billygoat1
Hello, Just started with a new WK-6600, need to learn how to set or change Banks and tones in Windows sequencer (eg, Mixcraft, Cubase). My sequencers call for MSB or LSB along with tone names/numbers. I can't figure out how to use the info provided in the WK 6600 Appendix. Any help will be appreciated!! - T -
The MSB (Most Significant Bit) and LSB (Least Significant Bit) are for selecting "banks" of tones within a MIDI keyboard or tone module, while the PC (Program Change) code is for selecting a specific tone within any selected "bank". Each MIDI track in your sequencer software should have a data entry field for each of these codes. The Casio CTK/WK-6XXX/7XXX models do not use LSB, so you can enter "0" for LSB in each MIDI track of your sequencer. In the "Tones" section of the WK-6600 Appendix, Column 4 lists the Program Change (PC) code for each tone, while Column 5 lists the MSB, so an LSB of 0, MSB of 3, and PC of 1 would select the Rock Piano tone for that track while an LSB of 0, MSB of 5, and PC of 0 would select a Mellow Piano tone, and so forth. You can enter this data manually, for each track, into your sequencer software or you can try to obtain, or design your own, WK-6600 "Instrument Definition File" for your sequencer software, so that you can select and enter this data automatically with a simple mouse click from a regular text list of WK-6600 Tone names.
