Recording multiple tracks on Casio 7200 (easy rec)

The following discussion applies solely to the Song Sequencer of the CTK-7200.  It in no way applies to the Pattern Sequencer, which is a looping recorder for the purpose of creating User Rhythms.  The CTK-7200 Song Sequencer is a 17 track linear sequencer.  These are 17 "real" hardware tracks, but Track 17 (aka the "System Track") is unique in the sense that it contains 16 "virtual" tracks.  So, it is essentially a 32 track "hybrid" sequencer - 16 "real" tracks and 16 "virtual" tracks.  The 16 "virtual" tracks are accessed as Tracks A01 through A16 via the Easy Record procedure described on Page 68 of the manual.  These tracks provide for the recording of the UPPER-1 (Main), UPPER-2 (Layer), and LOWER (Split) tones, as well as all facets of the Auto-accompaniment feature.  See the chart in the right hand column of Page 70 for track/part assignments.  These assignments are a function of the CTK-7200's operating system, and can not be changed.  During the Easy Record process, all 16 virtual "A" Tracks are recorded simultaneously in a single pass.  Once recorded, limited edits can be applied, as necessary, but no additional "A" Track (System Track) data can be added.  Easy Record is an "erase as it records" process, so any attempt to use it to add data to the "A" Tracks will result in total erasure of all previously recorded data - that is, the entire System Track - all 16 virtual "A" Tracks.  Additional performance data can be safely recorded, track-at-a-time, to "real" Tracks B01 through B16 using the "Recording Individual Tracks" procedure, beginning on Page 72.  Which of the above methods you use is determined by the type of performance you intend to record.  If you intend for your performance to include Auto-accompaniment, you must record that to the "A" Tracks first with the Easy Record method, then add any additional performance data to the "B" Tracks with the Individual Tracks method.  If you do not intend to use Auto-accompaniment, you can record your entire performance a track at a time to the "B" Tracks entirely with the Individual Tracks method.  You can also leave the Auto-accompaniment turned off and record just your initial keyboard part to the "A" Tracks with the Easy Record method, then add any additional tracks to the "B" Tracks with the Individual Tracks method.  Just don't try to add anything with the Easy Record method, or you will lose any previous data that was recorded with the Easy Record method.  In any recording session, Easy Record is a "one-shot" deal.

The virtual "A" Tracks and real "B" Tracks discussed above have a one-for-one correspondence with the 32 Mixer Channels.  Tracks A01 through A16 connect, one-for-one, to Mixer Channels A01 through A16, and Tracks B01 through B16 connect, one-for-one to Mixer Channels B01 through B16.

I too am looking for an easy how to record 1 track at a time description, as the manual does this more words is better, and it is not, lol. plus the interface to record should of been different, as it should of almost just been like a recorder by itself with play, stop and record features.

I just created a new thread. please keep an eye on it Louis. just remember, never use easy record because that erases over everything you do each project/record at a time. when you hit song sequencer, that will put you in the regular record mode. then the arrows on the function section move you track to track. got that , but I can't delete already recorded stuff. as someone, maybe you, said, the manual is written like chinese to english. vague. AND the info about recording is spread out over different pages. and they keep going back easy record. that is not the recording feature to use. ever. we'll figure it out
