Here's a Hexlayer Tone called "SomethingNew" I did some time ago. It has a brassy (synth) kind of sound to it. Also, when you release the keys the sound is programmed to sort of talk back at ya If you use the stagesetting PLAYFULL.ZPF (instead) and you hard-press the keys in the lower keyboard range you'll hear an arpeggio. I included a sound demo (of the stagesetting) as well. Have fun with it. Jay 🎹
  2. Ciao from Italy Can someone help me to find (or create) the beautiful arpeggio of never ending story by G. Moroder on Px-5s?

A Stage Setting inspired by what was started during Live Clinic #2....although the final product went a different direction. Sliders 1-2 control filter for the pad. Knobs 1-4 control the sound of the arpeggiated part. Enjoy. Audio Demo: https://soundcloud.com/casiomusicgear/casio-px-5s-orbiting

NOTE: No voicebox sound that is used in song intro was attempted here. Octave 6: Arpeggio 16th notes (you must be play it though). The envelopes cuts off the notes quickly to get that mechanical arpeggiated sound, and it's also easier to play well. Octave 5: Polysynth quasi brass shots. Octave 3: String-Voicy, used for chords in middle verses.
  5. These questions are all about.. (wait for it!) ... timing! In a 4/4 song, imagine a 4-beat (1 bar) bass phrase, transposable, played by zone 1 keys, looping. If I release a C key in zone 1 and play an F in zone 1, - when does the transposition happen? immediately? quantized to a quarter note? - when does the phrase retrigger (start over at the beginning)? quantized to the next "beat 1" (start of new bar)? What if I play the new note ahead of the beat, or behind the beat? Does that get the phrase onto the wrong quarter note? Or off the beat entirely? Is there a stage setting with such a setup? Are these answers in the documentation somewhere? These questions are based on an (imagined ?) model where the phrase always finishes (all 4 beats) once it starts, it always starts on beat 1, it can transpose mid-phrase (possibly with some quantization restrictions), and can tolerate some amount of timing slop on the part of the player. Whew! Still reading? Thanks!

Hello, this is my first FX creation. It reproduces the sound of the wind. Load the HEX LAYER into User 50 Load the WIND arpeggio into position 100 Load the WIND WHISTLE arpeggio into position 101 Load the Stage Setting ZONE 1 Disable ZONE 2 Use S2 to play with the whistle. Use S3 to play with tempo. ZONE 2 (initially disabled) Disable ZONE 1 Use S1 to play with the wind intensity. Use S3 to play with tempo. Try also to disable the ARPEGGIO and play with S1 and S2. 8. I have written an arpeggio that uses block chords for songs like Hold The Line and Runaway using arpeggio #044 8 beat and 045 12/8.. Some of the chords are played louder than the others. If I turn down velocity, I loose volume. How can I adjust so that each chord is equal volume? Thank you.
  9. Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out if the XW-G1 can do polyphonic arpeggios. It's a little hard to describe what I mean in text. Please bear with me while I try to explain... I've been using an SL-20 slicer with my keyboard. It takes a note and breaks it into smaller ones. For example, it might turn a whole note held on the keyboard into a series of 8th notes. Some patterns also feature transposition. So a single held note (say a C) would become a sequence of C1, C2, C1, C2, etc. The really cool thing about it is that it's also polyphonic. So if I held down say C and E at the same time, I could get C1/E1, C2/E2, C1/E1, C2/E2, etc. The C and E notes would play at the same time. So I'm looking for something just like that, except programmable. Is there any way to do that on the XW-G1? The manual says mentions the "Note" arpeggio type. It says the following: "Shifts the notes produced by shifting the semitones in steps." Does that mean that you can hold multiple notes and have it play a transposed pattern of all of them symultaneously (as in, you'll hear the full chord at once with it changing all the notes for each step), or does this only do one pressed note at a time? Also, can you program that pattern? Thanks for your help.

I've probably spent more time on this Stage Setting than any other. This is a 4 zone Stage Setting set up as follows: Zone1: Strings Zone2: Pad Zone3: Synth Arp Zone4: Piano Sliders 1-4 correspond to volume of each of those. It starts with the volume of zones 1-3 set to 0. Slider 5 is a wonderful stereo panning delay for the piano part. What makes this Stage Setting different is the way each of the parts are voiced. This Stage Setting is "radio ready" or performance ready in that it utilizes a narrow amplitude dynamic range while still remaining remarkably expressive. Pedal 2 is an essential element of this Stage Setting as it is set up to toggle the filter. This allows this Stage Setting to breath. This is an especially unique and powerful aspect of the PX-5S. Enjoy.

  14. Hell all! Yes - I am having lots of fun w/my 7600. Actually looking forward to checking out the new model although its not a 76. I'm hoping that next year's NAMM brings a 76 also with a beefier casing. I keep feeling like the plastic is going to crack everytime I move it!!! Anyway - here's my latest quandary: I'm trying to duplicate a kind of loop or repeating pattern as found in Hella Good. I can't find an arpeggiated pattern that works. Can I create one by editing an existing rhythm or do I record a sequence. I have a looper and I'm thinking of just putting it on that but the keyboard would be easier access. I'm not familiar w/sequencing and have spent hours learning this keyboard so I'm hoping for an easy fix. I was able to create a user dsp, user rhythm, split, and registration all of which were utilized in Blondie's "Heart of Glass". I am really proud of that only having the keyboard for about 2 months. Anyway - enough patting myself on the back! Basically, I would like to hold down one note and have it play a repeated rhythm that is note note down, note note down, over and over. Thank you!
  15. I am trying to understand how to set the arpeggio function to only play certain keys, I want to set the bottom half of the PX5S keys to use the arpeggio function and can't seem to figure this out. I have held down the arpeggio button and went to those settings but I can't find anywhere to set the parameter for only a certain section of keys. Thank you
  16. You've probably noticed that PCM tone parameters only take effect at note-on, meaning that you can't easily do live filter sweeps in a performance without routing through the solo synth filter. I'm thinking of a one-step arpeggio that does nothing except retrigger the keys – Max Step = 1, P5 type, for maximum polyphony, with zero note and velocity settings, and 100% note length. Applying a pad envelope (longer attack and release) greatly reduces the note-on stutter and even makes it completely disappear in some cases. With this arpeggio, effects like filter sweeps and panning are possible in near real-time, even in Tone Mode. (Many of the preset arpeggios like Up will allow this for single notes, but a P5 type works with chords.)
  17. Where playing with the G1 and combined the sound of several performance patches(available for download) I got a nice vibe with arpeggio's , DSP and EQ all the patches have nice stereo imaging to the total sound, Wish to have done it in a DAW to clean it up but it proofs anything can be done on the synth alone, first kept layering the drums and other stuff got a nice loop and finished it off with Horn tone using a performance patch where which with EQ reverb and chorus. Think I've gradually mastered the G1 to a point get out of it what I want that what I like about this synthesizer. Main 9'nth east street.MP3

10-pack of arpeggiated string Stage Settings. Experiment with different chord voicings; but most work best by simply holding a 3-4 note chord with the right hand, and a single bass note with the left. Run through various chord progressions and let Motion Strings do all the work. Audio demos will be added soon. Experiment and have fun!
