  1. Any help on this please? I want to connect a CASIO S1000V to Logic Pro on my DAW where the is S0000V as an 'external instrument' on LP. Then using MIDI simultaneously record two tones/sounds from the S1000V (when it is in layer mode) to two tracks on LP. Something like this in parallel: Instrument A on S1000V --> LP Track 1 Lyrics B on S1000V --> LP Track 2 To record and then play back via MIDI From watching the demos this seems possible but I am not sure how to do it in terms of the MIDI settings. Do I need to set the MIDI settings on the LP? On the S1000V? Or both? A simple example of what those settings might be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  2. Good evening guys. I am a music producer/beatmaker, born as a guitarist, who learned piano self-taught over the years. I enjoyed playing pianos and e-pianos on my long time Casio - CDP 100, while I used a cheap but effective MIDI controller for general DAW control, pads, drums, etc. Unfortunately, since I left my country and all my stuff in my parents' house, I won't be able to have these two pieces of equipment with me. I was looking for a convenient solution that could give me both a digital piano with good sounds and a midi controller (also because my flat is tiny). After browsing the web and shops in my city, I found the new CT-S400 to be the sweet spot between my budget/quality of sounds/keybed feel and playability. I was happy to see that it could also work efficiently as a MIDI controller. One thing I wasn't able to verify though, was its MIDI/SySex implementation for DAW control and clock, mostly transport controls (play, stop and record from within the DAW). They were quite essential for my workflow, and the lack of it could actually be a dealbreaker. Does any possessor or Casio expert know more about this? During my research I found out that the CT-S500 has something like that only for play/stop commands, but I am not sure if it could be worth, at least for me, to spend +100 € more, to have just part of these function. Thank you for reading this message and I wish you a great night. Pietro
  3. In case anyone is interested, I uploaded a Reaper DAW patch script in the Downloads page (Downloads-->Other Casio Products-->Casio CT-S1 Patch Script for Reaper DAW). I couldn't find a CT-S1 section in the Download page, so I thought I'd post it here too since it is somewhat hidden.

I created a Reaper DAW patch script for the Casio CT-S1. You can upload the patch script in Reaper and then select GM sounds, CT-S1 sounds, and even a standard drum kit to use! If you use a different DAW, I think you should be able to tweak the file to a format that your DAW can read. Enjoy.

You can load this .reabank file in the Reaper DAW track's "Bank/Program Select" section or through the Track FX window to select PX-560 tones. This is my first attempt at creating a patch script file for the PX-560. I found a PX-5S patch script and used it as an example. I used the Casio PX-560 Appendix document as a reference to find the tone numbers (Bank Select MSB [5] and Program Change [4]) to use. I used "0" after every bank number and before the bank description. I have not added all the sounds to the file because it is a painstaking process since the tone numbers are not sequential and don't seem to follow any pattern (unlike the tones in the PX-5S which seem to follow a more logically grouped pattern). The .reabank file is just a simple text file, so you can modify this file to add other tones. If you are interested in doing this, hopefully you can figure it out by looking at the file and Appendix. It was a challenge to figure out how to group the tones, so I just ended up grouping them by banks (each bank can have a mix of tones) and naming them as best as I could. If you know of a better way of organizing the tones or creating a patch script, please share. Reaper PX-560 patch script.reabank
  6. I am slowly learning how to use Reaper DAW with the PX-560. At first I wasn't sure if you could easily do this, but now I see it is possible and opens some exciting new options for me. I noticed there are patch scripts available for download from Casio: Since I could not find a patch script for Reaper yet, I did some research and finally figured out how to create my own .reabank file. It works fairly well, but it takes a while to create the file since the sound program and bank select numbers are not sequential in the Appendix manual. Has anyone come across an existing patch script for the PX-560 or know if one is coming from Casio? If not, any suggestions on an efficient way to create the .reabank file? Thanks.
  7. This one has me completely stumped - I use my PX-5S as a controller and live instrument. The internal sounds are functioning great. I've got plenty of velocity curve to play with and can produce quite expressive sounds on a slightly tweaked Concert Piano Stage Setting. However, I've recently noticed that the sounds produce by PropellerHead Reason (some synths and a few pianos) feel muffled and muted as compared to when I use a different controller. And, oddly, when I hold down the sustain pedal, the sounds in Reason return to being clear, bright, and significantly louder. Here's what I've tried: 1. I tried numerous different custom and purchased patches in Reason. They are all exhibiting this problem. Therefore, I think it's the PX-5S. 2. I've tried a number of different stage settings on the PX-5S to see if it was something I accidentally triggered - nope. It occurs on a lot of them, even ones I didn't build or fiddle with. 3. I've tried different USB cables. Still does this. 4. I've disabled the internal sounds (local control) on the PX-5S. Didn't help. 5. I've disabled High Resolution Output. Didn't help. Other than my PX-5S is malfuntioning, any ideas guys? I can still use it to control Synths and Pads, as they are much easier to control with longer attacks, but this problem has made playing a midi piano of any kind impossible. Thanks in advance.

