goergtn
I think General MIDI sounds are bank 0, 00-127. Is that what you are asking?
User 29303
nop i wonder how the px5 handles midi files playback ,.,..does it setup the sounds by itself or does it depend on the stage setting i am on and the mixer settings ? goergtn
I don't think it matters what SS you start with, a SMF will send patch changes on bank 0, so the PX5 will just use its GM soundset. Now, if you can get in and edit the file you can change the patch bank numbers to access the PX5's own sounds. The banks (MSB) numbers are in the tutorial- pianos=#64,EPs=#65, etc. The hex layers are still limited to Zones 1 & 2, but drumsets can be called up anywhere (like ch.10). Choppin
Like goergtn said: it depends on how the midi file is setup. If the program changes are on Bank 0, then GM sounds will be selected. However, if you manually change the the sound, tempo, or use the mixer while the song is playing, things will change until new information is received from the midi source again. User 29303
and thereis no waytosetup a mixer setting for a midi fileto remain fixed for it ?
Choppin
That control would be in the midi file itself. The mixer will change according to the parameters in the file. If you make a change while the midi is playing, it will hold that change until a change in the file itself occurs. I don't know if there are filtering options on the PX-5s that will filter out certain midi messages (volume changes, patch changes, etc.). If these events can be filtered then you could use your own mixer setting and it wouldn't be changed as the file plays.
