AlenK
http://www.keyboardmag.com/gear/1183/review-casio-mz-x500/59221 It would seem that Fortner didn't try editing a Hex Layer or Bass Synth tone because he mistakenly claims that the MZ-X500 doesn't allow "oscillator editing," by which I believe he means selection of oscillator waveforms. Joe Muscara
But he gave it a Key Buy award!
Brad Saucier
Also of note: His review was published a few days before V1.31 firmware was released and the day before the MZX sample manager application. I think it's very important to add mention of the 256mb sample expansion memory in the MZ-X500. That allows new tones to be created and loaded in. Tones with entirely new sample content that can sound every bit as good as or better than factory sounds.
