trancedelicbluesman
I've only had my XW a little while but I can't seem to find any snare drums (or high hats for that matter) in any of the factory drum kits. Am I just missing them? What gives? I'm not averse to creating my own drum kits but I would have thought the factory kits would be more useful. AlenK
Have you downloaded the Appendix document? If you bought the board new a paper copy would have also been included in the box. It lists all of the instruments used in the drum kits (which Casio calls drum sets). Snares and high hats are definitely there and at least in the Standard Set 1 use the General MIDI note assignments, as do most of the instruments in that kit. Personally, I think the drum kits and the instruments in the kits are one of the XW-P1's strengths. (There are even more drum-kit instruments in the XW-G1.) On the whole to my ears they sound pretty decent and there's good diversity. No, you can't edit the instruments in any meaningful way but you can make your own kits that can include velocity switching on individual keys for a more "acoustic" response if you want to play a kit live.
