gfmucci
Given that the LK-280 that I'm interested in does not have a back lighted display and is hard to read in a dimly lit room, I have this question for users: Is there an external light, perhaps a clip on or other close-proximity light that is inexpensive that you use and find effective in illuminating the display? What kind of light works best for you. Darn, I just sold a couple of battery operated music stand lights. Those would probably work well for this application. Here's one: https://www.amazon.com/Kootek-Orchestra-Adjustable-Reading-Rechargeable/dp/B014F1UKI6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1514339147&sr=8-4&keywords=music+stand+lights+battery+operated This one is $19 but slightly lesser ones start at around $8. - T -
If the one in the link you posted is too big, too cumbersome, or too heavy to be useful, check Amazon again. They have a couple of single light units that are a lot smaller and lighter that could be Velcro'd to the LK-280's front panel. One has a single incandescent bulb on a goose neck that goes for around $9 USD and the other has a single LED element that goes for around $8 USD. The LED would give longer battery life, but if it is not a super bright unit, you would probably need two to give enough illumination, and now you are back to cumbersome. The challenge will be doing it without causing so much glare on the display's glossy cover that the LCD becomes unreadable. That is the problem I have usually run into when trying to light non-backlit LCD mini-displays on keyboards, calculators, printers, etc. So, you may have to do some experimenting. gfmucci
This is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XAD9VDG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I will use it without batteries to reduce the weight. It can run off of AC w/o batteries. I'm hopeful that if I angle the light from the side it will minimize the glare on the display. Trial and error. gfmucci
Yup. This light works great. I have it mounted on the lower side of the music stand. No excess weight, and no glare.
mike71
https://www.lidl.de/de/livarno-lux-led-klemmspot/p257647 I've found useful these clam-on lamp sold sometimes at LIDL, it's never the same exact model. They provide a diffused illumination that I find that is illuminating sheets and displays better than IKEA ones http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/lighting/work-lamps/jansjö-led-wall-clamp-spotlight-black-art-40386316/
Jokeyman123
I have a whole bunch of these.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Flexible-2-Dual-Duet-Arms-Clip-on-4-LED-Piano-Music-Stand-Book-Light-Lamp/111973487672?epid=1139234936&hash=item1a1223d438:g:D7IAAOSw0exZ6ZX~ The light is a little more focused than the wider one I see posted here which looks good too. With the dual configuration I am able to see every display-I also use these a mixing board lights and music lead sheets. There are single light versions of these all over eBoopy but I like the dual version since I can angle these on either side of a screen for less glare. I use these on a QY100 and the RM1X/MC505 in dark environments to see the controls and with a microkontrol for the same reason. if you get the new 1.6V AAA and AA batteries-the lights are even brighter since you are pushing a little more voltage throught the LED. I haven't had any burn out this way. These are also available on eBoodle and are called NIZN batteries. Need their own dedicated chargers but I now use these with almost everything.
