  1. Hello, I am a new member of this forum. I have looked for section for the CDPs but as there is not I have followed others by posting in this section. Apologies in advance if I have missed any of the site's rules. I recently bought a CDP-230R online and have been very pleased with the overall quality of the product at the price tag. However I have an issue with the LCD display, with is very very difficult to see from almost any angle or distance. I understand that is typical of LCDs however the Contrast settings don't seem to do any change at all and that has lead me to think it might be faulty. Of the 17 levels of contrast, all of them make the LCD look exactly the same. The vendor is trying to convince me that this is normal and there is nothing wrong with the piano. But I ask myself why would have Casio offered that setting if it doesn't change anything? I have no access to any other CDP-230R to compare so I would appreciate if you could share with me your experience. Best regards
  2. I've recently purchased a CDP230R keyboard in readiness for my upcoming retirement. I've spent the last couple of weeks working my through its features and am having great fun. One thing I cannot find is a quick way of switching voices during a performance without having to type in the 3-digit tone number. Is there a way of storing 2 or more tones and switching between them quickly. Many years ago I used to play, demonstrate and sell Electronic Organs and it was easy to just flick a tab or push a button to change voices. I hope somebody can point me in the right direction. Many thanks
  3. I find that sometimes the accompaniment interprets keys as the incorrect chords, e.g. G-B-Eflat plays as Gaug instead of Eflatdim. I have tried changing the Chords betwee F1, F2, F3 but that doesn't help. I don't play using CC or FRC. Any idea how to 'fix' this, other than releaning the fingering?
  4. I loaded a custom midi into my CDP-230R using data manager. The problem is when I hit the rewind button it always goes back to the start of the midi instead of back one measure. Anyone know how I can fix this?
  5. I recently bought a second hand CDP-230R and found something does not sound right: There is a rare aka-bell sound that sounds only on three keys in piano tones. The problem indeed occurs with several tones, actually it happens almost in all Piano-related tones. I did an extensive research and found something really weird: The issue is not consistent, it means the rare bell sounds changes between close-by keys when the tone changes but without a pattern. Let me explain with some examples: With tone 001, The rare bell sounds occur in Ab, A and Bb (as I mentioned before, close to the middle C) With tone 006, The rare bell sounds occur in G, Ab and A With tone 007, The rare bell sounds occur in B, Bb and C If I use the transpose function, the bell sound moves up and down, but if I use the pitch bend weel it does not move. I already restored to factory settings but the same. I contacted Casio Support and told me: "This is a natural part of the sound, originating from the piano that was sampled to create the sound. Therefore, it would be reproduced the same way on all CDP-230R units.".."What you are hearing are some subtle harmonic overtones, which were present in the original piano that was sampled to create the tones. They are a normal part of the sample, so there is no need for concern." The question for the forum are: Have you ear the same issue in your CDP-230R? The issue in my piano is affecting my performance because the sub-harmonics make a big distortion playing alone. Is there a way to re-map piano sounds? I upload a recorded video sample to illustrate this issue. Thanks a lot 001 Ab-A-Bb.mp4
  6. Hi, I have recently bought a CDP-230R piano. I hooked it up with my Macbook pro via USB and was able to play software instruments in Apple Garageband successfully. I was wondering can I use CDP-230R's stop/play/FF/Rewind buttons or sustain pedal as a MIDI controller to control Garageband's transport control? I have no previous experience in MIDI, so I couldn't understand the MIDI implementation chart included in the manual. I attached the chart here. Any help on this subject would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
