Hugh O Kelly
Is there a smaller Casio that has the same synth sounds as the Px5s or better?
Display Name
MZ-X500, MZ-X300 or XW-P1 would be closest, in that order. All do hex-layers and use many of the same tones that make up the PX-5S synth sounds.

Hugh O Kelly
Do they have the VA synth sounds and the overdriven guitar sounds?

And I would give the edge to the MZ-X300/500 on these, mainly because the digital effects will add a lot more "life" to them. The MZ-X500 also has some really nice classic synth bass sounds. Add in the arranger functions and the drawbar organ sim, and the MZ-X500 makes a very nice compliment to the PX-55/560.
Brad Saucier
Best one to match or surpass the PX-5S is the MZ-X500. The MZ-X300 does not have hex layers.

Wow - lots of difference between the MZ-X500 and 300. BTW- How is the bass synth on the 500 Brad?
Brad Saucier
The bass synth is incredible. They packed some really beefy rich sounds in there. I need to explore that more. There is so much ground to cover in the MZX500.

Brad Saucier
Since y'all ask'ed, I am experimenting with a EDM track that uses two bass synth tones (one as lead), a preset drum pattern, pad phrase and arpeggio pattern. It's a short piece so far.
