I can boast about having one of the very first Minimoogs ever built, being an analog guy in a digital world,I admit I am having a ball with my new PX-5s and probably as many out there, will never get to the point of "userness" as Mike Martin and others, but I will be able to incorporate it's huge array of sounds and soundscapes into my music along with my other keyboards. And besides most of us on this site who need some guidance on using this amazing instrument, I have to admit I am new to forums in general. I have resisted joining Facebook,Twitter, and whatever other social media is out there, but these forums are terrific inspirational venues as well as a way to communicate with others of like and superior mind. My question is: After I respond to a post, or, after I initiate a post, and I am away from my computer for a while, what is the easiest way to find if anyone responded? How do I keep track of my posting questions and those that interest me from others on this site?

At 69 I didn't have the opportunity to have kids who could show me the way. I thank everyone who has shown me things about the PX5s that I would have had to struggle thru pages of Casio literature to find, and I thank Mik Martin, who, by the way, I believe is a superior musician as well as the "guy" in the Casio world, for his input to some of my questions.

Thank You

You won't be a "moron" anymore if you keep studying all these posts! When you log in, look at the little icon immediately to the left of your login name. This is "notifications". If you click on that, you will see the word "options" to the right-open this and you can set up how you want to be notified for mail, posts and several other choices. You can also send "PM" personal messaging to individuals in the group. I've met Mike Martin in Dover, NJ. He actually was there to greet me when I needed my XW-P1serviced. I felt honored he went to that trouble and he is a class guy. Check his resume, it's quite something to have someone of his experience working for Casio and supporting all of us here. Enough of my 2 cents, welcome to the Casio forum, there are some pretty amazing musicians here. Now for some milk and cookies.

To be honest, I did join Facebook about 2-3 years ago, had friends of friends wanting to be my friend whom I did know have a clue whothey were, got emails up the whazoo, clicked on a link for no email notifications, and it stopped botherng me and I quit using it. I don't even know how to get on it anymore. I probably should either figure it out or re-join, but to me, with using my email that I use also at my shop, it was interrupting my day. So far, since I checked the notifications box after this last post about using this forum I got 2 emails. I assume, in general, it will only happen when I post a topic. I can live with that. I guess I should look into the Facebook thing again, Just don't want to have it take over my life.

Facebook can be hacked into. I have a "fake" profile I use-only people who know me know who I am, everybody else will not be able to get any of my personal information from that one but still can post and know its me. I view Facebook as a necessary evil if you need it.

Careful on Yahoo email, I have had contacts stolen from that email account twice. I only use that account as a "dummy" account for non-critical stuff now. Forums like this are well-monitored and moderated for Spam and inappropriate content and I trust what I post here will be reasonably secure. Not all music forums are, Yamaha UK is well moderated by some top-notch industry pros such as Mike Martin does here, has much more content than just Yamaha.

I forget it's name (I don't have it bookmarked I'm posting from my tablet not my main computer) but there is another keyboard forum with alot of Casio info which seems pretty good, Craig Anderton original editor of Electronc Musician magazine has an excellent review of the XW-P1 there but this forum is still my favorite for things Casio.

Thanks for the info on Facebook.  To be honest, I have enough working knowledge on the new Privia to get by. I believe it'll be an on going adventure trying to get the most out of it, but for now I know how to get by. My use of social media is and probably will always be pretty minimal. This is the first forum I've connected with outside of a CNC forum for my plasma cutting, which I never use because, there again, I got what I needed and have enough working knowledge to get by in that arena.

I will be constantly looking for those new sounds and stage settings. That is a huge plus for being on this site for me.
