lodger
I have a Casio MT 100 and MT 600 and am stunned how nice they sound when resampled into Reason- The drums on the MT-100 are incredibly punchy. Demo 90's arcade chiptune-style track made with instruments costing $5.00 or less- casio sk-1, casio mt-100, mt-600, and yamaha psr-460. Anyone else still putting the mt's through their paces in modern sounding mixes?
Display Name
Hi and welcome to the forums. I don't have any MT's but yes they do still sound coo - I am a huge fan of chiptunes and the 80s videogame sound.
Chas
The MT600 is the non programmable version of the HT700, and has some nice sounding patches on it. It still has the analogue filter circuit that was a feature in the HT700, and with some mods you can access it in the MT600 too: The MT100 I think is similar to the MT65/ 68, which were renowned for their nice sounding drums. Nice song btw!
lodger
Thanks for the feedback, guys! Lately I've been getting tons of life out of the pieces I mentioned before by sampling them into reason...and very much helps keep continuity across tracks (helpful when you are doing something like a game soundtrack where the pieces you write need to gel together.) Here's the bookend track i made to that one- pushes the experimentation a bit further
pianokeyjoe
The 2021 Movie: The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, has an ending credits song/tune that clearly has a Casiotone 405/MT65/68, playing the 16 beat rhythm and some of the tones and bass lines from the keyboard. I love my old Casios, so I noticed that right away yesterday when I finished watching the movie and stayed to listen to the ending credits song since it clearly has that keyboard in it! That is one obvious song I know uses a classic MT/CT in a modern mix(2021 is as modern as ya get).
