Happy Returns (of unsuitable items)?

Recommended Posts

Imaginary case:   Took delivery of a brand new Keyboard X,  tried it for couple of weeks, didn't like it, decided to return it.

Some on-line dealers offer this kind of unconditional Return, typically 10 or 14 days, but sometimes longer, some

      shorter term.

'Buyer must pay return postage' is typical, but have also seen 'free returns' where  the seller even collects the Returns from you.  Maybe some dealers have no unconditional Return policy at all,  apart from the short, statuary 'cooling off' period, (if your country has one).

What precautionary steps do other members suggest to keep any Returns trouble-free?   I have made a couple of suggestions

of my own to start:

       *  When taking delivery of your new keyboard, before signing for it, check ALL sides of the box for damage, and even for slight

dents, insist on adding note of the damage to courier's docket.  Also, take photo of any visible damage to box and send copy same day to retailer just in case of your needing to make a Return.

    *  When unboxing a new keyboard, take photos as you unpack, pay attention to placement of the manual, PSU placement etc.

   *  Make a temporary screen protector,  (even to overlay any existing screen protector), as screens are easy to scratch, and if you scratch it - you've bought it!

  *  Take care with wiping dust from keyboard, as some black surfaces are prone to microscopic scratches.

  *  Make allowance for postal strikes, bank holidays, sickness, and factor in those possibilities into your allowed Return period. Better to return it a few days before the full allowed Return period.

On the other hand, you might change your mind and decide to keep it. :)
