Hello I see there are a lot of song-ready stage settings for the PX-5S, but not so for the XW-G1 😮 So, here's my take at making a song-ready performance/step sequence for the XW-G1 to make up for that imbalance. This my first attempt at doing so, and what you have here is perhaps a bit preliminary in the sense that it isn't complete. However, this is just the first "draft". If you like it, please tell me - and I might improve it at some point I have included 3 files in this upload: BILLIEJE.ZPF - Performance File BILLIEJ5.ZSS - Step Sequencer File and Billie Jean by Michael Jackson for Casio XW-G1.WAV - Sound Example (in the perfomance, the step sequence is placed in U: 2-2) (in the Sound Example I play the melody on my PX-5S) Cheers! 3. I've done an re-issue totally for the PX5S this time a song about the adventures in a far away galaxy where there is a world with surrounded by planets that world is as big as the moon Titan. But what is Ghorak-V really. Everything is done in song mode except the pad which I've used arpeggio on so its a full phrase / arpeggio song :D. I've got to learn more about song mode and programming special voices to use on it cause like XW-G1 once you get the hang of it, It turns into a sonic creative addiction XD. Used two drum tracks on this the mix isn't up to par the song isn't complete or done well but i've learned song mode for a change.
  4. Hello everyone, first time posting here for me: I own both an XWP1 and PX5S and am going to use them in tandem for a piece I have put together for Good Friday so I thought I would share how I am using both keyboards in conjunction with one another. PX5S: Concert Grand XWP1: 👉Performance mode Zone 1 drawbar organ - volume knob 1 Zone 2 voice ensemble - volume knob 2 Zone 3 strings ensemble - volume knob 3 Zone 4 Harp - volume knob 4 - connected to arpeggiator 👉Step Sequencer 6/8 Drum 1 - I have tweaked a few parts to match the feel of the song but mostly using to keep time as the piece is of a slow tempo. I have recorded the base of the piece (about a 3 minute loop) with the phrase sequencer and all four zones, creating a warm somber synth feel. Because I have all four voices connected to knobs 1-4 I can control each of the volumes within the piece in real time. I start with Zones 2 and 3 then add in Zone 1 (drawbar organ) also having control over the rotory button which makes for great texture. The big reveal is when I turn on the arpeggiator and then turn up knob 4 to bring in the harp. I have this sync'd with the step sequencer so that the timing is automatic. This adds yet another great layer to the piece. I am running the XWP1 into the PX5s and assigning an additional overall external volume control to one of the sliders then simply using the Concert Grand tone on the PX5S to play along to the phrase I have constructed. It is the most ambitious I have been yet in using the two keyboards together and it is a blast! OH - I'm going to attempt to fade the 6/8 shaker out by assigning it to one of the 8 parts and have each step velocity fade. It's the only way I can think of to create a fade. Any thoughts?
  5. I'm an Artist now in my own way why because I appreciate an instrument that takes me places. The XW-G1 is my go to inspiration keyboard what I do with it I've learned through the years. My thanks to all of you for this journey and here is the journey I want to take you in where it got me now. Enjoy

Sounds created to record and play with the Looper, They are also new sounds for the G1. This will get gradually filled up with more Performance sounds I've intentionally created to record loops with the looper but as I've later discovered the standard step sequence are great joy also for these patches. Hope you'll like some of them and be free to edit and make you're own from these.
  8. Is there any way to configure the XW-P1 so that I may switch between performance presets using an unlatched footswitch or a sustain pedal? Changing the preset via the + or - button is a little difficult while playing with both hands. I've checked the main settings in the P1 but I can't find a way to do so. Thank you!