  9. I'd like to control the PX-780 from Cubase (which is a computer DAW sequencer similar to Sonar or Cakewalk). That would be much easier if I could find a patchname script file (.txt) or an instrument definitions file (.ins file) for the PX-780. Does anyone know where I can find such a file for the PX-780? (I assume the file for a PX-350 would be similar.) If a patch script file is available, I would be much more likely to buy a PX-780, instead of a Roland, Yamaha, or Korg keyboard. Thanks. 10. Beside a few other stuff I hope the next XW would have an audio-interface through the usb that connect for a daw.
  11. I've been looking at options to have a quality live recording of audio from the PX-5S appear in a DAW, like Garage Band or Logic Pro X. This will be connected to a Macbook Pro Retina, if it matters. Has anyone looked into the Presonus Audiobox iTwo? It sounds, no pun intended, like it's up to the job, but I haven't found any reference to people using it with a keyboard. Unbundled, it can be found for about $160 US on Amazon. One review: http://en.audiofanzine.com/external-audio-interface/presonus/audiobox-itwo/editorial/reviews/mac-pc-or-ios-this-interface-has-you-covered.html Downloads: http://www.presonus.com/support/downloads/AudioBox-iTwo-Studio Two concerns: - Can it accept the line outs from the PX-5S (TRS vs)? - Does it only work with the Presonus DAW (includes the crippled 'Artists' version)? Ideally you connect the MIDI input/output and the line output from the PX-5S to the unit, USB to the computer, the output connects to your speakers, and everything plays nicely together. Has anyone tried it? Thanks. Peter
  12. Hey guys, I've been using the XW-G1 as a midi controller for the past couple years and can't ever seem to map the sliders inside my DAW (FL Studio)? The pitchbend, start/stop, K1 and K2 knob buttons all work, but not the sliders... Can anyone explain why this is and if there's a way to make it happen. Thanks
  13. Hello everybody and thank you so much for every precious information you shared. I bought my px-5s a few months ago and I must confess I finally realized a dream since I was a teenager while I studied piano, but I would never hoped to possess a such jewel !!! Now I really feel like an enthusiastic teenager and I'm "re"-moving my first steps into a daw e midi recording after so many years... Sorry for the due intro, the question now: is it possible to record by the sequencer into my daw the only trigger notes without generate hundreds of midi events when arpeggiator is ON ? I would like to record an hexlayer sound with arpeggiator into audio track coming from the line out of the PX-5S, but record also the midi track so to possibly revise the notes I play. I read it is possible with Yamaha Motif by setting "Main ARP ON/OFF Switch = ON". Thanks in advance Tarcisio
  14. Hello My name is Nikolaj and I'm new to this forum. I am very seriously considering purchasing the PX-5S, but I just have one question. I am a Pro Tools user and I am curious if I will be able to use the sounds of the keyboard within this DAW?? To clarify: I am aware that I will be able to record it as audio, but that's not really what I'm looking for since I would like to have the ability to quantize, remove wrong notes, change melody and stuff like that after I record it. And change tempo... I think I have made myself clear, and I hope that someone will be able to answer Have a good day! Regards Nikolaj
  15. Hi, I'm sorry, if I have overlooked the answer here in the forum, but I have the following problem: I want to MIDI record the Solo Synth to a DAW together with the real-time manipulation (with the knobs 1-4). If I play a note, there is a MIDI signal being sent to the PC with the DAW, but the use of the knobs (e.g. "Cutoff" with knob 1) does not send any MIDI signal to the PC. And I checked any MIDI setting I could find, but no success. Any idea? Thank you in advance. reuel
  16. Hi, I have a problem using the PX5S with cubase. I loaded the instrument in the MIDI devices and everything works fine, but I have problems with the drum kits. If I select any drum kit (on channel 1 or 5-16), on PX5S instead of battery it is selected a synth. Where am I wrong? Thanks for the advice. Roberto
  17. Hey all, proud new owner of a PX-5S here with a very simple question. I'm new to the world of midi (controlling virtual instruments in my DAW (Logic) is simple enough), and I'd like the ability to record the sounds of the PX-5S onto the DAW. I'm thinking I need more than a USB cable to do this. So I've started looking at MIDI interfaces. Would a MOTU midi express serve this purpose sufficiently? Bonus question: are there midi interfaces that perform more functions than a MOTU midi express that I may consider?
  18. Hi ... When recording MIDI from PX5S, Protools records two MIDI notes stacked..... one note being very short, the one below it is the length of note held. It is messing things up when editting. What about all that? Thank you so for any helps. b.
