coho joe
Will powered speakers work coming out of the line out inputs without going through an amp?
Null
A decent set of powered 2.1 computer speakers should work fine. The line levels are compatible with the L/Mono R Out jacks on the back. The only things you might need are a couple of adapter plugs to make everything fit.Basically I had a similar setup working once with one of thesehttp://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Stereo-Female-Y-Cable-6-Inch/dp/B000I23TTE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1364424735&sr=8-2&keywords=3.5mm+female+to+RCA+maleand two of these to make it all work.http://www.amazon.com/American-Recorder-Technologies-Female-Adapter/dp/B0018SW3WQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1364424678&sr=8-5&keywords=rca+to+1%2F4+monoJust plug the 1/4" adapters into the RCA male plugs on the cable adapter and plug those into the L/R jacks on the keyboard and plug the computer speaker cable into the 3.5mm jack on the adapter and you're good to go.It's like having a full set of powered studio monitors for about half the price. Null
Or you could just plug a couple of powered studio monitors directly into the L/R jacks using standard 1/4" patch cables.Currently I'm using a pair of these in my home studio.http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Active-Studio-Monitor-Speakers/dp/B005F3H6Q8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364428611&sr=8-1&keywords=m-audio+bx5+d2
pianicaman350
I was looking at a pair of M-audio AV40's. A little less money, but they should work too. Both L&R go to the same speaker (probably put it on the right side to shorten the cables), and a "monster cable" feeds the other side. Seems to get good reviews.http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Studiophile-Powered-Speakers-Previous/dp/B000MUXJCO
