mschildt
I am unable to use my new Casio PX-150 with Finale and was told by Finale that, "We are aware of an issue when using some of Casio's newest models of keyboards to enter notes in Finale on Mac computers. Keyboards such as the PX-350 have implemented a new HD MIDI technology which sends an additional controller message on CC#88. This controller is not compatible with any of our current notation products. Some users report that third-party programs, such as Midipipe by SubtleSoft, can be used in conjunction with Finale to filter controller messages. These third-party programs are currently untested by MakeMusic and we cannot offer support for using them with Finale." Has anyone dealt with this and have a fix? Display Name
On the PX-5S you can disable HIGH-RES OUT in the MIDI settings... HIGH RES can not be disabled on the 150...
Mike Martin
They've been aware of this issue for over a year. We've sent them product to test and correct this issue. Unfortunately while most software companies have updated their software to adhere to the current MIDI specification it seems that Finale has chosen to ignore it. I'll call my contact at Finale and see if I can stir the pot.
jdmartin
I spent a good bit of time with the folks at Finale trying to figure out why my PX-5S wasn't able to input midi information in Finale 2010. They finally said that it was because my keyboard uses high resolution midi velocity. And they suggested there may be 3rd party ways of filtering the midi flow and getting my keyboard to work. I just found an easier (for me) solution. I unplugged the USB cable and created an Audio Midi Setup using midi out from my PX-5S only. Now Finale is happy. John Halle
Unfortunately, I'm using a PX 135 which doesn't have a separate midi output, so I've got to use midipipe as finale recommended. I've got midipipe up and running-the program recognizes the 135 and finale will take input from it. The problem is I can figure out how to configure it strip out hi resolution midi-which is controller #88. Can anyone help me?
