alto sax, 4) acoustic piano, 5) breathy sax and 6) tremolo vibes. Sure wish I could midi the PX560 to the XW and use the XW drawbars to control levels in the PX560 hex layers-but as hard as i have studied, I do not think it is possible. There are no specific cc messages to control the hex layer dynamics in the PX560. Would be very cool if anybody AlenK maybe? Brad? Mike Martin? Would be a killer feature......maybe, somebody?? Japan-firmware update? Submitter Jokeyman123 Submitted 03/31/2020 Category XW-Synths

A Stage Setting inspired by what was started during Live Clinic #2....although the final product went a different direction. Sliders 1-2 control filter for the pad. Knobs 1-4 control the sound of the arpeggiated part. Enjoy. Audio Demo: https://soundcloud.com/casiomusicgear/casio-px-5s-orbiting

I haven't used my PX-5S for worship but I got a gig that required it. All the tunes were pretty much just ethereal pads and some piano. So I used Maximillion as a start, as it's a pretty full and thick Hexlayer, removed layers 5 and 6, and added a zone 2 with a Grand Piano. Two sliders govern the volume of zone 1 (hexlayer) and zone 2 (piano). The first four sliders control the volumes of the 4 layers in the hexlayer. Knob 3 is high gain, knob 4 is reverb. I like this setting because I can do JUST pads or JUST piano, fading in the entire hex layer or controlling individual aspects via the sliders. Have fun! -Tom

This is a vibraphone hex layer tone that uses samples from my Deagan Aurora II vibraphone. The samples were made years ago on an (Ensoniq?) ESI-32 sampler, and I've ported them over to various Yamaha and Korg synths (and now the MZ-X) for live playing with a Xylosynth mallet controller. Let me know if you're able to load this into your MZ-X, and if you find it useful (and more realistic than the preset vibe tones?).

  12. When I use split mode with Hex Layer 039 GTR'Bass (Lower 1) and Piano (Upper 1) there is a sporadic noisy sound when hitting a key hard - sound is clearly generated by electronic, undistorted, sinoid, about 500-800Hz. The normal bass guitar sound is not generated as long as the key is hit. Disappears with the next key is hit. Occurs sporadically about every 10th-30th key pressed. Firmware Update V1.14 has been loaded (issue was there with Version V1.0 as well). Example file attached. Any ideas how to fix this? Issue_Hex_Layer_Bass_Guitar_in_split_mode.WAV
  13. Some thoughts: 1. If you bought your xw used and it didn't come with the manual, you will need to download it (at the very least), and there is also a pcm wave list you can download. I was not able to figure out on my own how to switch between hex layers when programming a sound (turns out it's the part select buttons). 2. Envelope and filter options are quite limited. There are no filter envelopes and as far as I can tell there are no pitch envelopes either. There is a filter "cutoff" value for each element, and that's all you get. There are no amplitude envelopes per se, either; instead, each pcm wave seems to have a rudimentary amp envelope associated with it ("dyno EP" behaves differently than any saw or organ wave, for example, and a lot of the samples have attack transients baked into them), but you do get to enter some offset values in the amplitude envelope editing section, which I acknowledge is better than nothing. 8 3. There is a separate area for user sounds. Kudos to Casio for this excellent choice. You don't have to overwrite anything. 4. A few years back I owned a WK3200 and much of the pcm waveform ROM on the xw is the same. Dated, much? But it's mostly all decent and usable if not spellbindingly great. The exception is the Rhodes EP sound. On the WK, which used the Casio ZPI synth engine, high and low harmonics were looped seperately, I believe. The sound was much more 3 dimensional on the WK than on the xw (or the WK7xxx series for that matter). Just saying. The Rhodes was really good on the older instrument. 5. There are certainly a ton of pcm waves available but a lot of them sound awful similar. Is there really a lot of difference between "choirahhs" and "heavenB"? To name but one of many examples. Much has been made of all the new synth waves but really, isn't one sawtooth pretty much like another? Yeah they have moog saw and jupiter saw but they're all short samples and they don't sound much different from one another. 6. The physical build of the instrument is more than satisfactory. Keyboard feel is light synth action and I like it fine. I bought this to use as a controller but I am quite happy with it's sound producing features. Plastic, yeah, but sturdy plastic. I feel like I got a real good deal.

  15. Hollow Strings View File This is a custom Hex Layer tone using all 6 heavily edited layers (Sine from scratch, Synth Voice, White Noise, Strings x2 and Pad). Has a slight swell built into it. Good for Praise Band or any type of music requiring something different and mood setting. Hard to believe this is one Tone in the PX5S..... 17. This can't be right. I'm building up a registration, one of them is a hex layer. Pressing the tone button and then select, you see the layers and can adjust the volume with the sliders. Fantastic design! So i adjust the volume balance of the hex layers to my liking and then save the registration. But the volume balancing i just performed and thought i saved does NOT save to the registration, it goes back to the original hex layer volume balance. Please tell me it ain't so or that I'm missing something. Casio wouldn't cheap out on a supremely small amount of extra memory it would take to accommodate that for the registrations-?? Randy

I'm not playing the conga lively, but using cyclic music phrase, with second pedals to control its start / end. 《Dream Field》.mp3It seems like a band show, really?

A simple square wave sound as close as I could get to the sound from the Birabuto Kingdom song from Super Mario. Load the registration in an empty area and the tone into an empty user hex layer location Knobs 1 and 2 control cutoff and resonance. Knob 3 controls delay. The mod wheel controls the layer detune. The assignable pedal toggles a white noise percussion effect on about the lower half of the keyboard.

  23. How do you call up Hex Layer in midi?
  24. Hello As many of you would know, the XW-P1 hex layer feature is a great thing. Hear is an improv track I made using a super dirty hex layer+DSP setting. Love that Casio.

Version 2 of Shaneinated. Read below for details. The difference between this and the originated in Slider six now controls the piano volume (5 still the hex layer) snf some EQ fine tuning. I set this as a separate file as some may prefer to have the bell left on slider six. This is a Piano based on the ConcertD but heavily modified in the EQ area. I also has a Hex layer of pads and strings etc that can be modified with the sliders. I use this sound in Worship a very ethereal sound can be achieved with a bright Concert sounding Piano. I have gone to alot of trouble to mix this righ AS IS even though you can easily use the sliders to radically change it. Please note Slider 5 is very important. It controls the Hex layer as a whole in the mix so setting to zero youll get just the piano sound, All the way up youll get a strong mix of both. Sliders 1,2,3,4,and six control the volume elements of the HexLayer. If you have the Hexlayer volume up yet play without the use of the sustain pedal and play a little bit staccato the piano will come through strongly and the hexplayer pads will drop right back to being almost unnoticeable.