  10. So I'm really addicted to my XW-G1 it learns me everything synth and I've rambled it at the beginning when I first had it you can do numerous things with each and every part from it lets recapitulate. The XW has. 1 : Performance mode 2 : Tone mode 3 : Step Sequencer 4 : Solo synthesizer 5 : DSP 6 : Phrase Sequencer 7 : Arpeggio 8 : Buttons Knobs and mod wheel. Those are powerful features up there which you can combine in various manners. One is triggering events like starting arpeggio , phrases manually or programming it so it starts a step sequence, Or have it modulate one of the parts while sculpting the sound using the Knobs or mod wheel. But I want to talk about the Solo-synth which is actually one of the few very powerful feature of the XW. Normally with the solo synth at first you think to create you're own sound something vintage like an Vangelis or a Moog sound which it does beautifully. Or in case of the G1 add new sampled waveform to broaden the sound spectrum or do something random by using NRPN to have all the oscillators accept noise to select waves at random creating narly new sounds (this one can be addictive ) . But did you know you can also do Oscillator Shaping alone with the solo synth. You might think what is that well its like assigning a wave to an oscillator and set the regular parameters for envelope filters etc like you would shape you're sound with how for it to modulate and sound like. Accept without the wave volume assigned to that oscillator. How you do that you might ask. Lets for example take a solo synth with lots of movement in it. I've chose on the XW-G1 P:086 Gaa-Gaa Saw select that. This principle also applies to the XW-P1. Then dive into it and turn the amp volume of all four oscillators down, Don't turn them off just set the volume completely to zero. Save this solo-synth with a new name like Shape or what you like. Now create a new Performance using this alternate solo synth on zone 1 but, before you do that (* I don't want to spoil the effect yet *) Assign for zone 2 to 3 tones and tune them to you're liking for a nice sound something like layering some pads together octave shift and fine tune them. Turn on the DSP on zone 2 and 3 (* later you can undo it in favor how the patch sound *). When you've done that add the solo-synth you've saved on zone one. Save the performance file, select the performance and play a chord. If done right you will notice zone 2 and 3 will gradually shape the way the solo-synth was made to do without sounding the solo-synth itself due to the DSP which shapes the sound while the envelope triggers. The preferred zones can be selected for the alternate shape by selecting which zone to be effected by the DSP. I've already made a few user patches with this methode and honestly its awesome, specially when using an edited Tone and DSP effect. Yet again endless possibility's discovered enjoy.

  12. Greetings for everyone. Ive just register my account, but I read may interesting things here. I'm at the beginning of my adventure with XW P1, everything for that moment is quite clear, but I met some troubles with assembling four knobs. I was looking here in forums, for answer but i can't find anything helpful... Manual didn't give me any easy solution, even difficult, so here are my questions: 1.Can I control a DSP effect by one (or more) of these knobs? For example I have drawbars on Zone 1 and piano on Zone 2 and I want to get some delay effect only on piano. Is it even possible? Ive already made a satysfing DSP effect, but i dont know how to add it for my Zone 2. I know it can be only one DSP for all Zones, so the problem is that the DSP "slot" is occupied by a rotary effect? How can i do it? Is PCM voices on both Zones will give me more possibilities than above configuration? 2. Could you give me some informations about the "Controller" editing in performance mode? When i get there, i can see a lot of "empty" Control Change "slots"? What it really means? I couldnt find it in this manual... Thanks for all replies, sorry for grammar mistakes, Have a nice day/night whereever you are XWP1 players

I noticed a performance list file that seemed popular on this site, so I thought I'd put up my list for keeping track of my XW-P1 User Performance List and PX-5S Stage Settings List. It's different from other lists I've seen, as I've changed the structure quite a bit from the original set. If you have 2 synths like me, it may come in handy if you edit this with your settings... especially if you have the XW and PX. Its an Excel file.
  14. Why when something not succeeding you get something totally else so I've left it as it is. Have two performance patches spacestation morefiction not exactly what I wanted its not tidy and Its sloppy very sloppy . here is how it sounds when I play with it I have not yet idea's but I played on zone 1 with the first seven solo synths and it sounds "to me" great XD.\ To lazy to name the files Br_005 is the patches I setup also for download for the XW-G1 T12V2_01 is the XW-G1 and the Korg Microstation this one was fun to do because its dreamy , I used the drums and pad sounds of the G1 and the aaah and the other strange aah lead sound from the microstation. 15. This is the latest configration and arragement for EDM live performances I am trying out: XW-G1, Kaossilator Pro, & Kaoss Pad. I really like it.
  16. I got an XW-G1, a demo unit from a Guitar Center store. As soon as I powered it up, I did a factory reset. Then I upgraded to firmware 1.11. After doing these things, I noticed that some of the built-in performances have step sequences, but those sequences are not playing when triggered by the keys (at the upper end of the keyboard). I think that when I did the factory reset, I deleted step sequence data in the keyboard. Is that correct? Or did I miss something else here?

  21. I have had my XW-G1 for 2 weeks now. I have figured out how to do everything for my EDM electronic dance music performances to replace my Kaossilator Pro and microSAMPLER. If I can figure out how to do vocals with a vocoder robot voice I can replace my Kaoss Pad. I have not had a chance to check this post out on this forum yet but it sounds like the XW-G1 has the ability to do a robot voice: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4483-tlkbxrobot/ Here is my EDM live jam video with the XW-G1 sampling:
