SteveH
We borrowed this keyboard from a neighbour, who hasn't used it for a while. a few of the black keys need hitting pretty hard to get them to sound, and in fact they are a bit low (depressed) (photo below) I'm wondering if I dare disassemble it and fix it - what is the problem likely to be and any other advice would be great thanks? Joe Muscara
That would be up to you. There have been some threads around here about disassembling some other models, I would imagine this would be similar. If parts are worn, I don't know if replacements are available. OTOH, if things in there are just gummed up, maybe all it needs is a good cleaning.
Priviamania
As a rank amateur, I'd advise you to take it to a professional for a look. I managed to fix my PX-100 (120?), but couldn't get it properly back together to save my life. Things (prolly nuts/bolts) rattled around inside when it was moved thereafter. Admittedly, getting a fix can be tricky. The Casio dealer in my town, a long-established independent music store, had hired a great tech but he ran the other way from my request. On a later Casio I've just been able to get a great fix in a nearby bigger city. Long-established two-store chain with Christian aura has an old duffer that's been fixing for them for 38 years. It's good to see a thread on a relatively low-numbered Privia. I believe in 'em..... as long as they have dedicated buttons for sounds 😉
SteveH
Thanks for the help. In fact we gave up and got a new one (it's my daughter who is learning, doing nicely)
