  1. Hello everyone, I own a PX-730 digital piano whose sustain pedal suffered irreparable damage. I have taken the assembly off the support and found that the plastic frame which supports the pedal hinge broke off. Therefore it will be necessary to replace the whole assembly. However the part (Casio part no. 91087002040) is listed as "discontinued", therefore I am having trouble finding a replacement. I saw several pedal sets for sale on eBay (Casio SP33) which look similar to the one I have on my piano, and I'm wondering whether it could be possible to remove the pedal assembly from the SP33 and fit it in my piano, and if it will work. Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks to everyone in advance for your help. Arturo.
  2. Hi I bought a CGP 700 series piano that I use to gig with. The sustain pedals, I have 2, the one that came with the unit and the one I have used for years, an M series. On every keyboard I have ever had when using the sustain pedal the sound has faded, this keyboard does not. The sound stays at one level and when you release the pedal it cuts off abruptly. Is there a work around to this? If not I will have to return this keyboard. These pedals are single pedal units, It sustains and fades with just voice one ,piano, but if i add a second voice such as strings it will not fade.
  3. So, I've been looking for a keyboard which I could use mostly as a controller for VSTs, also having a good piano-like action. The amount of products catering to this notion seems to be quite little, and I've eventually narrowed it down between the Roland A-88 and the Privia PX-5S (I've also previously considered the Komplete Kontrol S88, which have some really cool features and design, but apparently the touch strips [modulation, pitch] aren't too comfortable and the Fatar action isn't that great), and the Privia PX-5S is usually quoted as having the better hammer action (I'm less interested about the internal sounds, to be honest). I wasn't able to actually test any of these (and my piano skills are currently so-so anyway), and as I'll be ordering it from abroad I really want to get the purchase right. The primitive pedal inputs of the PX-5S seem to be constricting, and I guess I'll need to buy a pedal-to-MIDI adapter (as there are very little MIDI-exporting pedals out there) like the Audiofront MIDI Expression. Now, I want to make a pedal set that includes a soft/sostenuto/half damper and an expression pedal. The soft and sostenuto send on/off messages, so I assume the PX-5S's two inputs should be able to recognize them, but could I program it so? The half damper/expression pedal would go into the PC (if I'll get the Audiofront product; it outputs over USB and I believe the PX-5S can't receive MIDI over USB [or does it?]). Instead of buying tons of separate pedals, I prefer finding a 3-pedal unit from which I could attach the two on/off ones directly to the PX-5S and the half damper to the adapter, and a separate expression pedal in addition. Is there such a unit compatible with the PX-5S? I couldn't find any. And how weird does it feel using a continuous half damper pedal as an expression pedal? Audiofront offers a $49 single-input adapter and then a $119 quad-input one; it's quite expensive, so if I'll get the single one I won't use the half damper AND the expression pedal simultaneously anyway. Thanks in advance.
  4. Have had my PX 560 for a couple of weeks now. Am trying to configure it to switch Upper 2 on when I press the assignable expression pedal. I plugged the pedal that came with the Casio into the assignable pedal socket. Calibrated it. Then set it to control Upper 2 on/off. Default seems to be on and I have to press the pedal to turn off Upper 2. I found a work around which is to tell the instrument that it has a foot switch attached rather than an expression pedal. Then works fine. I tried setting the pedal to expression pedal and the target as expression but same problem. What I want is to have the piano on Upper 1 and then to bring Upper 2 in with the expression pedal. I have set the Mod wheel to Upper 2 volume and that works a treat. Am I doing something wrong?
  5. Hello there everybody, I apologise sincerely if I am posting this in the wrong section, this is my first time using the forums! I have a model Px 730 casio digital piano and I have been very happy with it for a few years, however my pedal unit for it recently broke (beyond repair), and I am looking to buy a new replacement unit or even a single sustain pedal for this model. I've contacted casio to enquire about a replacement but the individual I spoke to has informed they no longer produce the pedals specifically for this model. So is there any chance anybody knows where or how I can find a replacement pedal unit? It does not have to be brand new (and I don't expect it to be), but any suggestions are very welcome as my individual searches have resulted in me finding nothing. thanks in advance.
  6. What functions can be assigned to the pedals on the Casio SP-33 3 pedal unit (connected to a PX-560)? The out-of-the-box functions are damper/half-damper, soft and sostenuto. But can I assign other functions to the SP-33 pedals? I want to use one of the SP-33 pedals as a continuous expression pedal to control effects and so on. Is that possible? Or do I need to use an extra pedal connected to "assignable pedal" jack on the back of the unit to do that (manual page EN-10)? I was expecting the SP-33 pedals to be fully configurable and to be able to use them to actually replace the function of the "assignable pedal", but I have found no clear instructions on the manual about this.
