Brunner
Does the Mic input provides phantom power for a condenser mic?
Brad Saucier
It does not. I would use a small mixer for that.
Jokeyman123
There are also several small mic input/output boxes that specifically provide phantom power. I used an "Art Tube" interface for awhile which are pretty common on eBay and elsewhere but there are others. Or as Brad said, a small mixer. Many digital recorders also provide phantom power-my Zoom MRS8 has 2 xlr mic ins with switchable phantom power, as do several of the Tascam DP portable recorders.such as the DP-008. (Sorry Brad for lurking, I'm an inveterate lurker I'm afraid!)
Brunner
Thank you for the responses. Now, I just need to convince my better half that I need the mz-x500.
Brad Saucier
Tell her it has a flux capacitor for time travel and makes waffles.
