Replace piano sounds through line-in on px350

Dear people

 

I think I have been misinformed by a local dealer. What I wanted to do with my PX350 is connecting is via USB/midi to my laptop and then use the PX350 as a midi-controller. So far so good, but I have to turn the volume down or else I'm hearing two piano's at once. Too bad, because what I would like to do is connecting my laptop to the Line-In of my PX350 while using it as a midi controller. The piano sounds of the laptop will then sound through the speakers INSTEAD of the Grand Piano of the PX350.

 

This is I believe not possible, because then you will have two piano's sounding through one speaker.

But I am new to my PX350, so what I would like to ask is if there is some possibility to make the PX350 go silent and only sending out midi signals.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

 

You'll want to turn off control over the internal sound generator.  Press the function button and go to MIDI and turn LOCAL CONTROL OFF.

To add to this-I just posted a rather detailed description of my trials and experiments with the PX-350's limited midi functionality. To save you possible headaches check this link  or just look up "setting up px350 as optional midi controller" in this forum.

It isn't as simple to record into a DAW with the PX350 as it is with a typical workstation keyboard if you are going for that but it can be done, my other post describes what I've had to do. Kind of tricky but it works-but always with local control "off".

 

The internal song recorder does not allow much editing although you can record 17 tracks (system track plus 1-16). I have been working on using midi software recorders (such as Anvil Studio, Cakewalk etc.) with the PX350 internal song recorder functions. I've done some "woodshedding" on the PX350 trying to overcome some of it's complexities-why you will see so many of my posts here. it's a wonderful instrument, plays like a dream and beautiful piano sound, great sustain and key action but a little tough to get around the many functions, especially if you are more familiar with a typical workstation-type keyboard.
