Is it legal to use that file in a sampler such as Kontakt5 and then create a vst file from it, in this case it would be a Kontakt .nki file when processed.?? AlenK Posted January 10, 2018 Share Posted January 10, 2018 I think (and this is just an opinion from someone with no legal training) you would only get in trouble if you tried to sell the vst as a product. But if it turns out that you are technically not allowed to make a vst even for personal use, how would Casio find out? AlenK Posted January 10, 2018 Share Posted January 10, 2018 You paid Casio for hardware that contains Casio IP. Try to sell that IP and you WILL get in trouble. People have tried that already with sounds they sampled themselves from a particular Roland keyboard (the D-50). Roland came down hard on them. I'm not saying you had any intention of that but you seem to think that by owning the product you own everything inside it to do with as you please. Not so.
